Metallica is the kind of band that waits 25+ years to play this masterpiece in full. They’re also the kind of band that do a show in ANTARCTICA and not play Trapped Under Ice...
Yeah dude and in Australia without fight fire with fire!
Yep. I love Metallica as well!
@@rodrigobravo5704 that ama is fantastic everyone went apeshit about napster while not really understanding anything about it
And we'll never forgive them for that
And it's also the kind of band that has stupid fans all over the 7 continents. 😉
Finland, the only country who made a good use of the By Request tour, and got them to play this gem.
Sergio They played in Milan in 2015 when i saw them, they also played unforgiven 2, disposable Heroes, fight Fire with fire and king nothing. Lots of rare stuff
In Warsaw on that tour we saw Orion and Kthulu ;)
It still makes me proud to be a Finn
I couldn’t stand when people used the by request to do songs like Sandman or NEM.
Frayed ends of sanity would be one of my top picks
The Frayed End of Sanity and Dyers Eve are two songs Rob really want to play when he's join the band. 11 years waited for this momment.
I bet you've watched the ...And Justice For All 30 years later interview or whatever it's called
I knew the facts that Dyers live-premiered right after Rob joining and stopped being played after the novelty of him being 'new' faded wasn't a coincidence.
@@novaseer Yea I saw Dyers Eve live for the first time on the 05 tour
Thierry Blondin-Rivest ‘04*
@@novaseer i think dyers eve is one of the best metallica songs its just a shame lars cant play it anymore
I love how no matter how cold it is, Robert is usually wearing shorts. Lol
I looked up how cold it was in Helsinki on that day.
A high of 7 degrees C, and the man is in shorts.
Lol I'm the same way
I just dont like pants
He wants to crab walk
7 c aint that cold tbh
I could only wish to listen to this masterpiece in their prime in 1988-1990
James sounds wonderful and Lars is right on time. What a performance.
That solo was pretty great as well!
I think they actually had to practice for this one and you can hear that! 😂
I think they actually practiced this one lol
Lars did good apart from the fill after chord progression 😐😬
@Anemia true
Hearing Robert’s bass just makes you realize how screwed Jason got on “Justice”.
Yeah. AJFA is my favorite album, but even I'll admit that the mix was garbage. And Justice for Jason!
I've heard mixes where the bass was turned up. And no disrespect to Jason. But it sounds like shit. The bass was identical to the guitar played by James and it was drowning out the guitar.
jamesy gmd thats because they probably weren’t professionally done. If the bass is overpowering guitars then it wasnt done right
They were racist to jason
@@txhellrazor4765 ive actually never heard of them being racist to jason. They've bullied the shit out of him but that doesn't mean theyre racist
Damn, they totally nailed the whole song. Even Lars. I honestly didn't expect that.
Because he simplifies every single fill, tbh. I love him though.
@@andreadg5429 yeah, it just seemed like he didn't do as much of that in this video as he had been lately. Also, even Kirk was mostly on point here, and he's mostly a mess live these days.
@@CarpeDiemBaby7891 yes indeed
Lars misses the mark on a lot of hits and the fills all get ahead of themselves. The tempo all throughout is really unsteady. It's not horrific, it's just bad enough to notice. Still, you should expect more from him.
@@andreadg5429 He killed the fill that matters
Let's appreciate that this incredibly complex arrangement is both so tuneful and so powerful. "Frayed" might be their greatest songwriting achievement.
Also "...and justice for all"
No I think this songs just a little too long and the verse kinda gets repetitive after 4 minutes straight
@@isopropyltoxicity ajfa or Sanity?
@@АлексейГзомовичConsidering the first reply has no username mention, I think they mean Sanity.
Nah I would say a bunch of song from Death Magnetic are better from a song writing perspective. All Nightmare Long for example has even more interesting things going.
Fun fact: Earlier in the tuning room, Lars was nervous that he woudln't be able to nail this solo 4:01 infront all those people. And Lars asked James to be next to him when he does the drum part.
Wow... well he nailed it! James is such a good friend.

4:02 Probably the best riff Metallica ever wrote, criminally underrated.

It’s sounds so monstrous with the bass grinding away underneath it. It’s really kneecapped on the studio version :(

@@sleepinthemorningcalm fuck yeah
Damage inc breakdown riff: am I joke to you?
The mid section of this song is so damn good. The riffs, the drum break, and the solo are very well done. One of the highlights on AFJA in my opinion.
Best Metallica song
Por estos riffs dream theater hizo su musica, lo han dicho muchas veces, se enfocaron mucho en el and justice for all por q metallica era de sus bandas favoritas, solo q al cortar los compaces , en metallica se escucha natural y en dream a veces es muy forzado
AJFA is their best album IMO. Rich, innovative, daring, technical. There's not really anything like it. I think of it as the first prog metal album.
@@humanbirdsong Exactly!! I understand that people get upset about the poor production and the lack of Bass, but the rawness, agressiviness, lars drums and James vocals are perfect!! they were at their peek at the time, its a shame that a lot of songs in ajfa are overlooked by the fans and metallica, Frayed Ends in live is insanely good. Sorry if i made some gramatical mistakes lol.
@@Vidiuss Completely agree!
This song is so underrated, it is just a masterpiece
Let us not glaze over the fact that Lars absolutely killed it, double bass and all sounded brilliant.
He certainly played well. but I find the really unrealistic sample on his snare drum just takes me out of it.
even the fill at 4:01
I thought this drum track was overdubbed because the 2014 version sounds like complete dog shit compared to this. It’s the exact same drumming though, whoever was in charge of their live concerts during this period really screwed them. It really sounded like they were falling apart 2011-2014 but now I’m convinced it was shit production.

