I'm intrigued by how you factored in Pepe's sign into your analysis of the character and her choices. I'm guessing its under the presumption that the show writers purposely incorporated the traits into the character and didn't choose her birthday arbitrarily, or a second option that's harder to explain where astrology speaks to something that both transcends and embeds itself into creative works.
There is a scientific basis for personality traits based on when you were born. It has to do on how much sun your mother received at what point in your development when you were in the womb. For example a baby born in March their mother would have gotten the most amount of vitamin D at the very beginning of the pregnancy the first trimester. If you were born in the summer you would have gotten the most vitamin D during the last trimester. Do you see what I mean? And there really is a personality correlation between how much vitamin D a fetus is received during what point in brain development. BUT now what most expecting mothers are taking prenatal vitamins throughout the whole pregnancy so they receive an even amount of vitamin D so it's not as accurate as it used to be. And of course people who live in places where it's sunny year round their mother received an even amount of vitamin D as well so the personality stuff doesn't apply to them really either. ( There does seem to be some correlation with mental illness though. Having too much vitamin D from constantly being in the sun isn't good for a developing fetus.) It can't predict the future. But it is accurate a large amount of people personality wise.
@@WhitneyDahlin that's interesting, Ive never looked into it but I always assumed that it had to do with how the baby after being born and entering the world was met with the seasons, not so much about Vitamin D, but things like being hardened towards a difficult winter as initial experience or happier and more secure during summer
I've seen this anime several times and episode 4 is the most tragic one I feel really bad for Pepe and her younger sister Lulu I felt like Pepe should have tried to be a little bit more smart about it but given the environment that her and her sister were in I can understand why she doesn't trust people so easily and Rico is a piece of trash of a man but sadly these two men a tragic end at the hand of a gun
When you were showing some opening anime clips, I noticed the skating clip from the momento Mori episode of the show death parade. I remember the first time seeing that and feeling so deeply sad by the end…a beautiful episode that hit me hard but was so beautiful. Since you shared something that’s important to you, I thought I’d share that. I love your video and I would like to see what other shows you are invested/ will talk about in the future.
Hi Ky 🙋🏾♀💕 Your essays are so good! I've been a fan of Michiko & Hatchin for years, and I hope you do more videos about it sometime ^_^ The setting is supposed to be real-life Brazil (as seen through the eyes of a Japanese woman who visited once, lol). Pepe and Lulu were probably trying to move to another state in the country. And yes, it really is that diverse and beautiful and scary down there ... or so I hear 😅
Love this! I was drawn to the title of the video because I recently finished watching Attack on Titan for the first time and was emotionally devastated lol. This was a great breakdown of the episode, I love the art style and now wanna check out the series. Thanks for putting it on my radar 😊
i remember seeing this anime mentioned in another video essay a while ago, is it made by the same people who made nana? i saw nana in the intro !! i can already guess that the nana video (if you're making/made one already) will be about either episode 34 (strawberry glasses breaking) or the one where hachi finds out abt shoji and sachiko definitely gonna check out michiko and hatchin !!
Gosh, I love your videos. This is the most immersed I’d ever been in a video for a longggg time & I heard of this anime now I’m def gonna watch it. Thank you for your videos, genuinely 🩷✨
It discusses a lot of the sad realities of being poor in a poor community/country. It’s not upbeat but the leading characters are lovable that you’ll keep watching hoping for a better future for them.
No one hardly ever talks about this anime and it’s one of my favs😭😭😭 Every time I rewatch it I tend to skip this episode lol. I think the sisters were an obvious parallel to Michiko and Hatchin and I think it particularly triggered Michiko because it showed how if she messed up in the slightest it would be big consequences for her and most importantly Hatchin!
I'm always happy to see more people talking about Michiko & Hatchin, I wish the series got more love here in Brazil
the series was made by a women who wanted a show for women after work the environment choice was inspired by her trip to such a country
This episode leaves me so sad! 😔✨️
I was just thinking about Pepe but I’m also tragically upset bc I know for a fact Lulu is dead
Love this anime so much!

I've been planning on watching the show. Is it normally this sad? Also you ate with the storytelling of the episode

Can you talk about the anime Peach Girl?
i love Peach Girl and I am working on a video for it already!
No one hardly ever talks about this anime and it’s one of my favs😭😭😭

why skip any episodes there all really neat
the scene of Hana having a drunken conversation is adorable the why she hops on the counter
I wish you spent less time retelling the story.
