Flavor Of Life(オリジナル）は、ポップなサウンドに圧倒的な歌唱力で切ない歌詞を歌い上げていた。残念ながら宇多田のオリジナルはシングル1面でありながらＰＶも作られていない。（たぶん契約が関係している）
加治さんのカバーは、宇多田の表現を模倣せず、あえて原曲（譜面）に忠実に歌唱し編曲されているために、潔くポップな仕上がりになっているのだと思う。
惜しいのは花男でブレイクしたバラードバージョン があまりにも有名であるために、それをイメージし、切なさに浸りたいと思ってきた人には唐突なアレンジに思え、戸惑いを隠せないに違いない。

正直今まで加治さんの事は知りませんでしたが、この歌を聞いてファンになりました。オリジナルはスローテンポで暗いイメージですが、加治さんの歌はテンポが心地よく、又気持ち良さそうに歌っている姿と歌声が何時までも頭に残っています。こらからも楽しみに期待していまね。

I don't know if people just dislike her or you just talking about this song, if it's the song then I can say that it's probably cuz this is a super popular song and she changed it up a bit so maybe why idk but I think she sang this pretty well
It's most likely because of the arrangement; it's a sad love song, but she made it sound very uplifting and cute.
The meaning of the song, the lyrics, and the feelings delivered in this song aren't happy or light...arranging probably wasn't a good idea, she's still really good though.
+CARAMEL SWEETOOTH the original Flavor of Life is nearly upbeat as this
+Terra Sober Im not talking about the ballad version. Im talking about the actual original version. what you said is true for the ballad version but the original has a whole different feel.
The music and tempo is rather upbeat in spite of the lyrics. The original is id say sad but hopeful while the ballad is just depressing.
Notice in the original version has the lines "Dont be afraid -- Youll be OK" which is completely missing from the ballad version. But ultimately I agree people dont like this arrangement just like most seem to prefer the ballad to original.
"Dont be afraid -- Youll be OK"...there was never such line in the song; not in the original, the ballad, or even the arrangement. You said, "notice in the original version", but I'm very sure you came across the song with inaccurate English subtitles/translations.
I'm Japanese, I grew up with this song and no matter how many times I listen to it, it's still not uplifting, happy, or hopeful. The original may sound a little bit "upbeat" to some people despite of what the song is about, but the feelings behind it and the bittersweetness are still present.
I agree with Terra Sober, "It's not as upbeat actually, it's a build-up." and it's presented beautifully in the song. Again, the singer of this arrangement is really good, but she just didn't choose the right song to arrange and cover.
I think this is awesome, just so good, it lifts you up, her voice is fantastic. ❤️❤️🙌
