E string barre chords are based on E note shapes, and A string barre chords are based on A note shapes. This answered my question "How do I know which barre chords shapes to play?" I've been learning the fret board now for a few months and stumbled upon the e rooted bar chords when I moved it off the g barre chord. It makes so much sense now that a rooted chord will be with a chords. Such a amazing design a guitar is. 🎸
This is THE BEST guitar lesson I've ever watched. I've watched hundreds. I wish this was the first. Thank you. I'll find a way to pay you for this. It's priceless. It opens up the entire fretboard, easily :)
I seen many guitar teachers on You Tube, over last 10 years and this is only one up to now that simplifies barre chords in an easy way that makes perfect sense.

I am studying harmony in piano and bass, my only intention was to be able to jam with chords with the guitar, and in your video I learned everything I needed. Thank you. U desserve a like.
So happy I found your channel 🙏🏾. Love your teaching style and kind demeanor. I have been playing guitar for a while, but I never quite understood the basics and how the guitar worked. This is valuable stuff.
Thank you for explaining this in a beginners pace. I get so tired watching guys start to explain then start noodling at 200 BPM loosing me. Now subscribed
I absolutely love watching your lessons. Whether I have my guitar in my hands as I work out a new lick or chord, or if I'm just listen to a cover of yours, I can't miss a video.
Hey William, thanks so much for the positive feedback. I'm so glad you're enjoying these lessons, and my renditions of these great tunes. Many more on the way!
Thanks so much for your lesson, for a beginner like myself, you really know how to simplify the method of teaching barre chords ! I am late at learning guitar (65) but I find it to be relaxing, exciting, and challenging. Thanks again for this great lesson !
Great video! I just got a guitar about a week ago so, I am very green. I'm 54 and hoping I'm not to old to learn. I just found your TH-cam videos and I'm hoping I will be able to understand what you have to teach. Do you have any recommendations on what I should start with first? Thanks in advance
jarka1361 also I started with a ,e and d chord and some practices for fingers and your fingers will hurt for like a week .( depends on how often you play ) When you learn a, d and e you should try switching between chords. Try to play as many chords as you can under a minute. You will see yourself progress. Then you can easily play some simple 3 chord song.
very helpful thank you. I looked up "bar chord variations" in the past on TH-cam but got shit videos lol. I've always wondered what those chord shapes were I've seen them before but never knew what they were and got really excited when I saw u demonstrate them. awesome video thanks
Hello Sir, Little correction. On 2:43, while playing the A minor barre chord, we play the string number 5 and 4 with finger number 3 and 4 respectively, but on your chord diagram, finger number 2,3 are shown. Well it might confuse some beginners so thought of bringing it to your notice. I love your lessons sir. Keep up the great work.
