  • One of the first Lucky Chops songs I listened to, "Coco", written by Josh Holcomb from the brassband ‪@LuckyChops‬ is a tune which can be easily embellished or expanded upon, while still being recognizable with its catchy groove! It was the inspiration for this fun little album I will be slowly building...All Covered Up is an album consisting of songs I cover myself and post to the "All Covered Up: 1st Album" playlist on my channel page under the "playlists" tab (spoiler alert, most of from Lucky Chops).
    ==================================
    Music Software: GarageBand (on iPhone)….coincidentally recorded in my actual garage!
    ==================================
    Instruments used:
    Clarinet (Trumpet Part)
    Alto Sax (Tenor Sax Part)
    Alto Sax 2 (Trombone Part)
    Bari Sax
    Bari Sax 2 (Sousaphone Part)
    GarageBand Drums (beat/s and fills made from scratch)
    I was actually able to make this in one day, over the span of around 10-11 hours from playing to posting (practically spent almost all day in the garage recording and tinkering). This just goes to show that with enough consistency, hard work, and passion, you can achieve anything you put your mind to! 🙏
    ==================================
    I hope to make studio recordings with my fellow friends from ‪@kickbrass_official‬ like this in the future, but until then enjoy the music, come see us on July 21st (2022) at Orlando's Southern BBQ for our upcoming gig, and have yourself a wonderful day!

      Honestly I would tell you if I could, but it’s really hard to explain (for me at least). Essentially you’re sliding your bottom lip up the reed while tightening your throat and pushing faster air into the horn. Having a high baffle mouthpiece (mine has one called a “step baffle”) really helps, along with a wider tip opening (I use an 8*), this makes it more freeblowing and easier to manipulate. This translates to all saxes however it only really works optimally on baritone and bass saxophones (and lower ones). Hope this helps, you can also search up “saxophone overtone glissando tutorial” on TH-cam and there are a few that have been pretty helpful! 🤙
