This is great! Checkout some guy dude, named something McKee I think? He does "Spanish Castle Magic" and then there's a black guy that does "Fire", crazy crazy good!!!
It was a tumultuous time as culture's clashed and the country was divided. But meanwhile a young jimi was doing things no one had ever done at the time. Eric Clapton after a show mentioned he would be taking guitar lessons now amazed by the talent of a young negro from the streets of San Francisco
that was awesome...... at times very little emphasis is put on the 'drummer' but you are the glue that literally holds the song together...... nice work, hope to see more soon......theVICEshow...... Wednesday......
Astonishing, I heard this song first time when I was 11 years old, It was amazing.. It sounded even better now with you playing it and I am now 48!! Well done Vale !
@@valerosales3673 One more thing, just now, I realized that at the end of your video someone was doing your 'fro. Man, please, as if you really did have a strand of hair out of place. No matter how hard the wind howls, the mountain ('fro) cannot bow to it. 😄 💯 👏🏽 🌈🌹
You posted this seven years ago, so I'm a bit late to the party. But I suppose it's never late too late to pay credit where credit's due! I gotta pay you a huge compliment for your take on Purple Haze... your interpretation of Mitch's playing was loose, grooving, dynamic, full of energy and flow, and what I liked most is you gave it your own touch! You didn't even once try to copy any of Mitch's parts on the record note for note. It was your own thing in the spur of the moment - just like Mitch would do. Really loved it! And I dug the afro too...
You'd be amazed what lessons can do! I'm an older woman and I've been playing for decades! I took plenty of lessons and practiced all the time, I still practice!
For a much more authentic feel, watch in 144p. For the first time ever, I was disappointed when it jumped up to 720p after several seconds of buffering.
Vale did you have the afro before you learned to do Hendrix or did you grow it after to complete the aura? Be honest!! I was born on the same day as Hendrix.
I think the first step in covering a song from 67' is finding the right drum sound. Your drumming is great, but it doesn't sound anything like the original track. The toms should sound more muffled and metallic, in a way.
Actually Mitch played his toms wide open with no muffling, I think using Ambassador heads. It would be hard to duplicate the sound on the original recording of Purple Haze because so much of the sound was the result of Eddie Kramer's engineering.
What even is this? If youre gonna play Hendrix, play Hendrix. Don't make it this weird Metal/Hard rock thing Mitch Mitchell was highly Jazz influenced, As good as this is, and trust me. It's great, It really misses the Hendrix spark. Thats just my opinion though so hold your horses everyone
I very much disagree... I think his rendition was totally in the spirit of Mitch! I think if he'd played the same thing on a vintage kit with Ambassador skins on it you'd agree too.
Are you still alive? I worry about any one in Honduras. Don't worry our kind and caring president is so concerned about the plight of impoverished, violent Spanish speaking nations.
Some people say it's skill, i say its the afro
Damn this snare sound is awesome.
Thank you!

Best Hendrix drum over I have ever seen.
This is great! Checkout some guy dude, named something McKee I think? He does "Spanish Castle Magic" and then there's a black guy that does "Fire", crazy crazy good!!!
Greatest Hendrix dum cover of all time. I wish him the best.
thank you for doing it in black and white and with the hair lol perfect
Love the videos on the snare drum. Has a 50s smoky jazz look to it.
HERMOSO, me encantó todo, la tocada, el blanco y negro, la puesta en escena todo

Good cover! You could send the song without drum please, greetings from Chile
+Marcelo Ferrada Hey Marcelo you can download it from this page: www.karaoke-version.com/mp3-backingtrack/jimi-hendrix/purple-haze.html
Olvidas por momentos usar elpie izquierdo, cuidado con eso. Del resto, todo bien. Saludos.
i absolutely hate the tuning of the floor tom for this song (it could be the mic you used too) Really awesome tho. everything else was so perfect.
mitchum was a speedstick
What even is this?

Title it DRUMLESS TRACK COVER instead
With that Afro anyone can play, 🤔
