Man, I picked up my M6 last week and I have been glued to your channel ever since. You are the 'go to' person for information regarding all of my camera questions. You even answer the questions I have yet to ask. haha. Thank you much my brother. Peace.
Hey brother, your videos are always so helpful, thankyou for sharing them, quick question, I have the m6 and shoot YT videos at 50fps most of the time however sometimes accidentally bump the Shutter speed as it sits in the left corner of the screen. This is so frustrating and kills my slow motion videos, is there any way to lock the settings that you know of? Thanks in advance and have a great day
Mark, thanks so much for this video. I'm ready to throw my Canon M6 out. I've gone over this video a few times and followed the steps, but my camera is still not setup. I've got it plugged into the elgato Camlink via HDMI Camera is in the video function The camera keeps the box focusing on my face The camera turns off I'm trying to use this camera for recording my youtube/fb videos which are done on my big PC here. Any tips would be amazing. THANK YOU.
Great M6 videos, you answered all the questions I was having to help make my decision, and after watching all the videos, I decided to finally buy one. I've been using it for a few days now and I am absolutely in love with it. Thanks again and keep up the great channel.
Sorry, already selling off the M3 to drop the price on the M6:) Could see myself getting an M3 in the future just to do a quick comparison though. But having used both, basically.... If you don't mind overheating, hence doing only quick bursts of video, and don't mind having directional quality external audio, then the AF of the Sony really kicks the canons ass. So A5100 it is. If you are doing longer takes, then M3. Because it is a workhorse, slow but steady. AF isn't reliable in difficult lighting situations though, but overall gives you an ok performance. Also you can use external audio with the hacks on the channel: th-cam.com/video/q88p4CdchmI/w-d-xo.html Sony doesn't have a touch screen, and doesn't shoot 720p. The canon m3 does. Dynamic range is better by almost a full stop with the Sony. In the end you either favor stellar AF over overheating and external audio (Sony A5100), or no overheating and external audio over stellar AF (EOS M3). Hope that helps you out a little. Greetings!
Thank you for sharing this information. Sorta quick but amazingly in depth. The more I read and watch about this M6, the more I am convinced that this is the absolute perfect camera. I wished it had 4K option, but I'm sure the M6-2 will.
You*re welcome, Dr Dimento! Man....if it had 4k.......it would be a K I L L E R Kinda doubt Canon will do that.....but they have to at some point in the future I guess....and the M line is prefect for that. Greetings!
Hey, Dx9anas! Looks ok form factor wise, but the AF isn't really good, though the face detection should help out in that department. No external audio input, no headphone input. 28mm full frame equivalent on the wide end in my opinion is too narrow a viewing angle for vlogging. Should be at the very least a 24mm. Does not shoot 60p anything. 1080p24, 720p30, 480p30 thats's it. Can't use micro windmuffs to protect the internal mics from wind due to their location on the camera body. Dynamic range at around 11 stops could be a little better but the effective ISO at 650 considering sensor size i alright though. Mh.....don't think it's all that good for vlogging....never owned one though. Then again you can get it REALLY cheap used....and if you don't mind the lack of fluid motion from the 60p video and the probably not very good internal audio quality, you are getting full hd at 24fps. That's the core basic to have:) My main concern is the narrow wide end. Wide and super wide angles are almost the bread an butter visual aesthetics for vlogging these days. Hope that quick analysis helped you out a little. Greetings!
One of the most useful videos about a camera I ever watched.. Thank you! Next time maybe speak and show steps a bit slower, if I want to set this up on my camera I'll have to hit that pause button a lot :)
Thanks a lot for the nice comment, Heki Dayo! You*re right, I haven't paced that video well......sry....glad you still got some useful info out of it:) Greetings!
Hey there tubenoob! could you make a video about the different lens adapters from canon eos m to ef/ef-s and what the differences are between cheap and expensive adapters?
I had a Sony a5100 but I decided so sell it after 6 month and to get this one instead. I hope I made a good choice. The sony didn't have any IS and it annoyed me very much, too much editing and I am used to work with canon. Also with an adapter I can use my current lenses :D Your videos are amazing, will re-watch after I get my new one!
Hey there again, Noomie:) Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a nice comment:) You will definitely love this upgrade:) The M6 is a great little camera. In general, lately canon really comes out with great cameras for vloggers.....M6......Sl2.......M100.....as soon as they put 4k in a 1500 dollar body....sony gets killed big time....:)......all the best and greetings!
Thank you so much! I'm just getting started and knew NOTHING about the camera. I just got it yesterday. This was VERY fast, so you're right, pausing was my friend. lol It was very informative and showed me a lot. I'm ready to go now. It was extremely helpful. Thanks again!
