@@machinate To be fair, while the definition of wedge states that it's 2 inclined planes, the purposes of a wedge and an incline plane are completely different (which is why they're considered 2 different simple machines).

I love how, several times throughout the video, the two halves of Brennan were at war with each other. Brennan the DM, as a player, tried to get the train back on track and move the plot along. But then ten seconds later Brennan the *absolute improv machine* responds with "Derailed again? Well then _let's do this!"_

You know Brennan was like "is this what people mean when they say actual play is nothing like real D&D" but frankly, bypassing all the DM's plans in favor of nonsense and ignoring cool fights to do ethics and diplomacy is EXACTLY what my players do, even when the enemies more or less say in plain Common "I am the vanguard of a colonizing army and pose a direct threat to the lives of innocents and the freedom of your entire continent" so
That sounds exactly like what I would do in DnD, because tbh I think my fantasy is a world where you can use magical powers/insane martial prowess to just force institutions to function and help people lmao. But also trolls are there.
I'm pretty sure that was his point. Most actual plays portray fairly on-rails games, but this one is more chaotic, and therefore more like home games / 'real' d&d.

by which i mean my players have, in no particular order
1. paid a random NPC's tuition
2. redeemed and became the father of the big bad who tortured him
3. gave the big bad therapy
4. cured cancer. fucking *cancer.*
5. recognized that the big bad was unwillingly following his destiny to be a villain and gave him a chance to change after they beat his ass and spared him
The first one shot I ever ran was a classic dungeon crawl, my players did one fight, then spent the rest of the time stealthing around, using the power of wizardly breakdancing and tactically viable fart jokes

To be fair, I really do think it's debatable if a screw, a wedge, and an inclined plane really -are- all different simple machines. I have -my- opinion on the matter, too, but I think there's room for more than one correct way to categorize the simple machines.
Brennan desperately trying to save his ongoing Hex spell somehow is the funniest shit, rather than coming off as annoying metagaming. Simply by making the metagaming a meta-joke
Deputi is, mechanically speaking, an object and so should not be a valid target for hex, but I don't blame the table for not realizing this
@@relzyn5545 yeah but they also don’t need to even do it at all. You can reassign hex on any turn you take after the original target is dead as long as you keep concentration up.

@@sword7166 yep. I just did a dungeon crawl with numerous encounters between rests as a warlock where you had to really manage resources and I used hex for the damage boost because you can keep it up for an hour on a single slot.

This is the most actual, actual play ever. The fact it went completely off the rails was fun. It was a fun ride :)) If I ever want to show people what an actual game of Dnd sometimes ends up being like at a home game, I'd show them this. Everyone was riotously fun.
I tried to teach my brother‘s how to play, My youngest brother was not into it include a character off of Chris Baumstead and Insisted that he only works out. My oldest brother crazy a paladin who has an actually good paladin. My last brother decided to make it 4 foot six dwarf barbarian who murders men, women, and children, ate his mother and father, wears nothing but a loincloth, and flirts with every women around. It would have been a nice easy introduction if “Snorlak the Destroyer” wasn’t cracking dirty jokes and trying to kiss there guide.

@@markusklemm4516 Almost. I'd argue that force plane, radial, and spring/elastic (compliant machine) are the 3 simplest machines of which all others are built off of. (force plane)×2=(inclined plane), (force plane)+(radial)=(lever), (radial)×2=(wheel and axle), (elastic)×2=(rope/chain), (rope/chain)+(wheel and axle)=(pulley), etc.

Aabria's DMing style amazes me. They have mastered the chaos dm method unlike anyone I've ever seen. The level of just "ok. we're doing this now" comes off so flawlessly and effortlessly it's just amazing. If Brennan has mastered Judo DMing Aabria has mastered drunken boxing DMing. It's truly a pleasure to watch a train turn into an ATV.

I did not know WEDGES were going to be the thing that broke my sense of humor today, but the whole rant on screws vs wedges was everything I never knew I needed.
One thing Aabria does as a DM that I really love is when she allows certain actions as long as the PC can describe how it would work in game. "Describe how paddles gives you advantage in combat" is a good example, when the player has to/can justify certain actions it really adds to the experience and keeps things within bounds, definitely something I will be using in my future campaigns.

I am not even two minutes into this and as a dane I have to say that I love the fact, that when trying to make a danish accent Freddie went for a sort of mix between a swedish and a german accent, wich geographicaly would make sense! Unfortunatly a danish accent sounds nowhere near as flattering. Unlike our other scandinavian neighbours there is no sing-songyness to detect, and according to said neighbours, we sound like we are trying to talk with a giant potato in our mouth all the time.

Everyone here is someone a grew up watching content of as a child. I was born in 2001 so I grew up off of early good TH-cam, Freddy Wong gave me a love for filmmaking, a career I am going to school for. Mika was apart of my favorite gaming channel Achievement Hunter, and when she left I was sad and the company got different, anyway I have stayed a fan of hers and since I was in my mid teens watching her stuff Ive had a blast. The rest of the NERDS there I live from DND, Arbria Has done great work as a DM and I love the campaigns shes ran, I NEED TO SEE MORE CHARACTERS lol jk. you know i hate to contradict my man Brennan Lee Mulligan, but the classical six simple machines have included the wheel and axle and the screw since the Renaissance when they were defined. the reason they don't really get talked about in elementary school is because they are far and away the most complicated of the six, and it's way above a fourth grader's pay grade to try and understand how they work.
the reason why the pulley and the wheel and axle are different comes down to torque. in general, a pulley will have a net torque in the direction of its rotation, whereas a wheel will have a net torque in the direction opposite its rotation. in layman's terms, a pulley wants to _continue_ spinning, and a wheel wants to _stop_ spinning. you can imagine why this difference is significant enough to warrant separate classifications: imagine a pulley that constantly fights against you, or a wheel you can't stop when you need to.
the reason why the screw and the wedge are different comes down to the complexity introduced by the rotational motion of the screw. the rotation of the screw converting to translational motion through a surface, the increasing friction and pressure which vary with depth... it's so much more complex in terms of free body diagrams and analysis compared to a wedge that you just can't put them in the same bucket.
