    I'll be going back to flying Delta where I have lifetime Gold Status. I'm not going to play "center seat roulette" for what will only be a slight difference in price.

    I remember these Recaro R2 seats are sculpted to give you more knee room, that probably made Southwest think that they can decrease the legroom without decreasing the knee space

    Having been flying SW 2-4 times per year . Advantage. 1. Two free bags, 2. can easily change flights without any penalties. The money spent on the cancelled flight stays in your account at the full value for next purchase. 3. Get a boarding pass, then get on plane and take any seat. Much simpler way of loading plane. 4. The leg room was consistent throughout the cabin and was more than back of United Airlines planes. I am 5 foot 6 and the United regular seats were constraining for me.
    So advantages 3 and 4 are cancelled with new seating system and the extra leg room seats I am sure will add cost to the flight.

    So, the video creator is 5’9” tall. Reducing the seat pitch by 1 inch means that half of the people on the plane will now touch the seat in front of them with their knees. Also, the current headrest configuration is too short for anybody 6’ tall or greater to use, but who sleeps…? I certainly hope SWA has accounted for “North American tall“ passengers with how high the new headrests will raise. A bulge too low on my back would make the seat unusable.
    It’s not likely I’m going to buy premium to get my seat pitch back. I will more likely shop all the airlines for better flight time/duration instead since now since my knees will touch on all domestic flights.

    So sad that they’re decreasing the legroom for standard seats. I love southwest for their legroom so this was disappointing to hear about

      Agreed, 31" still better than UA or AA but nonetheless still a downgrade :/

      Although the seat pitch is decreasing by one inch on the -800/-8 it is actually decreasing to the current pitch of the -700. Right now the -800/-8 has a 32 inch pitch while the -700 has a 31 inch pitch. Even with the new seating configuration on the -700 the pitch will still be 31 inches. SWA has about half -800/-8s and half -700. So there is a 50% chance that the seat pitch is no different than what it would have been.

      Now JetBlue can finally reclaim their title of “most legroom in coach” even with their new smaller seat pitch lol. I do appreciate the upgrades of charging ports and device holders but I’d rather see them take out 1 row of seats (which is only around 4% of the airplane’s capacity) than do this. Overall I don’t like the direction that activist investors (notably Elliot) are pushing Southwest in. What will really send me over the edge through is elimination of free checked bags (if that does happen) but that will probably stay

    • @Dirtjim
      @Dirtjim 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@airbus7373 all of these changes were in motion far before Elliot showed up. They also said during the presentation yesterday that two free checked bags are a part of their DNA and will not go away.

We need any and all the support we can get, including not being accused of faking disabilities that the geveral public can't see, judge, or diagnose. I’m not a fan of how they explained picking seats, sounds like it’s 48 hours before your flight, which they pick for you???? Doesn’t seem like you’ll be able to pick. But if you want to pick you have to pay extra? But they included extra legroom in that…. My question is can I pick my row for standard legroom and not have to pay extra or am I forced to pay extra just to pick my row from normal seating. Like for years I have been picking row 23 on the 737-800 for SW, now if I go to book online I’m going to have to pay extra just to be able to pick…. Seems weird. Hopefully it’s only an up charge to pick extra room not standard room, it’s basically seems like JetBlues basic blue vs blue fare prices.

    • @Happinessisachoice2023
      @Happinessisachoice2023 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wanna Get Away fares will be in the back and they are the ones who will be assigned seats at the last minute. They are the cheap tickets and therefore in the last 7 or 9 rows. If a family wants to sit together, they will likely be spilt up 2 and 2 back there. The aisles, windows and front seats will be premium products!