You*re very welcome! I sometimes do, but you need the right lens for that. If I want bokeh, I use the 50mm F1.8 STM from canon and adapt it via the efs to efm adapter. The 22mm f2 stm m lens you can use without an adapter. With the kit lens you get some bokeh, but not a lot. Pretty much for bokeh, background blur, you need a fast lens, f2.8 at least, preferably f1.8, and shoot it wide open at f1.8 for example. Hope that helps you out a little. Greetings!
Great video full of useful tips thank you. As a new owner to an M6 this is just what I have been looking for, may well tweak a couple of settings myself but your suggestions and explanation of the appropriate menus has been fantastic. Thanks again
Do I have to change the settings every time I switch from stills to movie and back? Also why does image quality not concern you? I just shot a 2 min video ar 25fps which was 364Mb file size in camera. For a 10 min video that equates to a massive file before rendering. Thank you.
No, you don't. What makes you say I am not concerned about image quality? Well, "massive" is a relative term. The file size is pretty normal in my estimation for mid quality fhd60p.... What are you used to?
TubeNoob thank you! Will check them out. I got canon m6 a few months ago and now confused because it is not supported by eos utility for live video shooting, and canon camera connect can't do this function as well.
Hey Mark finally got my m6 today but mine doesn't offer continuous auto focus just enable disable or enhanced, my software version is 1.0 maybe that had something to do with it?
Hey, Steve:) Good to hear from you. It's not the firmware, I have the same one. Could it be that you+re talking about image stabilization? Because AF options sound more like "face tracking and tracking" for example. What lens are you using?
TubeNoob 18-55mm I watched your settings and it showed continuous stabilization and mine don't have that option. I'm blown away with the auto focus now, so much better than my m3. Now I get no focus hunting.
Are you in movie mode or one in one of the other modes.......the only lens I know whithin the stm m lens selection that doesn't come with stabilization is the 22mm pancake....the 18 55 really should have that.......is there optical stabilization when you use the camera? So maybe you simply can't turn the optical stabilization off....just turn the digital on or off........but I had the 18 55 for a long time and I cant remember a time when I couldn't turn the stabilization off.... AF is great on the M6 for sure.
What an amazing video brother, I just got so much from this one, thank you 🙏 I commented on another video the other day with the focus issue I was having with the m3, your help was great but the focus was to slow for me so I decided to go and buy the m6. :) Have you got a video on lighting? If not I’d love to see you shoot a video about ‘how to get good lighting for youtube videos’ I just did some keyword research on this for you and it’s definitely something that would get watched especially with your amazing video and editing skills. Ideas for this video: 1.the best affordable ceiling lights, 2. leds or fluro? 3. the best led stand lights. (The big bulky lights just take up so much room) people like myself would benefit from knowing more about the right lighting.
Hey there! I remember:) Good choice, the focus is much better with the M6. Well, I have a lighting tutorial, but it is related to a black screen: th-cam.com/video/Y9oN1tw-ao0/w-d-xo.html I will look into such a video for sure. Thanks for the info. Currently I use rather large softbox led lights, which do take up a lot of space, but are pretty good as well. The larger the softbox or diffusor the softer the shadows. That's why I use them. I have never worked with ceiling lights actually.....but if I was to to that I would go with dimmable LED lights with a 5000-55000k colour temperature. Daylight basically..... As far as led light stands go, I think the aputure amaran line of led lights I use in the tutorial video mentioned above is a pretty damn good bang for your buck start. Not cheap, but also not expensive given the features. I am also currently looking at decent budget ringlight options for lighting.....it'll be a while until I come out with the video, but until then just ask me here if you have questions. Hope that helps you out a little. As said....more questions? Just ask.....greetings!
TubeNoob Wow dude, you always over deliver with your reply’s, thank you and I will watch your other video after I finish writing this. Ring lights are great I think but be careful because I bought one from eBay for $80Aud and I was using it a lot and leaving it on while I was videoing. Only lasted 3 months and it’s stopped working, transformer is still putting out 15v but the light itself is dead :( I got myself a light weight flexible panel light to test out, it should arrive next month. I have plenty of ceiling space in my garage so I wonder if I should install 2 soft boxes up high but facing the subject or do you think that will create bad shadows?
A couple of flat led ceiling lights might be a better solution. Then again it is far easier to take the softboxes off than these lights I guess.......The bigger the surface area of the softboxes the softer the shadows. So in case of the flt led panels you could place a couple next to each other to create one really big led panel. Theoretically if the whole ceiling was one panel that would give you the least amount of drop shadow:) Some day I have to do that....:)
Hey, Frank Lipsky! Love to hear that....true I never get the pace right with these videos..:) I will compare it to the Canon 200D aka SL2 in the coming weeks. Greetings!
