Certainly no need to 'compete' with the others, you are doing such an amazing job already against your own progress! Remembering what those rooms looked like before vs now really highlights your hard work and growth.

I like the fact that you recognize where you are on the hoarder spectrum. From a 4 to a 2/3 Is great. You know your limits and when to say when. You precevered and did you decluttering in your own way. Keep it up!

It's so nice to have you in this playlist to remember that we don't have to be at the "Minimal mom" stage to do a whole house declutter. Thank you so much for your good words and the inspiration you give me every time I watch your videos! You're with the big ones now, you are as valid as they are. We need you to show the world that it's possible at any stage to declutter and do some progress. Thank you!
All I wanted to say to you at the begenning of this video : " You go girl! Don't doubt yourself, you can do it!"

Decluttering is about progress not perfection and you are certainly making progress. My biggest problem is putting off small tasks and sitting stuff down to deal with later. I’m constantly reminding myself to finish tasks rather than putting them off. For mail try to get into the habit of dealing with it each day rather than letting it pile up. Getting off mailing lists for stores can cut down on catalogs and coupons that trigger us to buy unnecessary things. And there are websites that will remove you from getting things like pre approved credit card offers. Between those things and getting my bills and such online I hardly get any mail anymore and less paper coming in is wonderful. It’s wonderful that you are helping your local women’s shelter! Keep up the great work! ⭐️

De-cluttering is so difficult for me mostly because, oddly enough, it is an emotionally overwhelming task and so many things need to be "let go" of in the right way. It can definitely drain you even if it's not a physically demanding task.

Really great to see the kids decluttering their own spaces! Here's a suggestion -- could each of them have a recycling bin in their rooms as well as a trash basket? Then they could get into the habit of dumping them into the big curbside recycling bin weekly, or as soon as the bins are full. Also -- might be a good idea to institute a rule of no food or drinks (except water) in the bedrooms. Their future roommates and spouses will thank you!!!

what an amazing idea to partner with the women's shelter. if there are gift cards that have been sitting around or aren't for places you know you want to go soon, those could get donated to the women's shelter too! that would be a beautiful way to pay it forward. even things like the new blankets you showed in your storage bench would be great for that charity, not if it's TOO sentimental of course, but if you could see yourself passing the joy on :)

Great job!! I have a suggestion for a challenge. Spend the time going through each space, basement included, and just pull out all of the unused and unnecessary cardboard (boxes, containers, etc) and all of the unused and empty plastic bags. Then recycle it all that day as well. Probably a good challenge a day or two before your recycling is picked up. Bags can go to most grocery stores. I think that you will be amazed at how much will go and help you continue to declutter the spaces. I know that I would love to see that! Keep up the great work!!! 🦄 💜

I discovered your channel because of Mega March Motivation just a couple days ago. I have been watching starting at your oldest videos and am currently halfway through your children's bedroom they sleep in. Because of your videos I found myself going through my mail that I have piled up everywhere last night and now have an organized area and this morning while doing my makeup I stopped in the middle and went through my makeup to get rid of the old and organize it. I have a lot of the attachment issues that you do and I found you so relatable that I am finding the confidence in myself to go through my house. The hardest part for me is that my husband is worse than I am about attachment to items but he works a lot so I can't go through things with him and when he's home he doesn't want to go through it. Any advice on how to get our house cleaned up? I can't live with the piles. We have an 11 month old who is all over the place and I want to be able to feel comfortable not watching him every second of the day in our house.

Thanks for reminding me that it doesn’t have to be “all or nothing.” I did a little bit in each of our main living spaces. I’ve decided it’s going to be my goal to give away five things each week in March on my community giving page.

It’s just a fast declutter. The low hanging fruit. The first video was in January. This is the second.

How about a recycling spot. It doesn't need to be complicated. I keep a big tote on the laundry room where anyone in the house puts what they think can be recycled there and each friday, the day the recycler/waste picker comes I segregate true recyclables from trash and give him the recyclables. That way your house doesn't look cluttered and you still make sure to correctly recycle things. I have also found very useful to post what I want to let go as fast as possible to get it out of my house fast.

The thing I like about these group events is that there is something that encourages or helps someone. Each person is different in how they come at things and are at different places on their journey. Thank you for your courage and I am glad you realized you don't have to be them, you have to be you. You help many people that cannot relate to anyone else.

i don't believe that keeping things out of the landfill has anything to do with OCD. It is the responsible thing to do. Good for you!

As a non American who doesn’t understand the cultural need to decorate specifically for every religious, commercial or seasonal event, it seems to me that most of the clutter comes from these items. If you eliminated all the decorations for all the commercial events (valentines, st Patrick’s etc) you’d have less of a hoard. I watch a lot of declutter videos and I’m always amazed at the huge amount of Christmas decorations that Americans have in their homes. Now that I know you also decorate for even less significant holidays my mind boggles. No criticism intended - just an observation.

Caiomhe while this may be true of some people many of us American's do not decorate for every holiday/event or even to the scale that Ms Heart does. While holiday decorating clearly brings her happiness, I agree that the amount of decor is a major contributor to her clutter. I am sure as she continues to improve in her hoarding she starts to scale back on what she displays for the holidays. She has come a long way in the time she has been on TH-cam.

Yeh as someone from the UK I've noticed this too. We basically just have a xmas tree and a couple decorations for xmas and then a few bits for Halloween but thats it 😅 each yo their own but you do make a good point

When winter is so long and cold and dark, as it is in most of north America, putting up some decorations for those minor holidays helps remind you time is not standing still and spring and daylight will come again. The change in decorations from Halloween to easter is like a countdown to summer. I lived in an area that was cold and snowy from October 1 until April 30 most of the time, decorating helps break up the white.

@@jennifermclelland6877 ah, very interesting - yes I see the purpose now. Thanks. 😊
Is that also true of other colder countries such as the UK, Russia and the scandi countries?

Yes its true here in Scotland too. Its bleak from end of October until March. Each to their own 🤷‍♀️ decluttering is figuring out what really brings you joy and what you can live without and thats different for each person

You can really see your improvement from the first video you made. I have a suggestion, maybe you could focus on refusing more and I think that will help with your hording as well as with your anxiety, refusing means: You cancel mail subscriptions and you get them digitaly only, youd dont ask for printed receits, you dont take flyers, you dont take plastic bags (if you forget your fabric bag you chose to take the items with your hands), you refuse any kind of plastic straws or cups, and you ask people around you to not give you more stuff has gifts only experiences are accepted has gifts.
