thank you. i've been looking at it. i bought the p32 when they first came out and a p11 when they first came out and it is still my summer backup to my taurus 605. the backup to the p11 is the lcp2.
Even from the tabletop review, I already liked the direction of this design. Seems a 380 version of this would also be a good thing, perhaps even better than 9mm. 🇺🇸👍🏼🤟🏼🙏🏼👏🏼
Thank you for an OBJECTIVE review! This is not common on the TOOOOOB; many reviewers are blatantly prejudiced against some guns (Why, almost as if they were PAID to be nasty, especially against Kel-Tec.) Your reviews let the gun speak for itself. A few obvious things that might be forgotten: Gun grips can be CHANGED easily with sandpaper to round off corners, and slip-on rubber sleeves to add palm swells or finger ridges for a better grip that controls muzzle rise. Adhesive add-ons can dramatically improve traction too. Hey, it is YOUR gun, and you can alter it to suit yourself. I live in soggy Western Oregon too and my main carry gun (very small) has "A-Grip" strong adhesive wrap-around soft synthetic felt that is really good when wet. I agree that some pistols might be TOO light for shootability! A request: how about a survey of non-bulky, non-battery pistol sight devices? From Tritium sights to light-pipes to "See All Sights," and the non-electric non-adjustable dot-sighting devices from Ruger and Hornady whose names I forget? And there may be more I don't know about for IWB use. You don't have to BUY them, just show their advertisement website photos during discussion. I just do not favor electronics on a handgun. Keep it in mind? Thanks...............................elsullo
The rear sight will drift unless lock tited down after zeroing. The backstrap definitely makes the gun better to shoot. The main benefit is the gun is so easy to shoot with great sights and super trigger.
@GBGuns it seems that far more EDC intended pistols are incorporating roll thru triggers now. My PX9 Gen3 Duty seems to have a roll thru trigger as it doesn't have any definitive wall. Not that this is a bad thing really because there is minimal take up or overtravel at all and it breaks cleanly at 90 degrees. The reset while audible is not very tactile and seems to be nearly at full release of the trigger. It is smooth, light, and easy to go very quickly with none the less. I look at it from this perspective any firearm you get is going to have to be learned and continuous training results in muscle memory. The sad part of this is that if the firearm such as this Kel-Tec you demonstrated here is uncomfortable to shoot for any length of time the chances of developing that muscle memory become slimmer. I would rather sacrifice ease of concealment for ease of use and hence why I carry a full size pistol. If you look at the market trend the Sig P365 which was touted as the smallest high capacity EDC pistol has grown into a slimmer full size pistol that is a sub 1“ thick Glock 19 sized pistol. People wanted the ease of concealment, lighter overall weight, but with a longer sight radius and grip length to make shooting them less daunting of a task as they were relatively snappy. The original concept of the stack and a half magazine architecture has opened the door for polymer framed pistols to be slimmed down to the sub1“ width of a 1911.
Kel-Tec are inventors… copied often by others … P11 the first double stack micro-9 , years before SIG P365 came out .. I heard they built the P365 around the magazine of the P11 The P3AT was copied by Ruger to make the LCP … I have owned a P32 for 22 yrs … runs like new … I also own a Sub2000 , great carbine .. I also own a P17 .. absolutely a blast
Not sure what the purpose of Kel-tec is these days. They used to be significantly less expensive than the major brands but now there are over a dozen sub $300 polymer, striker-fired 9mm pistols to choose from.
Doesn’t seem horrible. I think a person may need to be a keltec fan from the start? The weight may be a selling point? I’m leery of the selectable grip safety and mag disconnect. Just more moving parts
I believe that there is ONE moving part to rotate, that allows other levers to move or not. You could glue it where you want it........................elsullo
@ thank you. To your point, I have to admit I have not looked at a schematic or live part to make a logical conclusion. Other GB viewers please draw your own conclusions based on your own research. Thanks again for politely redirecting me.
I'd like to see you disable and remove the grip safety, and the mag disconnect safety..and possible add some Talon grips- and do a short revisit to this pistol. Kel-Tec has as you re most certainly aware, a sketchy reputation. The fact that you had no issues with reliability, was impressive. I wouldn't buy one, due to the lack of any lefty friendly controls. Other than that, it sure looks like a decent pistol.
Haha, it's AI, i can afford that out of pocket, but this channel runs on a shoe-string budget. I refuse sponsorships and ad reads to keep the videos pure, but that also means minimal funding for extras.