The Mic plug has too little room for a normal 3.5mm jack to plug completely to the bottom. The plastic wrap around the jack might stuck by the edge of the camera receptacle. It caused either no sound at all or cannot split stereo Left and Right properly. My Saramonic Receiver Mic Jack have problem with it and I took a whole day to figure it out.
Well that sucks......is it a weird jack on the mic side? So far my shotgun mics' cables have caused no problem with that. Is there a way to trim the excess rubber off the mic jack without damaging it.....other than that you could use an edutige ETG 002 to connect the mic cable, the adapter will fit perfectly. Hope that helps you out a little. Greetings!
The bad news is that I have trim the rubber off of an extend cable and the jack seat perfectly but M6 still mix the sound instead of recording Left and Right channel independently. My Saramonic Uw9 output is set to Stereo with Mic A and Mic B. The jack is 3.5mm TRS. However, I tried a smartphone TRRS jack to plug into the camera and speak to each of the ear bud and find that the camera does record sounds splitting to L and R.
I have 1 thing I can't figure out, no matter how many videos I watch: When I film video, and I bring something bright into the shot, like a piece of white paper, the camera automatically darkens the video. Which looks horrible afterwards. I want it to stop auto-adjusting to lightness when I'm shooting indoors. I've tried several settings, but it just won't stop doing it. (Canon EOS M6). Can you help me?
Hey, Frankie Grundler! No, not an easy one, or cheap one for that matter. The recording limits are set in stone, except if the magic lantern crew comes up with a release of it's software for the eos m6. You can record to an external recorder I believe and bypass the recording limit. But they don+t come cheap. 250 and upwards for a decent one is good. And of course the it stops being a mobile device. Interesting problem though. Sorry I don't have abetter answer:) Greetings!
Hey thanks for the tips. I find the audio from my Rode Video micro is pretty low/soft on my EOS M6 when I replayed my videos in the camera itself. Did you have any issue with this by using the same audio settings in the video?thanks for the help
Hey, Tai Chyuan Wong! The internal speakers of the M6 are cheap. They always sound bad. The actual audio is much better, especially when recorded with an external mic. As far as volume goes, make sure it's at top level - click "up" on click wheel during playback to see if you can make it louder. Greetings!
Hey, Tai Chyuan Wong! It is a pop up flash, if it's not popped up it wont do anything. SO it shouldn't bother you at all when recording video......or did I misunderstand your question? Greetings!
Prima Video.
I have a question, when shooting video outside in full auto mode, using 22mm f2 lens, everything seems to be very over exposed, what is the best way to correct this please ? thank you.
Are you sure everything is in Auto? Usually, even though f2 is wide open, thre should be no problem, because the camera will up the shutterspeed and drop the ISO......if where you*re shooting there's just lots and lots of light, then the easiest way would be to get a variable nd filter. Something like this: www.amazon.com/Concept-Variable-ND2-ND400-Adjustable-100-300mm/dp/B00JL4IN50/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1513373705&sr=8-3&keywords=variable+nd+filter Hope that helps you out a little. Greetings!
TubeNoob, yes everything is in auto, thank you for your recommendations, I shall try some different settings too, see what I can figure out. Thank you. Greetings.
Hey, haitham baloch! You will need extra batteries. The original one usually gets me somewhere around 80 to 100 minutes of video, depending on the settings and how much standby time I accumulate between shots. Greetings!
I just recorded the first video today for my wine channle using the M6 (planning to edit tomorrow) and I think the results are very good overall. I shoot in studio conditions, so I recorded in aperture priority mode. I found the autofocus very fast and reliable. Thanks a lo for your videos, they totally helped me choose the Canon. One simple question. Is there a possibility of displaying the audio levels on screen while recording? Thanks a lot.
You*re very welcome, legumbro! Much appreciate the nice comment! Sorry to say it, but the only way to see the audio levels is by toggling the display to the all settings screen, that's where you can see the levels. But as soon as you hit record you won't be able to monitor them on the camera. You could place a little audio recorder between the mic and the camera like the zoom h1 and monitor the levels there as a workaround for example...
