thats actually a pretty fantastic way to do it. i recently used a gm tech scanner with a master mechanic as it was his and he wasnt letting it out of his sight. my stepdad trusts me but thats money and neither of us wanted to have to explain anything. it had a freshly built motor with a cam and i needed to set timing as my scanner doesnt have that type of functions for this motor. the tech scanner only takes a snapshot of the base timing on quick throttle snaps over 1500-2k rpms. literally infuriating to me while a proper break in hasnt been done because i need to set timing to drive the damn thing. but i have to try to blow it up first. next season ill be replacing the dizzy and hopefully doing something like this to get the dizzy set in place. my current one is a tooth off but adjusted to 0.0 so its not wrong but its not clocked how it should be and thats not optimal for engine harmonics. but after dealing with his scanner i didnt want to do it again till i got a new dizzy as this one has atleast 50k miles on it. ive wanted a tune/tuning software for a while but i dont want to raise the limiter for speed or rpms as i know i wont be able to keep my foot out of the throttle. but this is why i need tuning software so i can better fine tune my vehicle and also get rid of some pesky bad spots in the stock tune. starting out -100 hp on a built motor is just absurd. but it saves driveline parts.

Good stuff, didnt know you can use hp tuner to tune the 5.7
Good info, thanks!
Cool deal, it would be helpful if you showed how you added the PID for others.
Can you delete key security with hp tuners? Lost the key for my 98 and have had zero luck with a mechanic or help online
Yes you can
Cool deal man. So just connect and start scanning and then look at that particular Channel?
Will it disconnect the speed governor?....and what are you using? windows 7? XP?

Cool, what software was you using on the laptop?
