Good tips. You may want to consider using a mat cutter (used in frame shops) to finish the final edge after the bulk of the material is removed as it will cut a perfect 45° angle.

We actually haven't tried this on loop carpet, but we think it should work. Try a test piece before trying it on your project.

The carpet being used in the video is aviation carpet. The backing used is nibbed back rubber mat.