TubeNoob thanks a lot! It was just curiosity. I don't really need it but it's always good if you have the possibility of having that information on screen. I have the feeling that the overall sharpness and detail is lower in the M6 as compared to the Sony RX100 III I had. I think it might be because of the codec. I'll try recording in 50p next time to see if there's any improvement. Thanks again dude
great video! I have a question though... I followed your steps and purchased the rode video mic me with trs to trrs cable. However, when I plug it in, no sound is recorded. I've made sure sound is enabled and settings are as per your video. I even tried a lavaliere mic I have and still no love. Am I missing something basic or do I need to contact Canon? My M6 is brand new. Faulty device or operator?
Apart from a faulty device the only thing I can think of is that the playback sound is muted...klick "up" on the klick wheel while playing back a clip to see what volume is set. Other than that...are all the jacks plugged in COMPLETELY.....?? Sometimes the mic me seems to be plugged into the adapter cable fully but actually isn't. Did you try the mics on other cameras to make sure they are not the problem?
TubeNoob thank you for taking the time to respond. I ended up calling Canon about the mic input after trying multiple cameras and mics. You were exactly right in your diagnosis. *The plug on the mic adapter was not fully seating in the camera receptacle* It looks as if it is fully seated but it actually has a small edge that needs to be filed off (filed the plastic edge off of rode mic adapter). Works like a champ! thanks again for all the help. Love the channel
Wow!!! This is an incredible video. Great job, I really appreciate you making this. You move fast so I had to pause a lot :) I am a professional magician and want to make sure all your settings are the correct ones for me when I am filming street magic. I use an external mic. Thank you.
Thanks Matthew Furnam! Much appreciate the nice comment:) Well, generally I would manually level an external mic to the distance needed, so the signal reaches -12dB. Now if you're not vlogging per se, but the subjects are at different distances, try auto and use the attenuator, in combination with the best wind protection for the mic you can get. That will regulate the gain to different distances, of course the closer tot he desired audio source the better. Wind can mess using an attenuator up pretty fast though, because even a little wind distortion will have the camera think the audio is peaking and down regulate the gain, and then your done because the voices will be way too in volume and bringing them up in post brings in lots of noise. BUT if the wind protection is very good there will be no wind distortion and the attenuator can work very well with the gain control. Do a testrun:) Hope that helps you out a little. More questions? Just ask.
Thank you TubeNoob for taking the time. I wasn't clear on my question. I use a lavalier mic (Tascam) and sync in post. I find it gives me the best audio. My question is on my camera settings for the best video possible. Wondering what you thought? Really appreciate it.
It is always kinda an individual deal to set up the white balance and the skin tone....it's really hard to give general advice on that topic. Glad you still enjoyed the video:) Many greetings!
Hey TubeNoob, can I ask you one question? I'm trying to take photos and videos in really low light but if I go to some place really dark, the screen suddenly moves really slow and it catches a terrible amount of light, and can't focus at all. I heard I have to change the iso to manual mode? and decrease the iso amount but I can't find the way to do so. Do you know how?
When you*re in a photo shooting mode, the camera will drop the shutter speed to very low numbers to get decent exposure, that's why the live view will start to lag. If you want to avoid laggy live view, this is what you can do. 1st camera menu, 1st sub menu, set "Expos." simulation" to Enable. This way at least for ISOs no higher than the 6400 you will get fluent live view. You could also shoot stills in movie auto exposure or manual exposure mode. But there your ISO is limited to 12800 and the min shutter speed is 1/8th of a second. In auto exposure mode the shutter speed will not drop below 1/30th so live view will always be fluent and in manual exposure mode you can choose the shutter speed yourself. Images will still be 3by2 if you haven't changed the aspect ration to 16by9 in the menu. Shooting stills in movie modes is probably your best option to solve the issue. Images with high ISOs have too much digital noise anyway, so 12800 shouldn't be a problem. The min shutter speed can be more of a problem, if you want to blur motion even more. Hope that helps you out a little. More questions, just keep asking. Greetings!
Well, in auto exposure modes you can't select the ISO, but in manual mode just tap it on the screen for example, then select the value you want. For faster selection you could set the function of the rear dial under the exposure compensation dial to function as the ISO value selector. Go to custom functions menu - C.Fn II:Others - 2nd sib menu custom controls - the again 2nd item "Dials" - then again it is the 2nd entry for the rear dial - then select the mode that is relevant for you and in the list below select ISO. This way you don't have to do it by touch.
I have a very specific question. Normally I shoot video with my 5d Mark III and I use the Rode Video Mic pro. I set my audio settings in the Camera all the way to the left, and one click to the right. The microphone, is normally at +20DB. So when I did that on the m6, the audio levels in the camera seem to hover around 12...like usual, but the audio is always digitally clipping and it's unusable. I then had to set the camera audio settings maybe 4 or 5 clicks from far left, and keep the microphone on neutral without the +20DB. With the Rode Video Mic Pro with the m6...do you experience this? What is your audio set up on the camera with this combo?
