Elizabeth Banks is so underrated. She is actually a fantastic actress with so much range. Many actors/actresses can’t go from comedy to thriller/horror and she can go back and forth with ease.
For the people who are concerned the trailer gives away the whole movie. It doesn't. Saw an early screening of it tonight. Trailer doesn't give away the movie at all.
She directed Charlie's Angels - remember that feminist flop? Before the movie's release she stated that her movie isn't made for men, but for women so men said "ok, we have Rambo". Her movie tanked and the first thing she did was to blame men for its failure. By the way not even women wanted to see that crap. She's not underrated nor brilliant, she's just mediocre.

I remember seeing the flyer posted outside my apartment (warning that large trucks would be taking up street parking) for Skincare: the movie - I saw part of it being filmed but I didn't know it was Elizabeth Banks hahaha
If youre thinking of watching, do it. I really enjoyed it! Everyone i saw it with enjoyed it as well. Trailer doesnt give anything away at all actually so dont worry about that.

Now the thing that should be stopped is the "over rated" or "under rated" sounds like people getting mad that their favorites are not getting recognition, everyone is rated exactly how they are and that's a fact.
Can’t lie… the trailer makes the movie seem way better than it actually is. Thankfully it also doesn’t give away nearly as much as you’d think. But there were no real surprises in the film itself imo.

I thought it was based on the Dawn DaLouise’s story. When she hired a hitman to take care of the competitor whom she thought was spreading lewd personal ads on Craigslist etc, but it is not

And to answer your question original poster about what story its based on, well the answer is: who cares, it's a story that doesnt matter. I thought this was gonna be about how skin care is a scam. The day i stopped using facial cleansers and benzoxide pimple ointments and simply just rinsed with water was the day my acne finally stopped popping up (no pun intended)
i was so disappointed with this movie they have taken a good storyline and turned it into a pathetic movie they did not do justice to Dawn DaLuise true story. Elizabeth Banks didn't even know this movie was actually inspired by a true events shame on her

I saw a pre-release mystery preview of the film. The movie, script and acting were all horrible. It was one long “Karen” movie that was predictable and unremarkable. I want my $7 back.