Justice has finally been served. The frayed ends has been brought to the masses live. One of the greatest riffs in all of metal.
I don't think Kirk's solo gets enough love, it's one of his best.
I just watched a 2015 version and he unfortunately could barely make it though the solo, but he really killed it here
In case you wondered about the quiet crowd: It was +7 C (44 F) all day with mild-to-heavy rain all day. But wait, there's more! There was also 6 m/s (13 mph) of north wind. The coldest type in Finland.

Matthew Bermingham I always wonder about it!
not really, it's what keeps the fingers warm.
Its a little easier after warming up, but anyways, playing with fingers in these conditions is always a pain in the ass.

4:01 One of my favorite Lars drum fills
While imitating is easy, innovating this during song CREATION is the genius that is Lars!
mazscsu preach it
Simple and effective.
And yet he completely butchered the fill here.
And had the fucking badass riff with it , perfect timing🤟🏻
Justice, the best thrash-metal album from now till eternity.
Very rarely do you find a live version of a song that rivals the album recording but here we are…
The looks of sheer concentration on everyone is gold. They’ve never played the song completely and you know theyre kinda nervous because it is really a complicated song
That was the first thing I noticed. The " please let me get through this song without fuking it up"
Oooohh yeah diggin' the new audio mix for this one, man. Being able to hear the bass guitar so clearly makes the already heavy Justice songs even heavier!
metfan4l my wish is they would “Re-Visit” And Justice for All... do it again, bring Jason in and Ofcourse Rob too... they could do so much! My thinking is this, it would be a way to right wrongs of the past & create something familiar but also New. In tribute to Cliff... righting wrongs and healing ALL, once and for all.
How awesome would it be if Jason was on bass? Complete with his satanic backup vocals!
Michael Angelo H. Record it again now. Today. Same songs. You could pull the Masters, also create new, lots of tech around now to create a Re-Visited. Add a Bonus track where you bring in John Bush for a song or few. Go all out. For Cliff. For Yourselves. For us the fans. Give Re-Visited the HardWired treatment!
Not to mention, front to back, And Justice For All... my favorite, my first... beat a friend in basketball & put up my skateboard to win this album (AJFA). MetFan for life! Just sayin... would love to see it. And be apart of it!!! 😉
Greg Fidelman has been doing a great job remixing these live shots. As far as the AJFA album, they don't have to re-record the whole thing. They could have just took the upcoming remastered version, and mixed a new track of Rob's bass into it... It would sound better, but then again it might be a slap in the face to Jason personally, if it matters anymore.
SICK, DOPE, WOW !!! Lars actually trying, Kirk actually trying, James with some aggressive vocals, and OMG I can hear the bottome end. They also played the ENTIRE song. Well played Metallica.
Everyone after me..
Pretty shure that if Lars practiced that Fill for at least one week, he would nail it for shure...🙂
Well done who ever requested they play this O:)
2:10 - "Wow this is fun - why don't we play this more?"
2 minutes in: “this is fun!”
6 minutes in: “damnit this was a bad idea... my arms are too tired!”

Metallica played The Frayed ends of Sanity because Finns requested it! (Remember) in 2014 Metallica was in its tour 'By Request'
Holy F. This was tight. Never mind how biased I am having witnessed this live in Helsinki but this this performance was beyond everything and made finally post my 1st comment on Tube. Unreal.
3 years later im going to ask you, was Lars fill before the solo actually this legit? Ive seen another video where its catastrophic
wow in the rhythm breakdown it looks like kirk is doing the triplet over triplet and James is doing every second triplet, kirk is a hell of a rhythm player doing that for that long and then straight into the solo, awesome
This whole album was their best overall. I understand why you'd go with Master or Ride, but something about this album is STILL underrated. The solos are Kirk's best (Dyer's Eve is insanity), and the riffs are classic mastermind Het.
Ride the Lightning is their album. Fade to Black, Escape, Call of Khutlu, For Whom the Bell Tolls and Creeping Death lol. And Justice For All and Kill Em was my first two albums that got me into Metallica
Stop saying "Best". There is no such thing in a subjective field like music. What you meant to say is that it is your "favourite".
If Justice had bass it would be my favorite
@@christyler5409 They treated Jason Newkid Newsted like shit. What a shame

Never warnings
Spreading its wings
As I wait for the horror she brings
