Can I just say I really love how well all the videos on the channel are produced? Big up to the production team! I just got my first camera and I’m looking to start shooting soon so I really appreciate this!
One day I'll do a video on that. I'm a Sony shooter, been using the a99 and a99ii for a long time now. Maybe soon moving to the Sony mirrorless system. Pretty much all my lenses are vintage Minolta, not to be a hipster, but because Minolta glass mounts natively to Sony, and I love the colours. My primry lens is the Minolta 80-200 2.8, my copy of which is from 1993, but it still works great!
Great interview. It would be also nice to hear an interview with Ryu Voelkel. He is a sport photographer who mainly shoots football but started shooting climbing competitions a year or so. He has a different perspective on (sport) photography and it would be nice to hear his take on climbing photography Edit: I just noticed that you have included some of his photos in the video already :)
Tell me about it! Good thing is I get to catch up a few days between comps most of the time. Events like World Champs and Youth World Champs kill though, ten or eleven days long, editing every night... Thankfully I've been able to bring on an assistant for most events this year though the efforts of the IFSC, it's letting me get photos out quicker, and get an hour or two more sleep every evening!
He his the official IFSC Photographer, works like a mule for them and he needs a founding page and donations???? My suggestion for someone that likes photography and climbing? Find another work.
Sadly, image theft (even by big companies and publications) is rife, and it makes the job pretty rough at times. The funding page is from last year, but I keep it open to accept donations from people who enjoy and appreciate my work. We live in a very different economic scenario to when I was young. There was a time before the proliferation of digital media when magazine sales were huge, advertising was big and the money would flow within the sport. Now, magazines struggle, digital media has little perceived value (even though we're all pretty much addicted), and the money we used to spend back into the climbing industry through magazines etc, goes to internet service providers and mobile providers... Who of course have no interest in paying creators...
@@eddiefowke I am sure you need the supporting page if you have it. It's just sad that you work that much and you don't have a fix income and is not much encouraging for people who starts from nothing.. where are they going if even the official photographer of the Federation can't live from his hard work? Best wishes though!
@@eddiefowke Still sympathise greatly with you Eddie. As a music creator, I face a similar struggle, though currently you're a few steps ahead of me professionally. Fantastic to watch this and see what you've been up to.
Very cool interview and mister Fowke seems like a terrific guy with a great work ethic, but why would we donate to him if this is his JOB and he gets paid to do it?
yeah I agree - just don't get it. If an opinion is being videoed - someone's take on a recent movie and you disagree, then sure, dislike. Or if it's a badly written tuition video, then go for it. But an interview of Eddie and him describing the life of a professional photog? Just losers living in their parents' basements, playing Fortnite all day and getting tipsy on alco-pops.

Thank you!
Great video ! Though it would have been interesting to see what gear he uses, how he edits, basically all the work that goes through a shot
Gear and editing doesn't really matter. He talks about what's really important which is great.

Can this guy get Red Bull as a sponsor
Hope this guy gets paid a ton.

Who disliked Eddie :(
