Anschutz Model 64 MPR# Mag Fed vs Hand Fed????

- In this Video we are seeing if there is a difference in 5 shot groups @50YRDS with using the Magazine vs Hand Fed. Using a Anschutz model 64 MPR to do the testing with hope you and enjoy and see you on the one!!!!
what they teached us was to take the shooting position with the butstock against your shoulder and then you take your trigger hand and put that hand on the part of your rifle where you need to insert the bullet (while your ellbow is rested on a table). And from there you put your shooting hand on the table(while elbow is still rested), now you know the spot your hand would naturally touch and thas where your single bullets have to lay on the table and you can pick them up naturaly without stop looking thou the scope. that will increase your acuraccy, they told us the less movement you have to do inbetween shots the better. greetings from a german
Excellent video learn something new today looking forward to more of your videos
Awesome, thank you!
I think you’re exploring the right things to achieving accuracy. It can be maddening at times. Finding the perfect combination of ingredients. That Annie is the shit, man. I’m a CZ guy, but that rifle is in the near future. Keep up the process.
The Annie is what I could afford at that time it’s one of there cheapest model. Thanks man.
The 64 action has reached the end of its life cycle. Get one if you can find it.
@@304rimfire5 it's still an anshutz though.
Thats right
I have a single shot adapter magazine
In my 64 from anschutz make loading a lot easier thanks for the video keep up
The good work
Thank you!!!
I've always been told that hand fed was better, so I got a single shot adapter for my Anschutz 1450 and it worked. Groups tightened up nicely.
Hand fed all the way, all you have to do is look at the top benchrest, 3 position and prone shooters and you won't see any magazines. There are even theories about how to hand feed, whether to seat the round all the way into the chamber or half way and let the bolt seat the rest. All very interesting stuff. Glad to see someone on here doing proper testing with good equipment and ammo! Keep it up.
I have also a MPR, could you tell us more about hand feed procedure or where to find this info, please
@@mascotaski I'm a prone shooter and have been for many years, at the club I shoot at one of our very good shooters who has been an international shot for 20+ years was talking to me about loading rounds into the chamber, using a single shot rifle (or a magazine rifle but hand feeding as in the video) there are 3 main techniques, some people place the round on the loading tray (or magazine) and use the bolt to push the round into the chamber, others place the round into the chamber fully and then lock in with the bolt and some place the round half way into the chamber and follow up with the bolt. A very well known rimfire manufacturer (I can't remember exactly who it was either Eley, Lapua or RWS, I'm pretty sure it was RWS) completed extensive testing on these 3 techniques in a 50 yard tunnel range with the rifle clamped in a vice (very similar to a batch testing set-up) they concluded that loading the round half way into the chamber then allowing the bolt to index the round the last of the way was the most optimal for consistency, then in second place was pushing the round fully into the chamber, they concluded that letting the bolt load the round from the loading tray should be avoided as it proved the least consistent. I use this as my basis for my conclusion as a bolt loading from a magazine I would believe to be similar to a bolt loading from a loading tray. It's all about consistency in this game. Hope this answers your question.
Thanks man Im trying my best to think of new ideas and provide good content.
@@nathanael4520 Thank you for share us this useful information, at the end, no matter what shoot technique you are in, helps a lot to place properly the round into the chamber and avoid some bullet deformation when chambering.
Hand fed seems to be the winner , like to see that repeated with no wind . Nice demonstration though I am going to try that with my 22’s
Great video I always did hand feed so I was used to it when I got my Anschutz 54 action benchrest which is a single shot keep up the good work they
Use the pinch method on the trigger that may help you tighten up your groups even more
Thanks
I don't know why but those handfed groups are awesome.
Thanks
Great job & good luck guy!
Thank you for very useful info. Seems like mag feed gives flyers ocasionally - (provided rim thickness and bullet diameter is uniform )
I was thinking the same thing that it creates more flyers.
Got the same rifle, only ammo I run through it is the SK trainer, 500 rounds in a tin can. It will shoot 1/2 groups all day at 50M if I do my part. Makes all other 22 rifles feel like crap. Use to own a Ruger precision rimfire and now a Tikka T1X, neither holds a candle to Annie. Only negative is sometimes a spent cartridge doesn't eject and get hung up in the well, known Annie 64 problem which can be remedied.
