- This concert at the Paris Olympia was supposed to be a very emotional and special for Ray Charles. It was his 70th birthday; and it was his first tour in this new millennium. That night, (November 22nd. 2000) Ray Charles was supposed to play with his "Big Band" but due to an air traffic controller's strike in Lisbon; the Band was stuck at the airport. So, Ray had only his drummer, a guitar player and a bass player for the performance. But the show wasn't cancelled. "Ray and His Trio" worked out a new show, set list and arrangements in the hotel room and came on stage late. The show went on, and what resulted, was a fantastic and a creative concert, with a rare emotion and sensibility.
They use to call him "The Genius". but was humble and asked to be called brother Ray by his fellow singers, song writers, and pianist during his time in the Music & entertainment industry back then but I call him and Icon in the art of music before my time and still I love listing to him today. Thank you Brother Ray and RIP.
DANG what a funky and God-Gifted man he was... let us keep his energy, his Spirit alive and as vibrant by sharing with others, Brother Ray's musical legacy. Bless You, Ray Charles!
It's a form of art getting your instrument ready and testing it while on stage for almost a hole minute and not annoy the crowd

U nas Ray Charles nadal jest bardzo popularny i codziennie grany przez stacje prezentujace 'stare, zlote, niezapomniane przeboje'. Niestety bardzo malo prezentowanych jest piosenek w innych jezykach, jedynie przez stacje etniczne lub tzw. stacje community.Gdy odwiedzilam Polske bardzo mi sie podobalo, ze stacje graly piosenki w roznych jezykach. Rowniez Cie Zbyszku cieplutko pozdrawiam. Mariola
