Great video! You mention your eBay addiction; I just got back from 3 weeks in Japan today (ostensibly visiting my sister) and also used the opportunity to go hog wild on Yahoo! Auctions through Buyee, a proxy service. The yen being in the toilet + most Japanese people's preference for new and/or pristine gear means there are some bargains out there, not to mention some of the weird JDM stuff not really sold overseas. I would definitely love to see you make some irresponsible financial decisions on kooky Japanese cameras, drop me a line if you'd like some suggestions.

Thanks for the channel. I really enjoy your dry humor and photographic skill, not to mention the gear tips and the fact that it is somebody else going into all these abandoned buildings, risking, life, limb and exotic infectious diseases instead of me, while I get to enjoy the type of photography, which I only aspire to have achieved, albeit vicariously. It is my dream, one day, to photograph a bunch of abandoned industrial sites, especially old defunct nuclear power plants. I just hope that I can only do it as well as you... and live to document it. I just worry about the grain, of all people you are probably the only one, who will truly understand that, and how it will come out.... judging from the old pictures from the Chernobyl Electro plant, it is not good. Maybe it is just because it was shot on an old and tired Zorky with the Industar 35mm lens with slow slow speeds... Hopefully, that is the only reason. Maybe you would consider shooting abandoned industrial sites yourself... so that I don't have to. Sorry, I just strayed from what I really wanted to say...
You did a multipart special on other people gear collections, I wish I knew you then. I missed the opportunity to send you several gigs worth of pictures of my collection... and that is only a small part of what I own, just the stuff that I keep at home for projects and tinkering with. I am too lazy to go down to my storage, dig into the boxes and destroy the years of hard work of packing and organizing all of my gear to make it fit into a storage unit, which is supposed to contain all of the s-h-taff that you can cram into a one bedroom apartment. I think I would definitely score some points with my Rollei 35 s, Rolleiflex T, full collections of Minoltas, Niconos IV and V, Canon rangefinders, Nikon Fs, Hasselblads, Contax and Agfa folders, various obscure collection of East German cameras, like Pentakon 6, Exacta, Praktica, Praktina and many more. It is the result of about 30 or so years of obsessive hoarding, I mean collecting. Don't judge me to harshly, but you would be truly disgusted with my Holga collection. The only Holga missing from it is the 120 3D camera... and some stereo film slide holders. I almost got one recently, but somebody outbid me on eBay for $388.0 US. Can you imagine somebody, other than me, would actually do that - try to make 3D slides with 50 or 100 ISO reversal film on a Holga... and wanted it so bad as to spend that kind of money to get it. I could not sleep for 3 days and there was no "Mountain Dew Flamin Hot" to quell that fire. Speaking of "Flamin Hot", I know, it is a year later, and watching you chugging a bottle of that concoction on the small screen of my computer is surreal... given the fact that both "Flamin Hot" and the Aerochrome are both now discontinued. I think it is a conspiracy... I think it was cheaper for Kodak to pay off Mountain Dew (Pepsico) or maybe even grant them some "special" favors.. than bring back the film. I think they got really worried... You drinking that stuff every day, like you did, could have forced them to actually bring it back... or maybe Monica got in touch with Pepsico and blackmailed them somehow, just to make sure you don't ruin your health.... I don't know... but I do care... about the film.
At any rate, thanks again for refueling my passion in photography and my hoarding obsession with camera gear. It is because of you, I found out about Agfa 1535 and summarily got outbid.. again... and again... and again. Those things are ridiculously expensive for what they are... aren't they.
Anyway, it has been nice chatting with you. even though you did not say anything of value, actually you did not say anything, not yet.
Good luck with the future endeavors, keep producing great content, make sure you have all the vaccinations.
I am looking forward to many new videos and grainydays!!!

I see a clear advantage in using a longer Rodagon with bigger image circle and move the camera/sensor around instead of the negative.
If there were some issues with falloff or any other sort, it will be consistend and you can stitch as big as your image circle goes.
There are some kind of "Graflex 4x5" -> Nikon F Adapters, but you will need something like that for X and Y axis if you want to go big. For Pan-F the X-only should be a really good choice.
If you have a good/parallel working X/Y Axis moving sensor build, you can even increase the optical enlargement so make a stitch of an 35mm. Just enlarge the negative to 2x the diameter und make 4 images from it with the sensor. Until the grain shows ;-)

How do you make sure the negative fills the frame and is in focus at the same time? How is the focusing working with the Leica R Lense stopped down? Is the lens "closing" mechanism a the same spot? Fokusing lenses with a focusing-prism without a mechanism leaving the lens open until the shutter can be quite painful or even nearly impossible. I was actually thinking a lot about adapting R lenses to an F3. But this kept me from trying it... Absolutely love your videos btw. Became an essential part of my weekend routine. ;)

I really love the 17-35mm f/2.8D lens. I have one that I've used on my D700 and on my FE2. The only negative thing I can say about it is that the manual focus throw on this lens, being designed for AF, is not nearly as sweet feeling as a dedicated manual focus lens. Small price to pay for the image quality of the lens though! Another really interesting option for your mid-range zoom would have been the Tamron Adaptall-2 SP 35-80mm f/2.8-3.8. This is one of the best compact, mid-range zooms of its type and you could get it for under $100 with the Nikon F adaptall mount. If you won't use the 80-200mm f/2.8D lens very often, there are a couple smaller, lighter, cheaper options you could consider, such as the Nikon Series E 70-210mm f/4 which is a very sharp and easy to handle lens. There is also the Vivitar Series 1 70-210mm f/3.5, which did come in Nikon F-mount. You could find either of these lenses for under $100. And why bother spending $200-300 on a lens you won't use, when you can spend less than half that much for a lens that is still very sharp, but smaller, lighter, and easier to carry. But, then again, you seem to only want the best stuff, regardless of price, so I'm not expecting you to seriously consider my lens recommendations.

The original Leica R *cameras* were part of the Minolta partnership, but the R lenses were all Leica's doing. Some of the R lenses were made in Canada (and there's one version of the 35-70 - not yours - which was made by *gasp* Sigma), which is a thing that turns off a lot of Leica cork-sniffers. They're fuggin great, though. And getting stupid expensive.

I enjoy the irony of panoramic shots via a square aspect video

Those TX-1 shots cured my own ED. Thanks, Jason. Can't wait to tell my wife.

Ugh those TX1 photos are stupidly fire. I did not need to see that.

White footwear on a muddy trail. Brave choice young man.
Reminds me of the lad who stormed Omaha Beach wearing a just a Speedo and carrying a slingshot. ;-)

Single handedly got me to lay down copious amounts of money on a T2 and 3 gallon bags full of film. My depression fades away with every roll I burn through. Today is day 40 and I'm 12 rolls in.

DIY on a Leica lens....... I admire your balls..... (as in bravery). The thought of Aerochrome on 4x5 is a moistening one.

Is it difficult to focus the adapted Leica lens at smaller apertures? The viewfinder on my F2 is already getting dark at f/4

I got a Nikon F2 black body and it got the 2 parts motor drives the MD-1 and the MF-1 and the Nikon DS-1 and I need to get the camera repaired and get a meter head for it and I only paid £10.00 for all of them from a camera shop in London in 2023