Love my Annie I bought it for local matches to shoot so I would have to take my CZ 457 and put a barrel and trigger to make it shoot as good rather leave it factory for the factory classes.
always heard hand feeding better. would like you to try cz 457 since the bullet jumps up before entering barrel
Handfed all the time for me 👍Also thanks for these videos, we are on Total lockdown here in the UK, stay home unless going to work or shopping for essential's 🙄
Dang that sucks hope it gets better over there and you can get out of the house. Thanks
Sightron. I have a 10-50 love it
SIGHTRON Great job
Good shooting
Thanks
Ive always felt single loading was superior for accuracy. Most early precision .22's were single feed only. The lead nose of the .22lr cartridge is simply a delicate round. If your lucky, only a bit of wax or lube will be wiped off from the feedramp upon exiting the mag. But if you think about it, you want consistent lube all the way around that 40gr. bullet when its fully seated in the chamber before it heads down the barrel. That way, you'll get the most uniform consistent spin with each shot. Of course, single loading isn't practical for most timed competitions.
Great vid, I’ve just bought a magazine adapter for my 64 MPR however Covid as closed all our ranges here in the UK
I thought the MPR came as a magazine fed rifle?
@@nathanael4520 You can put on it a single shot magazine adapter and ready to hand feed usage
@@mascotaski ah yes I think I have seen these before, all of my Anschutz rifles (1411, 2013, 1903) are all single shot I was wandering if Graham had converted something like a 1903 (which has a 64 single shot action) to be magazine fed.
Yea Im ordering one monday from Anschutz.
Yea you can order them from Anschutz There like 25 buck what it is a plastic mag that goes in the existing mag and allow you to load single. Here's a link:www.anschutznorthamerica.com/store/p160/Single_Shot_Adapter_.22LR.html
I am watching shoot like a rookie. First, you have to square yourself to the target, the but is on your arm not the crook of your shoulder. I shoot the same rifle with a 30 power scope. I consistently shoot sub .3 and more often .2's. I was given a 2013 for my 70th birthday last fall and now I am shooting sub 2's. I have a .089, 010, and a .003. I shoot affordable ammo, SK yellow. It's not the sword, it's the swords man.
I watch you push a shot and then pull a shoot, use your sighter and trust the location to work from.
Shoot straight and believe in yourself. Dave
In some cases maybe there is a slight difference between hand Vs mag fed but for me it’s to small to notice. I’ve seen multiple times where people try hand feeding an mpr and miss the chamber. Magazine makes it a lot easier to load.
Plus with my 64 mpr I’ve stacked 5 shots at 50 yards into a group that looks like a 3 shot ragged hole with iron sights
Handfed personally, less potential damage to the round when feeding
Just ordered a 14rd 22lr stock bullet holder so I can hand load my ammo with the 77/22.
My m1403 is only single shot.Single shot was good enough for our ancestors, so it should serve us today.Clips are big ammo and money wasters, and I avoid them, as well as the dreaded magazines, that those in the USA enjoy calling them, that here in Canada, we read in doctors offices.
Sightron. Thanks
What kind of shooting stool do you have ? I also like the forend adapter - which type ? I have the 64MPR and love it. Center-X is best in mine.
Good shooting. sightron
Front rest is a Caldwell Rock BR
Not sure what you mean by for end adapter if your meaning the base plate here is a link of the one I have.www.midwayusa.com/product/1006555059?pid=955637
@@304rimfire5 Thanks - that is what I was asking about
That anchatchz doesn't shoot as well as my cz457stocost as much as they do. I was seriously thinking about buying one but I don't think it will outshoot my cz457s. I may be wrong but I don't think so, good shooting bro.
mag fed vs hand fed. I always hand feed. Sightron
I tried this with my RPR but the loading port is too small or my fingers are too big, half the time the round would hit the back of the barrel. I would have to stand up to load.
I think it the wind and ammo is more of a factor than hand fed or mag fed for accuracy. I am not convinced it makes any difference unless there was a lot more testing. ps ( I always wondered why the Biathlon shooters in the Olympics always use hand fed Anschutz rifles ! ps (in the Winter Olympics in Korea all the rifles from all the countries represented in the Biathlon rifle competition were Anschutz rifles 😉 That included men, women and mixed doubles in other shooting competitions. Amazing that there were no other rifle mfgs. represented from any other countries in the world) !