Hey, Geek level Asian! Currently I'm not at home because of the holidays, but I will check on the weekend...actually though, I am pretty sure I do it like you did with the Mark III, can't remember problems with peaking audio.....but I will make sure and get back to you. Could you drop me a quick pm on facebook, so I don't forget?: facebook.com/tubenoob/ Greetings!
TubeNoob great pls let me know. I put a video up of a comparison. Let me know if yours sounds like mine when talking about the m6 with the rode mic pro. If yours is better sounding...then my m6 might be not working properly.
So sorry for the delay....managing the comments in the youtube backend is terrible.....one endless lazy loading list... !!! Wait....I just saw your video comparison and you talk pretty loudly, turns out when I talk this loud I have the same problem !!! I don't talk as loud, that's why the camera didn't run into problems. I tested my video mic pro and didn't run into any problems using the +20dB setting and using a rec level of 1. I also compared it to 0dB and manual levels, +20dB gave me cleaner sound. I tested both modes with and without the low cut filter of the mic and it still worked....
TubeNoob interesting...I’m just recording right in my apartment. I put up a comparison on my page it’s like the third most recent video I think. It’s baffling me, I think maybe my m6 is messed up.
@@Mark10ProVideo thanks. I need someone who record continuously. For videography. Compact camera. Sony just launched a6400. It has unlimited capacity bt heat problem. Lumix gh5 has auto focus problem.
@@Mark10ProVideo also I came to that conclusion. Bt it looks old. Whatever. Then May be i will choose Panasonic v270 or canon vixia (which include external mic)
What mode are you in? Seems like something that might happen in iAuto...I haven*T experienced it myself, so if you can tell me as much as you can about the circumstances and settings you use, the more likely I can help you:)
TubeNoob Never mind I fixed it seem that my soon touch the touch bottom put it in another mood 🤦🏻♀️ but your video was helpful for a lot of other things thank you for even replying
Hey, Ceh Yong! For video the default is 16by9, for photos 3by3 makes mot sense because you gather more data/resolution than with 16by9. And you can always crop from a 3by2 to a 16by9 later in photoshop. So I would go with 3by2. Hope that helps you out. Greetings!
Omg thank you so much I really do appreciate you and so I'm so glad I found you and subscribe to your channel...your very informative and you make it the content simple for us first time camera user!!...will definitely be waiting to learn more for you!!..
Oh! Sorry, didn't get that.....no, they don't, but when playing back a clip, you can tap the screen and it will stop playback right there and the menu will show up. Tap play and playback continues.
Don't get me wrong: I loved the video...but I'm a noob and I need either slower instructions or more in-depth explanations. I'm...a little lost. I feel like if I do this setup, I WILL have the best setup for a VLOG but I won't know what to change in case I want to correct something/ which setting has which effect? Really good material...difficult to keep up :( sad for me
Oh with that one it's almost a plug and play deal. Plug it in - go to the sound recording sub menu - switch from auto to manual - go to rec level sub menu - point the mic at yourself and start talking into it with your normal voice at an easily sustainable volume - then use the click wheel on the back to set the level so the audio signal levels to -12 db when you talk. What rec level that is depends on your voice and the scenario you're in. There is no set rec level for everybody. Hope that helps you out. If not, keep asking:) Greetings!
Man, I picked up my M6 last week and I have been glued to your channel ever since. You are the 'go to' person for information regarding all of my camera questions. You even answer the questions I have yet to ask. haha. Thank you much my brother. Peace.
Watching this today because I am still using my canon m6 for my contents and I have no plans to upgrade for now. thanks buddy, really useful!
DUDE!!!! Thank you!! I've been filming and getting blury images for months!! Now it's super clear!!!
No problemo! Thanks for the nice comment, Yan Thériault:)
i wish if you can make video about it .
About the G1X?
Hey brother, your videos are always so helpful, thankyou for sharing them, quick question, I have the m6 and shoot YT videos at 50fps most of the time however sometimes accidentally bump the Shutter speed as it sits in the left corner of the screen. This is so frustrating and kills my slow motion videos, is there any way to lock the settings that you know of? Thanks in advance and have a great day
Thanks for the nice comment, man! Appreciate it! Unfortunatelly I don*t know of a "lock" function....
@@Mark10ProVideo Always welcome mate. Your channel is going strong :) great work
Thanks, man!
Mark, thanks so much for this video. I'm ready to throw my Canon M6 out. I've gone over this video a few times and followed the steps, but my camera is still not setup.
