The animators left out a small but important bit of info in the scene with Hwang in the Hospital room. The director guy showed him some surveillance video of Jinwoo's father saving people from the collateral damage of their fight. So he did not really believe that Sung's father was a magic beast. I can't imagine why this was left out, it should not have taken more then 15-20 seconds to keep that in.
