I'm going to be a senior in high school this upcoming fall and I've been stressing over the fact that I wouldn't be able to get into USC right out of high school because I messed up. I told myself that I would get straight A's for my final year of high school as well as get myself mentally prepared for the rigorous schedule I plan on taking at JC. Do not just give a generic answer that can be applied to all schools. Tailor your answers specifically to USC. For example, you could bring up a personal story that relates to USC, talk about specifics such as the programs, sports, LA area, Trojan family, etc.. Also, apply for scholarships early! USC is a fantastic and beautiful school! Fight On!

Just graduated from here! I chose it over Northwestern and others. My roommate and best friend from undergrad chose USC (with a little over half-ride) over Harvard. Good luck to all the applicants its a wonderful school. I got into my dream med school thanks to their awesome premed program.

My friend and I got into USC this year, and her situation is similar to yours and USC was pretty generous with financial aid. She got a pretty good deal that granted her enough money for her to attend next year! so you should go for it :) best wishes

Hopefully you also play a sport or something else extracurricular...they love to see that you can do well in school while spending time doing other things. I had a 3.5 GPA but I played 5 sports!!! That saved my butt!!! GOOD LUCK.
This was my dream school. USC rejected me and didn't give me a chance... instead now I attended a small slack school in Virginia, getting As and a few Bs. I could transfer to USC, but I only got 2 more years left... what's the point now? Thanks USC for not accepting me. My dreams of having the college experience are crushed. I met all the requirements to meet your standards when I applied in high school, yet I got rejected... sigh..... where did I go wrong in my life.....
Be very active in HS... get involved. and choose something to excel in... music, sports, etc are good ways to go to get scholarships... and then do well in AP classes... and only worry about reporting if you get at least a '4'... and finally student council helps
The ghetto area isnt until like 9 blocks away. I drive my girlfriend to USC and I don't normally see ghetto areas until I get kind of far away from the school.
you should definitely email them that you really want to go and ask what you can do to increase your chances for next year; schools like to hear that kind of stuff.
well most of my money came from the fact that my family has no money but many of my friends who are middle class received some merit scholarships but even if youre middle class they offer pretty generous financial aid and even if they don't give you enough at first you can always ask them for more hope to see you at usc soon fight on!!
@crypghost5 first off the surrounding area is not as bad as it use to be trust me I grew up in east Oakland and I've been to USC a thousand times and at night it's not as dangerous as people say it is and the university is not just for rich kids I'll be attending this fall and my family makes less than twenty thousand dollars a year so don't come here talking crap considering that seventy percent of the entering freshman class is getting financial aid please don't be ignorant

For all of you people wanting to go to USC you better have a 4.0 or above to even have a decent chance. You're competing with people who have 4.5 gpas and have done a lot to try and raise their profile. South California is full of a lot of high achieving competitive students and schools that it is extremely hard to get into USC or UCLA