I've got it plugged into the elgato Camlink via HDMI
Camera is in the video function
The camera keeps the box focusing on my face
The camera turns off
I'm trying to use this camera for recording my youtube/fb videos which are done on my big PC here.
Any tips would be amazing. THANK YOU.
Great M6 videos, you answered all the questions I was having to help make my decision, and after watching all the videos, I decided to finally buy one. I've been using it for a few days now and I am absolutely in love with it. Thanks again and keep up the great channel.
Hey, Your Everyday Dad! Thanks for taking the time to write such a nice comment! Much appreciated:) Glad you enjoy your new camera. Greetings!
he man i really wish you can make A video comparing the canon eos m3 vs the sony alpha 5100😀
Also you can use external audio with the hacks on the channel: th-cam.com/video/q88p4CdchmI/w-d-xo.html
Sony doesn't have a touch screen, and doesn't shoot 720p.
Man....if it had 4k.......it would be a K I L L E R
Kinda doubt Canon will do that.....but they have to at some point in the future I guess....and the M line is prefect for that.
Greetings!
do you think the G1X is good for vlogging and does it shoot in 720p60
That's the core basic to have:)
My main concern is the narrow wide end. Wide and super wide angles are almost the bread an butter visual aesthetics for vlogging these days.
Hope that quick analysis helped you out a little. Greetings!
TubeNoob that's was really helpful, i was going to buy it for vlogging but now i know that it would have been a mistake.😁😁😀
Glad I could help:)
Have now splashed out on this camera and now need to start VLOGs with it! 👍🏼👍🏼
Love to hear that:)
Hey, odkeky! Will put that on the to do list! Greetings!
Thanks!
Just got a M6 and this video is super useful. Just need to rewatch it in 0.75x speed a couple times to keep up. :D
Happy to hear it was useful:) Yes, I get that comment a lot.....sry...
I just bought the eos m6 and this video is so helpful. A little fast to follow sometimes but still great. Thank you.
Thanks a lot for the nice comment, Juzalia Jumari! Glad you still got some useful info out of it:) And, of course, you*re very welcome!
Hey there again, Noomie:) Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a nice comment:)
You will definitely love this upgrade:) The M6 is a great little camera.
This was VERY fast, so you're right, pausing was my friend. lol
It was very informative and showed me a lot. I'm ready to go now. It was extremely helpful.
Thanks again!
You're very welcome:) Happy shooting!
Thanks for the good video. Do you use aperture shots (clear subject, fuzzy background) when shooting video? What are your settings for that?
You*re very welcome!
I sometimes do, but you need the right lens for that. If I want bokeh, I use the 50mm F1.8 STM from canon and adapt it via the efs to efm adapter. The 22mm f2 stm m lens you can use without an adapter. With the kit lens you get some bokeh, but not a lot. Pretty much for bokeh, background blur, you need a fast lens, f2.8 at least, preferably f1.8, and shoot it wide open at f1.8 for example.
Hope that helps you out a little. Greetings!
Such a big help, just got my new eos m6 mark ii. Im going to use your setting for vlogging. Thanks!!! Subscribed ☑️
Nice pick, that mark two is awesome!
Thanks for the support!
Great video full of useful tips thank you. As a new owner to an M6 this is just what I have been looking for, may well tweak a couple of settings myself but your suggestions and explanation of the appropriate menus has been fantastic. Thanks again
Hey, AboutFocusTV! Thanks for taking the time to write such a nice comment! Much appreciate it:) Greetings!
Hi! Is there any chance this camera connected to laptop for live view video? Thank you xx
Yes, absolutely. You can use an hdmi to usb 3 dongle and use for example OBS Software to go live.
TubeNoob it's working great and I couldn't be happier with the AF on this beast!
Cheers my friend
Still don*t know why the IS options are different......seems weird to me.....
Cheers to you to, my friend:)
What an amazing video brother, I just got so much from this one, thank you 🙏
I commented on another video the other day with the focus issue I was having with the m3, your help was great but the focus was to slow for me so I decided to go and buy the m6. :)
Have you got a video on lighting?
If not I’d love to see you shoot a video about ‘how to get good lighting for youtube videos’
I just did some keyword research on this for you and it’s definitely something that would get watched especially with your amazing video and editing skills.
Ideas for this video:
1.the best affordable ceiling lights,
2. leds or fluro?
3. the best led stand lights. (The big bulky lights just take up so much room) people like myself would benefit from knowing more about the right lighting.
Hey there! I remember:) Good choice, the focus is much better with the M6.
