Getting your education isn’t just about the money spent, but the opportunities one will have. If you could get a full ride to a school that had your major, but not a lot of chances to explore outside of that versus a school that you would have to pay for but had so many programs and ways to network and explore, you would only get so far with the degree you got for free. At TUM you only pay about 300€ every 6 months but this includes a public transportation ticket and you get lots of benefits for city activities. @@Aj-sn1dp Yes it's true, for certain degrees I would say it's not easy, especially law. But I specifically mentioned computer science. It's definitely a good option if you want to study in the STEM field, having a good education in a prestigeous university while paying almost nothing. And changing degrees is not a problem at all! We also have the Bachelor and Master degree system and universities in europe can transfer your grades to another system if preferred. That's the smallest issue. But as I said: it makes most sense to see it as another option if you want to study in a STEM field. You are probably saving more money when moving to europe rather than studying in an Ivy League university. If you consider the cost of living and tuition fees in Munich, it'll cost you a fraction of what you would have paid for the tuition fees alone in well known American universities.

And don't forget that as an American you gain more foreign knowledge and experience which is highly valuable in business. You won't get that if you study in the US only. I watched your video on how far your salary goes in NYC after paying rent and your student loans and realized if you had no regrets then why were you whining that you essentially had only 3K a month to spend on everything else? That you were essentially one of the hundreds of thousands of professional working poor living in NYC. To anyone listening, your student loan payment & the rent each were the cost of a mortgage payment in any midsized city in America so you were paying that to a landlord and a bank for the next 30yrs with nothing to show for it. 1. Because you can't afford to own anything if you're paying rent. 2. The sad truth about professional advancement in NYC is, as one of thousands of available junior law associates working in NYC your chances of breaking out and moving up in any law firm in town and making more money is pretty slim. Competition is pretty fierce for getting noticed and standing out unless that Harvard law degree came with a pedigree of which, if you had to borrow money to get, says that like the majority of your competition, you do not have. An Old Money pedigree with an Ivy League education are the only things that work in NYC. So just getting by for the next 30yrs means you've traded the less stressful experiance of three yrs at Harvard for the rest of your personal life after Harvard. No family; no home; no life beyond paycheck to paycheck. Or, you can pick another city to live in and grow professionally. Seattle, Portland, Dallas, Kansas City, the Bay Area even L.A. can give you a better chance than NYC because unlike the East Coast, the West Coast believes in entrepreneurs.

Idk how it works in the states but my mom works for the largest firm here in Canada and she says that they take the two top of class students from each school. The more prestigious schools are much more competitive so its much harder to be the top of your class. She always recommends going wherever for undergrad, but going to a “second” tier uni for law school. (Here altleast the only difference is that the “second” tier schools haven’t been around as long and dont have the same ‘established prestige’ but the quality of education is just as good.
