    This dance and music is simply amazing...I have been listening to this music for many days and never got bored of it. Beautiful history and culture and an equally elegant dance style...Someday I'd want to visit the Angkor Vat.

    Sorry to say all of Thailand except for Siam was once Cambodia, we lost it in the 1900's. The only part of the land that we got back was all of Battambang in 1953. My great grandpa and grandfather was in that war. Thanks for sharing.

    My dance teacher was one of the survivors.. She said that she saw the other dancers getting killed.. And I'm Khmer although I don't speak it that well because I was born in america. Nice job on the dance though. These people did WAY better than I did. Flexibility counts the most. >_

    I'm not interested in arguing the way all these weird, negative people are arguing on here. This is an awesome Khmer dance and the accompanying music is beautiful. I love Hanuman!! He's such a cool hero in the mythology of both Southeast Asia and the Indian subcontinent. That's all that matters here. No need to post nasty, intentially inflammatory comments about Khmer vs. Thai or Indian vs. Khmer blah blah blah. Just enjoy the beauty of this video and be positive, and spread positivity=)

      What does he say to her? HOw does he get her to like him? This dance is exquisitely preposterous-- he's a monkey, and pretty rude in his manners but wonderful in his heart, and she sees that and accepts his eccentricities. So poetic and beautiful. I've heard that this is a classic dance-- is it truly hundreds of years old, the choreography?

If not, then take your ignorant comments somewhere else with other ignorant people who have no lives and indulge on blaming others because of history. Please understand us, a lot of Thai culture are thought to be other country's nowadays. We need to announce the correct information to the foreigners just before it's too late to protect them.

  • @usaguru1

    I know how it's written in Khmer but Reamke/reamker is Khmer version of Ramayana, Indian epic. We adopted Hindu religion from India and the story came with the religion but we did not adopt the caste system.
    Ramayana was part Khmer royal court epic and it was performed in the royal court since ancient time. You can also see the carving of the churning milk at Angkor Wat. It tells the tale of how the world was created according to Hindu.

    And for more information, If u have a chance to come here in Bangkok, u'll find a lot of Khmer baggers holding the baby and looking for mercifulness at the flyovers around the city. In addition, most of babies were kidnaped by Khmer gang from the country or boder provinces and come to Bangkok. We can't do anything because if we catch them and send them back to Cambodia, they'll pass the border and return to that career ..

    Excuse my ignorance, but is Khmer culture in any way related to Hindu culture? In Hinduism, Hanuman is a deity who belonged to monkey clan. He was also a big devotee of Lord Ram. Also I watched the other Khmer dance video and it said "Apsara" dance. In sanskrit, Apsara is the word for angel. Seeing so many similarities, I was just curious to know about the Khmer culture. Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks.

    modern cambodian is a mixer of pali, mon , and sanskrit.
    like ched deh or chedi. ched is mon for temple and i think deh is pali.some harder khmere words are entirely pali, like soumonnuh
    and tonmonnuh , meaning happy and sad, so gump2gump is correct.

    @5282A Not exctly, but the basic story and moral remains the same.
    Ramayan is diferent in different places, including in India itself.The differences are of small intricacies.Differences are like this sovan macha.Many indian versions talk of a monster which Shri Hanuman fought, while some do talk about a mermaid, but giving it less importance than khmer..

  • @D4Mathur
    @D4Mathur 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @5282A You see, the basic "Indian" culture is actually the north india, the ganges basin, which in turn influenced many areas like south east asia and others on the indian subcontinent.Brithish joined some of these indianized areas today called india, while the main gangetic culture had a huge change incorporating many things from islam and changing in a huge way, trying to fight Islam, like rigid purdah system in Rajasthan.
