Very interesting discussion - I would disagree with Kieran that no one else has done what Kerr has though, yes she was top scorer in the W-League and NWSL but didn't win a championship and most players don't play in multiple leagues because most of the European leagues are longer. She didn't make much of an impact at the World Cup frankly and Australia went out in the Round of 16. On that level I think Miedema deserves it - top scorer and league champion in the FAWSL plus broke the Netherlands all-time goal scoring record and helped the team to the World Cup final. She's definitely played at a high level for both club and country this season.
Kerr carries her whole team on her back for both club and country and she had an impact on the world cup. Viv has better support in club and country and doesn't put in much effort like sam does

Agree that the Ballon d'Or should be based on club performance + this year's wc. If it's awarded to only players who only performed well at the wc then it should be scrapped altogether because the wc already has its own awards. My vote would go to Sam Kerr, Vivianne Miedema, Lucy Bronze, or Amandine Henry. 3 clubs are currently in the run for Kerr's signature: Chelsea, Tacon/Real Madrid (next year), PSG. I think she will go to PSG just because Chelsea's forward line is so stacked as is and Tacon's near the bottom of the league table. Also can't wait to watch The Other Half.

But the NWSL fan vote was only 20% of the total vote. Somebody (owners/media) had to vote for them to make the final 11. The only true opinions I trust are the players. Everyone's vote should be made public, with fan votes being kept to twitter polls.
Can you do a video going to IFK Göteborg vs Djurgården/AIK/Hammarby live? IFK Göteborg is the best team in Gothenburg and we are rivals to all those Stockholm teams, its incredible!
