My dollies say "thanks"! Learning about face sculpts really helped me to focus more on unique characteristics and less on how trendy a doll is. I appreciate each doll a bit more since I started being more deliberate about whose face makes the cut.

I always enjoy these face sculpt videos so much. When you're talking about Selma (around the 6:00 mark) there a Barbie behind her wearing a silver sequined miniskirt, white tank top, and black hat. Could you tell me which doll that is? I have one that I bought online (just the head), so beautiful, think she's a Mbili but not sure which one specifically. I so want a Selma! Someday.
The doll you're asking about is Marisa from the so in style babyphat collection, she came with a jointed body but I switched her to mtm. I think those dolls are pretty pricey nowadays but you might find one on ebay for a tolerable price. Definitely an m'bili sculpt. I went into detail about her and the others from that line in my previous video about my oldest dolls. 😊

One of my friends just gifted the Bob Mackie Holiday Angel no 3 to me- she is stellar. I couldn’t believe she is a Heide sculpt but I love the sculpt more now even if I thought it was the Andra sculpt at first 😅
Tate head mold is used in Fashionista #162. He wears a two-piece purple top and shorts. He's medium-dark brown complexion and he has a black curly mohawk.
thanks for the comment, I own that ken doll and I see he looks very similar to tate, but 162 is a different face. when you look at them side by side, you will notice he has no dimples, his lips are wider and the base of his nose is larger. But he does have a similar head shape and chin, so i can see how the sculpts could be mistaken for one another at a glance. i can definitely do a side by side on video later so we can look more closely at that sculpt in comparison.
I used the Tate head sculpt for my Ooak x-men nightcrawler doll. I do think that sculpt works well for cartoony faceups, the lips are really big so I think larger eyes are needed to balance them out. I personally only like the BMR screening of the dolls mattel has released of this sculpt.

I am a "junior" doll collector (less than 50 dolls: a mix of Mattel and IT dolls), and one of the reasons why my collection is small is the fact that I do collect IT dolls and I purchase them from the secondary market, so they're a bit pricey. HOWEVER, due to watching your videos and seeing your lovely dolls, I am coming Back To Barbie - you are bringing me back to increasing my collection of Barbies. So I am now considering purchasing a 2007 Hard Rock Cafe Barbie. I think she's so cool looking with gorgeous hair. I believe that she has the Nichelle head sculpt. Are you familiar with this Barbie? If (more likely, when) I purchase her, I will want to rebody her to a M-T-M body so I'm wondering whose M-T-M body will match her skin tone. I enjoy all your videos, the subjects you choose and I love your taste; how you style your dolls. You are an inspiration to me - I'm so happy that you're streaming again.
@@claudiaguy2480 hey there! I don't think the size of our collections really matter when so much thought is put into each doll that ends up in it. I wish I had the discipline to keep my collection smaller when I first started collecting. 🤣 now I'm trying to limit myself. I have a handful of IT dolls and I love each one. Collecting IT definitely makes one consider more carefully who ends up in their collection. Hard rock Cafe nichelle was on my grail list at one point, until I got LUCIANA with the same face sculpt, different skin tone. Both are gorgeous. Gotta do some digging around to figure out which mtm match hard rock matches, but she seems to be in the range of mtm complexions that are available. If you have Instagram, there's probably someone there who owns that doll and can tell you the exact match, sometimes it's hard to tell from photos... or perhaps someone has a review of her on TH-cam and that could help narrow it down. Come back and update us if you end up getting Nichelle! She's gorgeous.

I followed your advice and went on Instagram and unfortunately the pictures I saw of her,…she was so gorgeous, I lost control and I made an offer for her on eBay ($130) and they accepted and now I’m feeling guilty about spending money on myself at Christmas time. I also found out on Instagram what IT body she’ll match, Latino, which is now Sunkissed, and it’s on eBay for $79. So I guess that Barbie heads can go on IT bodies? I’m going to try that out today. I use the heating pad method to remove their heads. I put a lightweight sock over the dolls head and fold the heating pad over the doll for 15 minutes or less until the head is soft. I’m going to turn this into a positive situation: I will inform my husband that he doesn’t have to shop for me…..I’m very excited about the gifts he got for me, I’ll even wrap them and put them under the tree! Gypsie, thank you so much for all your help. I have found that the doll collecting community is very supportive and encouraging, and share lots of “how to do it” and you are the Queen of doll collectors!
Wow, you found one just in time to gift her to yourself! She will be a treasure in your collection for sure. It's so satisfying when we find those special faces we pine over and they're looking at us on the shelf. it's so magical. I did the same a while back, splurged on the 2021 convention power pair couple because i really wanted a MARISA sculpt and those are generally pricey anyway. but this time i think i spent like $250 including shipping from ebay. My husband talks me out of my guilt trips when I start chastising myself but anyway, those dolls are super special to me and I love seeing them on my display. IT bodies should work just fine with barbie heads, they are interchangeable. The only thing is if you wanna put an IT head on a barbie body, they're heads are harder so they absolutely need to be heated. but barbie's usually don't need to be heated to be placed onto the IT bodies. So excited for you!

I too feel guilty whenever I buy a doll, though I'm 71 years old and I'm still working full time and I'm also collecting my full social security benefit, so my husband doesn't have the nerve to complain. My Nichelle should be arriving tomorrow, but I've learned that I cannot rely on USPS. Question: How do you "fluff up" the tight, curly hair? Do I place her hair in a pony tail and then into a bowl of warm water that has a bit of fabric softener in it? I don't want to comb out the curls, just reshape how they lay around her face. She's been in a box since 2007 🤯 so she'll definitely have "box hair." Thank you, Gypsy

I don’t know if my comment got through - my iPad kept telling me there was an error and ‘tap to retry’… anyway I was saying that I didn’t like the recent Ken hairstyles. Mattel have never really got Ken’s hair right, if you ask me, but the current batch of half-shaved / half-floppy … well I’ve not seen any man (or pictures of men) with that hair style. I sort of think some of the buzz cut flocked styles are ok over the whole head and I do like the locks on Looks #4 - he’s superb! I just ordered Looks #21 from AmazonUK - I didn’t realise she was a Heidi sculpt (I like your view that red-head Heidi is only “popular” because she’s a famous model - I think that says so much about so-called celebrities!)
Half floppy! 😂😂😂 that is too funny! I don't know why we can't just get some average normal masculine styles for the ken dolls. Mattel has an aversion to common masculine looks or something, I guess 🤣 they always dress ken in the loudest outfits. 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
My Looks #21 arrived today - she is beautiful. I think the Heide face sculpt looks so much better with the AA skin tone 2:45 than the very pale #11. I just need Mattel to make a very dark standard M2M (or Deluxe Style) to match the Rainbow Fashionista #90 - I think she’s a similar colour to Looks #10 (which has a tall body)
I like the fryda and have used it for a couple of my friend’s sisters. I named my Heide Mary because she make me think of Mary Kate of the Olsen twins I kind of found the Brandon sculpt boring
Face sculpts and screenings are everything. I will pass if the doll does not connect. I did not like Tate except for the muscular one. He has a cat tattoo and is nick-named “Pussycat” at the gymn. My tattoo for him is not very professional.

rainbow fashionistas june sculpt doll? she is the same as the tall simone barbie looks model. she will match perfectly. i used that body for mine too.
