- This week on Commander Clash, a fan-favorite theme returns: viewer-submitted decks! About a week ago, we asked all of you to send in your sweet Commander brews, and we got a ton of spicy ones. Each crew member picked a favorite to bring to battle. Here's what we've got:
Sisay, Weatherlight Captain vs. Yennett, Cryptic Sovereign vs. Toggo, Goblin Weaponsmith + Akiri, Lone-Slinger vs. Codie, Vociferous Codex

I wanted to thank everyone for their kind words about my decks, and especially thank you to Richard and Seth for showcasing them! It really made my week and was very appreciated.
I have watched this episode multiple times. Your decks are excellent!! That time when Seth says: "...cause I can make a rock." (1:36:05) and Richard just bursts into a heartwarming laugh is such a great moment. Thank you.
What's this? A comment to remind you all to smash that like button?!
Sounds like a great idea if you ask me!
I heard your voice when I read this. Lol
@@Belena711 same.
Don't mind if I do!!!
Did it with a rock
@@Belena711 Same!
Joshua G. and the big brain to have Seth and Richard team up this week using his decks.
" Joshua G. and the big brain" would make for a nice band name.
The dedication to the theme for the Russian Roulette deck is amazing. It's such a fun idea for a good laugh at a random table.
There was almost TOO many flop cards. It must have been 1/6 of the whole deck, instead of 1/6 of the non-lands like I thought
@@TheShitassdick oddly enough, it's neither. there are 12 flop card, which is not the 16 you need for 16th of the deck, nor is it the 10 you need for 1/6th of nonlands.
Skyswallower merging both decks made by the same person is beautiful
I play it in my narsett group hug deck it's such a fun card : D
If a Boros equipments *no equipments* deck with a goblin that literally creates rocks to fling around isn't the pinnacle of MtG deckbuilding I don't know what else will ever be
YES! THE DONOVAN BANE! 😂 Always love to hear that!
The Bahnhammer
This was one of the most fun episodes in a long time, because even more than usual, everyone wanted to see everyone's deck do its thing, and everyone chose really sweet decks. There's never a bad episode of commander clash, but this one was still on another level.
Except Phil. No one wanted to see Phil do his thing.
Joshua G. shall now be referred to as “The Great Architect”
1:39:00 TH-cam is actually mad that infinite mana and Morality shift in Seths hand + Scabby G on the field might be crazy!
That Yennett deck is freaking amazing. Great pick Seth…and great week. This whole episode should be a Clash a moment.
Donovan Bane, hahhaaha, love it. And cheers to the deck-builder of that russian-roulette-deck, love that too.
Lol. The lone Skyswallower at the end. The cheese truly stands alone.
Are we sure that's not Tomer playing the Superfriends deck?
The puns are rocky, but I appreciate the sediment.
Man, a morality shift with all those tokens would of been pretty exciting
I was screaming at the screen lol. with a scarab god out too.
@@matthewnodwell4847 Yup! While I enjoyed the game overall, that little bit was always sitting on the back of my mind. Really wish Seth would have seen that line
"Hi I'm Saffron Olive prolly better known as Seth"
There we go. Now it makes more sense to me.
ZERO complaints about the Obliterate play. That was fucking awesome lol sweet way to win
Since there is perpetual confusion around the card, Sphinx of the Second Sun inserts the 'beginning phase' between mainphase 2 and endstep. Thus you can only cast instants/permanents with flash (unless otherwise stated) during those times you could normally do so, and there is no other Mainphase in which to cast your permanents/sorceries.
Move through combat
(Beginning of) Mainphase 2 (Sphinx Triggers)
- Untap Step
- Upkeep
- Draw Step
End Step
I really don't understand how they don't understand how that card works. I have seen them play it before and they seemed to have figured it out then.
Yeah, it's actually pretty simple if you RTFC. It *triggers* at the beginning of the post-combat main, but the effect takes place "*After* this phase."
its worded badly, as written it works, but is clunky, if it said after your second main phase, there is another starting phase, it would save text and avoid this confusion
Seth could have used Morality shift to fill his graveyard for Scarab God, but I think this way is better.
I wonder if there was a way for Seth to win this way.
I mean... I might just have to build Seth's deck & play Russian Roulette every now and again. That just seems hilarious!
so I built the sisay deck and I gotta say I haven't updated the mtggoldfish version in about 2 years the deck is slightly different now, (btw crim it has a world tree so you good)
I cried with joy when I saw Exodia!
This was such a fun episode. Great deck submissions! EDH at its absolute finest
Definitely one of the most fun episodes of commander clash. All the decks were neat but the roulette deck was hilarious.
By our powers combined, this is Richards' boardstate!