Can’t hand feed my 457 varmint but wonder if you were settled more when hand feeding.
Definitely hand fed! How are you liking the Sightron? I hand feed all my rounds when bench shooting!
I like the sightron but I’m use to variable power so getting use to it. The quality is mid grade nothing fancy.
@@304rimfire5 the field of at 36 power is sometimes hard to find your target! I have a Weaver 36 and B & L 36 that I use for KYL at 70 yds and dots at 30 yds hard to find them at times.
Sightron!
Hand feed for sure, what ammo you using in your Anschutz 64?
Rws 50 is what it really likes
What's the effective range of this model ? 200 mts ?
I use the single shot adapter for the mpr, it's a tad easier that way and yeah shouldn't damage the round as much, if you load a round from the mag and then eject it with out firing you will see the damage. I have a couple of mags and they mark up the lead in different ways you can try to tweak the top of the mag to reduce that damage and I guess if you use the same mag all the time you would at least have a consistently marked round. What rest is that? Any chance you could review it? Thanks
Its a Caldwell Rock Br rests. Yea I can do a review on it.
@@304rimfire5 Cool, I'm looking at either a Seb mini or one of the Cicognani rest for about the same money. That should be enough rest for any competitions I do in the future but again it's a much larger investment than anything from Caldwell.... The fire control rest they have looks quite good but I'd probably rather just pay the extra now and then not have to think about upgrading for a long time.
@@Kellier1916 yea the fire control rest is not worth the money its nice to have that fast handle to get on the target but I hear that they droop or they got slack in the up in down for your vertical movement so when you get it on the bull and let go of handle that it drops down alittle bit
@@304rimfire5 I'll defo stay away from that so, thanks for the tip.
Noticed that flyers existed with my ammo also. Thought it was me, but I think ammo is also part of the equation.
yea man there will always be some flyers in a box that I have found out.
Sightron . Try 2 groups lifting your cheek off stock and 2 groups keeping your cheek on stock for comparison
Great idea
I agree. In between shots keep the buttstock in your shoulder pocket, keep your cheek weld, rest your thumb on top and don't wrap it around your pistol grip and get more behind the rifle than beside it so much.
Thanks for the videos.
Sorry for the bad English
I, am from Holland
I believe that hand feed is better than magazine feeding. What I can’t understand is why do you take your head off the stock between shots. Don’t you think it is hard to being persistent with your shooting.
I like to reset every time reason I take my head up. You have the little recoil and need to reset the gun its just how I shoot I guess and ended up finish 3rd place in the National Agg for American Rimfire Associations out of 500+ shooters. Won the Ohio State Indoor and Outdoor Shoots and West Virginia State outdoor shoot and also won the points for the state of WV.
I have a cz 455 bee yellow
When I use mag load and unload 5 x times then check the bullet heads my gun chaves off some lead
That's why I load single shoots 🔫👍👍
handfed sightron
Sightron
Keep it up 😁
Thanks 😅
SIGHTRON! Hand fed vs Mag fed.
I prefer "Single Shot" over a magazine. I've watched guys shoot their repeaters and it seems to me they rush their shots. Shooting single shot you're forced to slow down and concentrate more. (Just my $.02)
Agree
Hand fed vs mag fed
In my experience I have found that feeding threw the mag causes issues the bullet can get scribed from the mag lips and going into the chamber. Also when I load i place the round completely into the chamber as pose to just Laing on the mag feed ramp. Have fun in Fresno and tell Jim Starr I said hi and look forward to shooting with him again.
Ps keep the sightron on the Anschutz and forget the cz.
Will do!!
Patrick Jim is a awesome dude I shared a bench with him last year at states first time I met and he he was very nice we. Does he still shoot ol Leroy
@@304rimfire5 we shoot ABRA matchs so he had a 10/22 rifle, and a bolt gun. I think he sold the one gun as I think I remember someone else shooting it. It was a green stocked gun with a 4 leaf clover on it. I think it might have been old Leroy.
Yea he was telling me about a place in Ohio that shoots the abra events
@@304rimfire5 that is us. Black swamp rifle and pistol club I am the match director.
Handfed vs magfed.
Ok un colpo alla volta. Secondo me con quella carabina e doppio appoggio sbaglia qualcosa. Rosate troppo larghe. Saluti Fulvio

You're going to need to return to the same spot under arrest another words return to battery