Well, I have a lighting tutorial, but it is related to a black screen: th-cam.com/video/Y9oN1tw-ao0/w-d-xo.html
I will look into such a video for sure.
Only lasted 3 months and it’s stopped working, transformer is still putting out 15v but the light itself is dead :(
I got myself a light weight flexible panel light to test out, it should arrive next month.
Testing some ringlights in the coming weeks as well......one for 60 one for 110 and one for 175...we'll see......
Thank you very much, Great Video. My pause button got a workout but I like that you are quick and to the point! I would love more videos about the M6.
Hey, Frank Lipsky! Love to hear that....true I never get the pace right with these videos..:) I will compare it to the Canon 200D aka SL2 in the coming weeks. Greetings!
Thank you so much for a to the point video! I just purchased this camera and can’t wait to set it up like this.
Love to hear that:) Glad it helped you out!
TubeNoob just finished setting it up. I’m looking like P Diddy now! 😎 new subbie
Halo sir, maybe this is out of the topic but Can you tell me what type of shutter release cable is suitable for eos m6?
I have 1 thing I can't figure out, no matter how many videos I watch: When I film video, and I bring something bright into the shot, like a piece of white paper, the camera automatically darkens the video. Which looks horrible afterwards. I want it to stop auto-adjusting to lightness when I'm shooting indoors. I've tried several settings, but it just won't stop doing it. (Canon EOS M6). Can you help me?
Thank you for this. Very helpful!! My M6 shuts off after 29:59 of recording. Is there an easy fix for this when I want to record past 30 minutes?
Hey, Frankie Grundler! No, not an easy one, or cheap one for that matter. The recording limits are set in stone, except if the magic lantern crew comes up with a release of it's software for the eos m6.
You can record to an external recorder I believe and bypass the recording limit. But they don+t come cheap. 250 and upwards for a decent one is good. And of course the it stops being a mobile device. Interesting problem though. Sorry I don't have abetter answer:)
Greetings!
Frankie Grundler I came here for the same problem. The interruption is pretty frustrating
Hey thanks for the tips. I find the audio from my Rode Video micro is
pretty low/soft on my EOS M6 when I replayed my videos in the camera
itself.
Greetings!
Right, let me try it out with the external mic recording and playing it on PC. I have it the highest on the click wheel. Thanks for the reply man!
No problem. You're welcome:)
Btw, do you know is it possible to have the camera flash switched off while recording a video? thanks.
Hey, Tai Chyuan Wong! It is a pop up flash, if it's not popped up it wont do anything. SO it shouldn't bother you at all when recording video......or did I misunderstand your question?
Greetings!

Something like this:
www.amazon.com/Concept-Variable-ND2-ND400-Adjustable-100-300mm/dp/B00JL4IN50/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1513373705&sr=8-3&keywords=variable+nd+filter
Hope that helps you out a little. Greetings!
TubeNoob, yes everything is in auto, thank you for your recommendations, I shall try some different settings too, see what I can figure out. Thank you. Greetings.
Thank you for this very helpful video, I recently got the M6 for vlogging and I'm still learning. Your videos are the best. :)
Love to hear that:) Glad it was of help to you!
Thanks a lot for your help!! Your suggestions are really great!
You are welcome!
Am considering buying this m6 for vlogging but how is the battery life for vlogging?
Hey, haitham baloch! You will need extra batteries. The original one usually gets me somewhere around 80 to 100 minutes of video, depending on the settings and how much standby time I accumulate between shots. Greetings!
Thank you.
You*Re welcome:)
Might also be that sony uses zeis glass....but let me know how it goes!
Greetings!
I found this video, and other ones you've done, very helpful...especially since I'm new to the video world. Thanks.
You*re very welcome, Terry! Thanks for the nice comment:)
Hi tubenoob..just got my m6 and this video helps me alot..thanks for sharing
Cool! Really like to hear that:)
great video!
Cool! Glad it works now:) Thanks a lot for the props! much appreciated:)
Thank you for such an informative video!!! I just picked up the M6 and info in your video will save me some time in setting up.
Hey, Christopher! Thanks for the nice comment! Much appreciated:) Greetings!
Wow!!! This is an incredible video. Great job, I really appreciate you making this. You move fast so I had to pause a lot :) I am a professional magician and want to make sure all your settings are the correct ones for me when I am filming street magic. I use an external mic. Thank you.
Thanks Matthew Furnam! Much appreciate the nice comment:)
Well, generally I would manually level an external mic to the distance needed, so the signal reaches -12dB.
Do a testrun:)
Hope that helps you out a little.
Ah, ok I see.