The Russian roulette deck was so fun! Y'all should settle on a universal list that you like and then all four play it!
the trigger for the sphinx goes off at the post-combat main phase but the actual beginning comes into place “after this phase” referring to the beginning of the endstep
Goldfish crew really the GOAT! This is backed by facts, check the receipts people!
3/4 are definitely the GOAT
1:38:29 I was really hoping for Phil to Noxious Revival Seth's Time Wipe back on top of his deck with the Yennett trigger just to troll him.
Oh wow yeah, that would have been a good one xD
Loved the decks that Richard, Seth, and Phil chose this week! Such cool, fun decks. Then there was the degenerate planeswalker combo/destroy all other permanents deck, which shouldn't have surprised me :P
You thought the 5-0 split was big brain questionable decision making? Well the gang sure has a new one for you! Loved this episode
Ich-Tekik, Salvage Splicer/Toggo, Goblin Weaponsmith is a neat foundation for Golem Tribal. Get on it Richard!
That was just great lol! Thank you Seth for the commitment to the rule and yes: Exodia indeed obliterate! I don't mind those types of cards as long as you can actually end the game in doing so.
Its when you just do it randomly to where now everyone just suffers is just unpleasant and kinda boring as I would like to see decks do what their are supposed to do. It just happened to be this time Crim's deck did what it was supposed to do!
Holy crap, Phil sort of predicted the surveil errata at ~31:30
Winning with Obliterate is very funny. I loved the little Exodia clip :D
“Exodia, Obliterate!” 🤣🤣🤣 I love crim so much, that was good stuff
The end of season stats had better count this one as a win for Joshua G!
Can't wait for the quartet next week boys!
The smash intro is so good.
On this week of "Punt or Bluff?" it's decks by committee! Will Richard throw rocks at everyone or will Seth just randomly flip the win from his library? Tune in to find out!
New Year's came, and Joshua G. went ahead to 3022
These decks are so cool. Should def have another submitted deck week each season.
Sudden Substitution would be fun in Seth's deck. The possiblility for reverse bullets could be fun. ^^
Ah, yes, Yennet, the "Hey look, it's Ulamog!" sphinx.
Phil and Crim are my favorite characters on the Clashing show.
That Exodia Obliterate was hilarious!
As a connoisseur of fine MLD, that was a great Obliterate, Crim.
Go watch Tomer's Mono White Spellslinger video if you want to see me Jokulhaups him ;)
Seth could've Morality Shifted on the crazy Scarab God turn and get every creature in his deck into his graveyard.
This week's episode was just fantastic
Sphinx of the Second Sun is still a trigger that goes on the stack and resolves, so it doesn't cut into the middle of you currently starting your second main phase.
This is why it doesn't go infinite quite as easy as people think.
*points at brain*
Can’t blow up my permanents off I don’t have any 😂
Re: Sphinx of the Second Sun - "At the beginning of your postcombat main phase [this trigger goes on the stack and resolves to give you this effect:], there is an additional beginning phase AFTER this [postcombat main] phase." i.e. You get the additional beginning phase after your postcombat main phase, between the postcombat main phase and the end step. It's basically a Wilderness Reclamation that draws you a card and re-triggers your "at the beginning of your upkeep" abilities. ...Also Teferi doesn't shut down Codie, as Codie doesn't cast the 'cascaded' spell as part of resolution of the delayed trigger that happens when you cast the spell that sets it off: You are free to cast it at any point that turn, so can cast it at sorcery speed whenever you want.
I love the opening sequence to these
Just realized that Teysa lost quite a bit as a superfriends card with the damage redirection change. Before that you'd have to attack the player, lose a creature and give the opponent a chumper to damage their planeswalker.
Coalition Relic is from Future Sight, btw.
1:33:00 You missed the sickest play Ive ever seen- Mortality shift, then scarab god all of your good stuff.
From the Crim obliterate to the Seth and Richard team up A+ content although I do wonder if there was a way to Scarab God kill with the black spell in Seth's hand
"next week you play a green deck 'ironically'". I almost spit out my drink.
Currently screaming at Seth to use morality shift! About 20mins to go, hope he gets the message lol
Donovan Bane = lol. Is that some kind of James Bond Villain or something?
Ohh damn, I wish I had known it was viewer submitted deck week. I actually also have a bludgeon brawl deck with wyleth as the commander. It plays mostly as an eggs/treasure deck until it pulls out bludgeon brawl and starts drawing 10+ cards a turn.
How does the card draw work? Is it just you casting lots of eggs?
@@mikeviolette4010 Wyleth allows you to draw for each equipment on it, so you equip the treasure, eggs, mana rocks, etc with bludgeon brawl and draw cards.