Essentially a desperate gun for desperate people in desperate times. In other words, a really cheap gun that's disposable but reliable (probably) enough in a very limited role for a person that wants a sidearm but won't or can't afford to train. Not bad. Overall though, I'd accept a little more girth and take a police trade-in Glock 19, 23, 32 or a used M&P9 (pref M&P40) compact over this though. With the trade-ins, I wouldn't be concerned that the very last test firing was the last successful firing the weapon was capable of. Doesn't Kel-Tec translate into "when will this fall apart?"
Uh, no it does not. You need to take negative YuuuuTOOOOB reviews with a fist of salt---I believe many are paid shills from bigger competing manufacturers and who deliberately ignore the user's manuals from Kel-Tec guns. They just keep selling inexpensive firearms to millions of happy customers! I had a Kel-Tec P-11 9mm, that I bought USED in the early Nineties, for twenty five years and over four hundred HOT rounds of FAIL-Free reliable and accurate service. Double-Action-Only is the safest pocket carry, and naturally needs a heavy trigger---which is its only needed safety. I wish I still had it but I had to trade it for rent in hard times.................................elsullo
I didn't like mine. The magazine release button kept coming off and falling into the magwell. Poor craftsmanship and when shooting it was bitey and hard to grip. Snappy to the point of unpleasant for shooting practice. Sold it to someone else so they could deal the bad issues.
That's why you shoot hundreds of rounds in every gun to make sure they're reliable before you have to depend on them. Anyone with half a brain does it, regardless of who made them. Which makes your snarky comment moot.
But most of them DO NOT FAIL and that is why they sell MILLIONS OF THEM. The big old expensive manufacturers are selling just as many "bad" guns as as these inexpensive makers. Taurus in particular is an entirely different company over the last decade..............................elsullo
@@HarbingerOfDeath10-67yes and no, in the matter of Glock, HK, S&W, CZ, Sig, and a few others, absolutely yes. In the matter of Taurus, Kel-Tec, Tisas, Girsan, Ermox, etc. ? NO. It's just one more round closer to the gun breaking. Here's the deal. If you buy a firearm from any gun manufacturer that does not actively pursue military and LE contracts, you're assuming additional risk to save a few bucks. If a company doesn't pursue and often receive those contracts, it tells you tons what the maker's attitude is.
@@elsullo2no, Taurus is NOT an entirely different company as far as manufacturing. They are entirely different in how they promote their items and how much they spend on promotions. Name ONE major military or large police force outside of Brazil that has adopted a Taurus sidearm. Heck, even in Brazil they lose out to Beretta and Glock nearly all the time. There are good reasons why Taurus and Kel-Tec don't aggressively pursue LE/Military contracts... because it's expensive to do so, because they know they lose... because their guns can't stand up to hard knocks. Kel-Tec, Taurus, and a few others are perfectly okay for that sub-100/rd month plinker who never goes in harm's way. Again, even in Brazil the big police forces don't buy Taurus. The intro has me wanting to listen to some Static X this morning. Rock on !
I think 30 super carry would shine in this platform.
Good idea
YES! Love that Idea
It seems like a decent self-defense weapon, it ate all those different weight rounds with aplomb and seems very accurate.
The Keltec P17 22lr is a fun range gun. And it comes with three 17rd mags. Don't randomly tighten the screws.

Seems like a nice option for conceal carry. Would love to see you review the metal one
Love the music
Looks good. I definitely want one, but I'll probably pick up the metal version and throw some different color grips on it, just to make it my own. 😆
Seems pretty accurate for what it is. Maybe the sights are a little off to the left.
Being such a small piece, it's possible that he's pulling his shots with those big mitts. 🤘

Happy New Year, GB, to you and yours! 👏🏼👍🏼🤟🏼🙏🏼

Crazy that this gun is less than 3 oz heavier than a J frame (unloaded)
I am surprised. For some reason I have a very bad perception of Keltec guns. But this one performed extremely well.
I was thinking the same
Yes, it survived a couple hundred rounds.
Do you really want a gun where Loctite is considered a vital ingredient?

@rrhonaker decades of collecting and almost a decade of reviewing about 50 per year
Maybe the metal frame version would be a better option since it has separate grip panels
It is as pricey little tho.
I meant to text that it is a pricey little gun.
The metal version of this gun looks way better but it has no rail 😒
My experience with KelTek isn't good at all! No way would I buy one!
KelTec for my carry? No, thank you.
