I could watch this woman spin for hours!!! For anyone who thinks it is the same thing over and over.... try it. She is the master of spinning and making double veils look easy!
I think some people find this boring and just turns is because she is so good at what she is doing... she makes it look so easy. Every time I watch this, I wish I could dance like her. This is a very beautiful video, the music, the choreography, Jamilla, and the editing. Beautiful and enchanting!!! Thanks for posting.
This is one of my all-time favorite dances. PJ calls it "The Rose." The music is perfect, and the dance is beyond exquisite. This dance is such a treat.Enjoy!✨️🌹✨️
This is the most gorgeous routine ever. I think it's called "The Rose". And P J is just exquisite in this. There are so few routines that you can watch a million times and never get bored while there are so many that you can't even watch the whole thing all the way through. Kudos to P J. Ten gold stars!! :)
So lovely, thank you for posting this video. At one moment I thought of ice skating because she was so fast. And the veil moves, the costume, the music... Everything perfect. And so much practice !
This is the Petite Jamilla I first met in 2000 in the Florida Panhandle when she was just 16. She was an extraordinary dancer then and later I saw her on the Bellydance Superstars circuit.
Truly a work of art, both the dance and videography. Interesting that you really can't tell she is, "petite" by the video since she fills the whole screen. I've never seen such a dynamic veil dance. Great to know by the video count she is getting a deserved audience.
How could you not like this?? I have seen Petite Jamilla Live at the Bellydance Superstars. She does a similar performance with the double veil and.... She is amazing!!
I tried to do this....got my veil caught in the ceiling fan, knocked over some furniture, tripped over the dog, and fell down the stairs...think I broke something.......and the dog got pissed at me and ate my shoes!
Totally agree! That is why she is the Queen of Turns in hyper shalwar. There is so much more to 2X veil than this. There is not any artistry to this at all. I have mastered 2X veil and there is an entire vocabulary to this type of dance. There is so much that you can do with sleight of hand alone.
@jade401 She's doing a turning backbend while the veil is in front, then when she's facing front again, she straightens up and twirls it behind. It's called a broken back turn.
@Honey360Bee, she's using a technique called 'spotting'. Many other dance professionals use it to reduce or prevent dizziness. It's accomplished by focusing on a stationary 'spot' and turning your head to face the spot before your body does She also uses lots of counter-spins as well. And of course lots and lots of practice!
@MakphyaLuta : I learned that move as "stir the pot" and "dish rag"; the name depends on how and where you learn it. To turn the veils in front ("stir the pot"): R hand goes up and to the left (counterclock-wise), makes a loop over the head and L hand follows. R hand continues clockwise in front of the body, L hand still follows--you're making a figure-8 with both hands, L hand follows R.
I love Petite Jamilla's dancing, enjoy her music choice, and her veilwork is to die for! My pet peeve though, are photographers who try and get all artistic with filming dance: the dancer is supposed to be the artist here! Half of her performance was lost on close ups and fades. Raahhhh...:-( I wish they would just hold the camera still and let the dancer do the moving. That said, love Petite Jamilla, so thanks for posting. :-)
This is so beautiful. She looks like one of those little toy ballerinas, I want to put her in a glass box and watch her dance all day. Keep up the good work jamilla, you're the best :-)...
@molarmama5 It's more than spotting. Some people will never be able to do this because of sensitive inner ears, and it takes lots of training. It's mesmerizing, I WISH I could do turns even half as well as hers!
simply amazing dancer, watched her last night in the BDSS show at the Anvil Basingstoke, she has created a new version where she has a total of 6 veils spinning, it's stunning
I am ok now. Was almost as funny as when I was on stage with a live band and started doing head spins with my knee-length long hair and whacked the musician in the face , got it wrapped around the microphone and fell off the stage....I haven't seen video popup on youtube yet, but I know it's out there somewhere.....
@tonguebreaker To turn the veils behind ("dishrag") both hands come above the head with the veil and remain there while you make one turn. You spin and the veil spins with you. Hope this helps!
Oh-my-god it's so beautiful, these vieil effects, she's really greacious, like a further. Par contre je ne comprends pas comment elle fait pour ne pas vomir o.O !
@failingchemist It's a veil performance They do alot of neat things with the veil but its very difficult because even though it may not look like it, the 2 veils are much bigger than she is
My goodness, she's a living cylcone... O_O I kinda hope our belly dance teacher won't have us swirl around this much, otherwise I'll need a week to figure out which way is up and which way is down again. xD Amazing performance!!
she dances so perfect beautiful that has apparence is easy, but is really difficult, somebody could say me what is the name of the theme that she dance?, thanks
@MakphyaLuta 1:18 barrel roll into a roman cape turn. I don't know if that helps because most clubs have different terminology, so you'd probably call it something completely different :)
Bravo! If possible, can I use this video for free ? The purpose is to use as the background of my electolic guitar play. The video will maybe upload at this TH-cam. If impossible , please do not mind and let me know. Thanks and best regards.
Can somebody explain e how to make that kind of turn she makes? She turns, we can see only the veils, it seems that she turn them twice, and then, when she's in front of us, she turns the veils behind her. Sorry for my english... =) Thanks to the answerers! =D
oh gosh, what is the secret of this spinnig??? i wanna learn and practice but i don't now how, i get really dizzy=) i also nave neck injury but there's gotta be way to manage to do that!!!

Endless turns, like a human washing machine!

No one does double veil better than Petite Jamilla❤️
Lovely veil work. I would have liked to see more body movements.

Me mareé de sólo mirarla!!! Mucho giro!!!
thanks, I guess the caveat is learning how to spot correctly and building that tolerance, because that is no easy feat!!

Too much spinning, my head still spins :D