It's also not totally equipmentless. There's a backup plan with bloodforged battleaxe and fighter class that can allow Wyleth to snowball pretty quickly, along with some other choice equipment (sunforger package, commander's plate, etc.) Sunforger can even help find bludgeon brawl with enlightened tutor.
If the deck manages to get the bludgeon brawl, but not the wyleth, there's also another backup win with equipment synergizing creatures like goblin gavileer, champion of the flame, valduk, bruinor, boros akiri, etc.
The deck has been pretty consistently good so far, although the power level does seem a bit above what they're playing here.
Crim's obliterate a valid move having walkers on the board, and it's just funny Seth had already lost his other permanents
Chandra acolyte of flame also works in the combo.
I use it in historic
I can see a good out in swinging in to steal the monarchy and then just swordsing the big boi that makes hexproof
damn sounds like joshua G should get a job at MTG Goldfish , two decks out of all the submissions is pretty nuts
Alternative name for Russian Roulette
Spin it to Yennett!
Crim obliterating the board was excellent!!!
50:17 Get a load of this correct opinion!
The Coddie and equipment decks are pretty sweet.
I didn't know you guys were doing Deck list submissions. well dang
I have no idea what the purpose of casting Ebon Drake is beyond fealty to the Russian Roulette theme. He could have just left the mana open and kept the 15ish life lost.
Richard is talking a lot of talk for someone who took the challenge to build reaper king with no changlings then added a bunch of changlings
also note codie isnt stopped by teferi, codie takes the card and allows you to cast it for free at some point that turn
1:46:30 I'm not sure, but I think you can't equip the tokens because they don't have a mana value at all. Their mana value isn't 0.
1:45:51, can Richard not equip because of grieves? Are those attached to his angel?
Exactly. No MODO bug
It looked like the greaves were on Yevette still.
the win this week goes to joshua g lmao
I wonder if you could build an everyone plays Russian roulette deck with some of the weird exchange permanents at random cards without going too heavy into chaos themes. Like a esper or grixis Zedruu style deck? Hmm Now I want to do some brewing...
Teferi does not stop Codie, Codie exiles the spell and you maj cast it until end of turn
Pog for Joshua G
the new intro is sick
It isn't a MODO bug. The treasure tokens "don't have a mana value, so therefore there is no equip cost". Not "the treasure tokens having 0 mana value and therefore an equip cost of 0".
currently, there isnt a ruling reflecting this, as it hasnt been addressed with the change to mana value over CMC, previously it worked
I really truly love the russian roulette Yaheeni deck. I think i'm going to build something similar. Do any of you know if there are similar commanders (that allow you to cast your top card) in other colors?
You can do this with Narset as well if you want to switch Black for White.
@@MTGGoldfishCommander Oh you mean Enlightened Master! Good idea, thanks! (also i think you meant "black for red", but I got it, thanks again!)
I play Obliterate in my Jund Super friends deck as well so completely valid imo lol
good to know im not the only one who plays sisay superfriends with all the obliterate spells. 😅
Commander Sphere is definitely better than a Darksteel Ingot 😅 At a certain point you just dont need a single mana thts only benefit is it cant be destroyed 😂😂
I dunno what creatures are in Seth's deck, but there may have been an argument to use Morality Shift after getting the 56 treasures, and then reanimating a load of fatties with Scarab God. With enough ETB interaction, Seth could have parlayed that into a win.
Are Crim and Phil getting canceled/fired for changing viewer submitted decks? Also shoutout to Joshua G!
Hope to see some spicy jank ( :
I might be wrong, but feel like the keyword landfall is specific to Zendikar
Could the treasure equipment bugged because they have no mana value as opposed to a mana value of zero? The bug may have been a not a number bug for MODO.
Does this episode count as a guest appearance credit by Joshua G. on Commander Clash? :)
Dockside treasure snatching tech... crafty cutpurse.
SETH you could have morality shifted to put your library in your graveyard and make even more scarab god tokens for all the broken stuff
Loved every minute of it. Where do I submit a suggestion if I have something spicey and janky straight out of value town for seth or phil? ^^
These game made my day seth in game 1 lol pure joy and game Crim rock joke all across the board 😄.
My main reason for booing Crim is he didn’t say exodia obliterate!
Nevermind lol
Oh yes Phil. If only search for Azcanta had surveil on it..
I want to play disinformation campaign so badly. The sad things is that even some cards printed after surveil was keyworded don't have surveil on them either.. I mean come on Wizards
Am I missing something or T3feri does not stop you from playing your commander? It's not a drannith magistrate.
these decks are sweet
Russian Roulette was so goood !!!!
Yay! Rock finally beat paper! Poor codie