The settings depend on the situation. You*re not looking to vlog I guess, so what would you like to do exactly?
Maybe since my skin isn't pale, the way you recommended default set didn’t match with me. But nontheless great video! Found it very useful!
Greetings!
Hi TubeNookb! Can I ask where to change the iso number? I can't quite find it in the camera..
Can you please make a menu settings for vlogging on canon eos m50?
Should be fairly the same actually.....do you have lots of different menu items?
Could you drop me a quick pm on facebook, so I don't forget?: facebook.com/tubenoob/
Greetings!
TubeNoob great pls let me know. I put a video up of a comparison. Let me know if yours sounds like mine when talking about the m6 with the rode mic pro. If yours is better sounding...then my m6 might be not working properly.
Will do.
Does this work with the wide angle lens?
Yes. the 11-22.
what is the maximum length of video in 1080p can record the camera canon M6
with the maximum video quality without interruption
Hey there, it is 29m59s. Greetings!
does the Sony alpha 5100 shoot in 720p60
No, unfortunately this is all it does:
1920x1080 (60p/60i/30p/24p)
1440x1080 (30p)
640x480 (30p)
Greetings!
Excellent - just got my M6, so will be sure to test out these settings!! :D
Great, love to hear that:)!
Great content. Fast pace is awesome. Can rewind if necessary. Helping my buying decision... :)
Hey, Roger Underhill! Thanks very much for taking the time to write such a nice comment! Greetings!
Amazing video! Helped me so much! Thank you, my friend!
You*re very welcome, BackPackYourLife! Much appreciated:)
Great tips! Gonna go set up my m6 now!
Glad the video was of help to you! Thanks for the nice comment:) Greetings!
How long can we video record continue? Plz reply.
29:59s. Greetings!
@@Mark10ProVideo thanks. I need someone who record continuously. For videography. Compact camera.
Sony just launched a6400. It has unlimited capacity bt heat problem.
Lumix gh5 has auto focus problem.
You might need a camcorder if you truly want to have no recording limit...
@@Mark10ProVideo also I came to that conclusion. Bt it looks old. Whatever.
Then May be i will choose Panasonic v270 or canon vixia (which include external mic)
Btw thanks for replying/guidance/giving time from ur busy schedule. 😊👍
Every time I go take a picture it say busy then shows me the pictures it wasn’t doing that before how can I fix it
What mode are you in? Seems like something that might happen in iAuto...I haven*T experienced it myself, so if you can tell me as much as you can about the circumstances and settings you use, the more likely I can help you:)
TubeNoob Never mind I fixed it seem that my soon touch the touch bottom put it in another mood 🤦🏻♀️ but your video was helpful for a lot of other things thank you for even replying
Great video, got my new M6 setup almost identically now, it taught me so much about the menu and settings so quickly :)
Cool! Love to hear that:)
how can i correct my eos m6 to take quality image's, right now I'm taking images and it looks fake.
the amount of times i have watched this lol great video keep up the good work - Helped me out loads
Glad to hear that:) Greetings!
what aspect ratio should i use?
Hey, Ceh Yong! For video the default is 16by9, for photos 3by3 makes mot sense because you gather more data/resolution than with 16by9. And you can always crop from a 3by2 to a 16by9 later in photoshop. So I would go with 3by2. Hope that helps you out. Greetings!
One crucial question. How can I record on 60fps. I only see 50fps
Hey, ADHEX TV! You have to switch from PAL to NTSC. Yellow menu with wrench icon, 1st submenu, 4th entry, then you will have 30 and 60 fps. Greetings!
TubeNoob many thanks bro
You*Re welcome:)
So fast man! Not able to amateurs like me, hahaha. Thanks!

No Bro ! These Cameras 📷 don't have a pause button .
Oh! Sorry, didn't get that.....no, they don't, but when playing back a clip, you can tap the screen and it will stop playback right there and the menu will show up. Tap play and playback continues.
Thank you for your informative video. Very helpful :)
cheers mate, thanks so much
You're very welcome:)
Really good material...difficult to keep up :( sad for me
Sry:)
Thank you 😊
You're welcome 😊
Thanks. It helps a lot..
Cool:)
Brilliant thanks!!!
Thanks for the nice comment:)!
TubeNoob hi do you perhaps have the settings you use for the rode compact mic 🎤
TubeNoob sorry that’s rode videomicro settings I’m looking for
Oh with that one it's almost a plug and play deal.
TubeNoob brilliant thanks a lot for your help - the mic only arrives tomorrow but just wanted to be prepared lol 😂
Oh well glad I found this video. 😽
