    Good morning Eaun! My, you have been a busy boy! Lol! The extended platforms are a great addition, and those retaining walls look brilliant, but must have taken an age to build! The revamped high street, with the parade of shops is excellent, and ties the whole station scene together between the bridges! Loved the backstory of Blackwood! It's always nice to have a physical location and time period to draw on when modelling! Keep up the good work mate! All the best, Ian.

      Hello Ian - from the Pumpkin Cafe at Carlisle😅. Off work for a week and have just visited CM models in Carlisle....mmmm has a DB Schenker class 66 from Revolution made it into the shopping bag😂😂. Yes 8 weeks of sitting at the table for a couple of hours each night cutting, glueing and sticking paper and card together. We'll worth it in my opinion ! Glad you enjoyed the update and the back story. Cheers Euan

    Greetings, Blackwood, and hello, Euan 👋 New additions and a back story 😇 you have been busy 🥵 The Parade fits seamlessly into the station area and you would well believe it was always there 🤩 Great running session too 😍 with lots of double heading 🤔 you could think you're expecting the Lotto Sisters to visit 🤭🫣 Very best wishes from the Emerald Isle ☘️

      Hi Paul - don't tell anyone but some of the back story idea came from deepest Somersex 😅. I'm pleased with the new Blackwood Parade - took ages to get it to look right - but I think it was worthwhile! Cheers Euan

      Many thanks - yes all the little stairs just add to the detail and hopefully make the scene believable - hopefully another update should be along shortly as I've been busy on the next part of the scenics. Cheers Euan

    Hi Euan, well you’ve certainly been busy, the cutting out of the retaining walls must have taken some time, ask me I know🤪😂!!!. I like using the pastels for weathering, they’re just as good as weathering powders and much cheaper!
    It does look very good, i really like the longer bay platforms and of course it acts as another storage area too! I think you’re right, those platforms will need some canopies, not sure if you could kit bash a kit or probably more likely do a scratch build. Whatever you come up with Euan, I’m looking forward to seeing more, cheers for now, John

      Morning John - I knew if there was one person who would appreciate the time it takes to build Scalescenes kits - then it would yourself ! I've had bay platforms before in the original station build then after I redesigned the station area about 7 yrs ago. That said every time I put them in they were ridiculously short and never got used. These two new bays are already earning their keep - great to be able to stable some of the DMU'S etc without blocking the through platforms. Hope all is well with you and family. Cheers Euan

      Morning Ben - many thanks. The 68 in the green really looks good when paired with my other weathered 68. Weighty loco's at 100grams each - so plenty of pulling power up the helix. Cheers Euan

    I had to laugh when you said I used "very cheap pastels". Comes as no shock at all Euan 😂😂😂😂😂
    And it looks like you have broken a Class 47 already !

    • @thegrowler-blackwoodngauge
      @thegrowler-blackwoodngauge  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I've got to live up to my "frugally Prudent Controller of Blackwood" reputation - so cheap pastels it is 😉. The 47 was filmed on it's own but never got uploaded - so it'll be a starter for ten on the next running session. Thought the WCR pulling the 47 looked rather good myself ! Cheers Euan

    • @thegrowler-blackwoodngauge
      @thegrowler-blackwoodngauge  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Steve - it's only taken me around 7 yrs to finally get a retaining wall that's fits the picture in my head of how it should look. Scalescenes are very cost effective kits as you print them off as many times as required. Trick is to ensure you use the right card thicknesses - if you do and take your time the end result is pleasing! Cheers Euan

    Quite the project (I have just embarked upon the construction of 528cm of platform construction, the two mainline platforms being 188cm and a bay😩), great running session to close with, thanks Euan.

      Hello 👋 ! Many thanks. Lots of work under way to put in the scenery. Next update you'll see my first tunnel on the layout. How are you building your platforms ? Euan

    • @highlandersixtysix
      @highlandersixtysix 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@thegrowler-blackwoodngauge So, I had bought some laser cut kits - not at all happy with them; yes they had a nice brickwork finish and the copping stones at the platform edge, but the overhang just wasn't to scale (as in too much) worse, however, was the warpage of the platform sides because the wood is just so thin - now, I suspect that it might go unnoticed when the track is ballasted etc., but altogether just didn't sit right with me. My previous platforms were a mixture of Metcalfe kits and routed ply, but this time I'm going with the Peco platform sides and lightweight filler to bring the level up in the void - I did a trial-run and was very satisfied, gave a nice solid base for buildings and platform furniture and lighting etc..

      @@highlandersixtysixthat's the method I've seen used by Dan at Great Deltan - very effective and gives a good solid base for platform furniture 👍

    Blackwood station looks good Euan, and the parade works well above the two platforms. The whole scene there really works as a whole. I can see how much work must have gone into the scalescenes kits and they have come out very well. Thinking about your canopy you might want to take a look at York Model Rail's canopy components, including valences. On that kind of wall, given it's the older original part of the station, I think the canopy would be fixed to the wall and rest on wall brackets, without any columns. It is more work but you might be able to scratch build something that will fit better than any kit. Are you coming over for the Edinburgh MRC Show on Saturday. I am going to make the effort, but then it is only a 5 minute walk from my front door. Stephen

    • @thegrowler-blackwoodngauge
      @thegrowler-blackwoodngauge  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Stephen - I'll take a look York Model Making - thanks for the suggestion. The Scalescenes kits are good value but you need to take your time to get the finished article. I'm currently planning on going down to Carlisle on Saturday - so it's more likely to be Sunday if I go to the show. Cheers Euan

    Fantastic progress Euan, love the area around the station, creates a very believable scene. Great to see trains running. Is your farish voyager running slow too? Both of mine run around c40-50 mph.

      Hi John - many thanks. Cutting out all those Scalescenes parts is certainly time consuming but I know you'll appreciate what it takes with all your own scratch building. The Farish Voyager was only on just over half power. Cheers Euan
