Hard to believe this audition was almost 2 years ago, he looks so much younger! It's obvious David wasn't really showing the judges what he was capable of, he was doing just enough to get to Hollywood, then once he got there he let the judges have it! His 1st Hollywood audition was so fantastic that the producers refused to air it because David would have won right there (IMHO).
