Speaking of the windmill thing dont forget about freja in ng+ popping up on the cliff and the damage staying for the boss fight, one of the very cool things about ds2's ng+ that should have been kept in the newer games

It seems like because of the memory limitations randomizer is just shuffling between a few bosses. That's why both Smelter and Alonne reapeared.

There´s a lot of cool and unique stuff DS 2 did that no title ever repeated, sadly.
This burning of the mill, "knocking" to let mobs open a door for you, enemies crashing through gates/walls, destructable doors/chests etc. Also it did the only really innovative Ng+.
I know it has it´s kinks, but I still love DS 2 the most. I wished Miyzaki would bring back some of the odd features from this title. Maybe in the next FromSoft soulslike. Hope dies last ^^

Dark souls 1 had a few ways to effect the world or boss fights with one being killing the giant before fighting iron giant make the fight so much easier or the same with the gaping dragon with killing the caster up top. Than there is killing ceaseless discharge and the lava pools lowering because of it but nothing like how dark souls 2 windmill works.
