It's so funny to me when people say "melt the coconut oil" because here in Thailand, where I live, it almost never gets cold enough for coconut oil to be hard. I always forget that coconut oil even hardens at all!

Do not heat the organic oils. Heat removes the therapeutic ingredients. instead use a pan on of hot water and place the bowl or container of coconut oil on top to melt it. thanks for sharing.

Coconut oil becomes liquid at 76° F so...very little heat necessary. I, personally, would not use ANY heat.
Nor would I use the CO on the face. Oi.

U can add anything to a base oil.
      Green tea
      Black tea
      Tumeric
      Charcoal
      Ginger
      Garlic
      Basil
      Mint
Literally find anything that has benefits can be added infused into a base oil.
If you don't want to see solids ( finely minced ginger) in your oil...follow steps below to remove.
Step1: heat ginger (or whatever) in water for the hour as they say. Essential oils will be extracted.
Step2 : Boil water further till it's evaporates mostly leaving a concentrated minimum then remove the solids by straining ( minced ginger ). You have concentrated essential oil...which u can use drop by drop.
Step3 : add concentrated essential oil to the base oil product and allow to cool.
      Water will mostly separate.
But mostly the essential oils will remain in the base coconut oil to apply to skin.
It's that easy to create essential oils and/or moisturizer with oil.

I love this, I would totally add rose petals during the heating process, and maybe some lavender oil before whipping it. I really enjoy these simple but unique recipes because we can customize it according to our needs and wants. I know some people react badly to coconut oil, but it's really good for me (I have dry skin) - and coconut oil doesn't have to be expensive. An added benefit is that coconut actually has an spf of around 4-6, which is not enough if you're going to be in a lot of sun, but it's better than nothing on a cloudy day. You can get the scented or unscented kind if you hate the smell of coconuts, or want to customize the scent.

FYI COCONUT OIL DOES NOT CLOG PORES!!!!! I have been using coconut oil as my carrier oil in all my diy recipes for a few years now & I have oily skin, and it does not make my skin oily! I primarily use it as a makeup remover because it takes off EVERYTHING, including waterproof mascara, without leaving any kind of residue behind. Another plus, it doubles as an exfoliator. I rub it into my skin and all over my eyes (it will not aggravate your delicate eye area) and use either a towlette or cotton round to wipe my make up off. I immediately follow with my moisturizer ( I do not cleanse my face because the coconut oil works as a natural exfoliator) and it has not cause me to get clogged pores or to break out! Also, I use a coconut oil & green tea eye cream at night & during the day, and guess what? It doesn't clog my pores or make my skin look oily! The trick is you need very little (less is more, a little goes a very long way). Also, I add Vitamin E oil as a preservative so that it has a longer shelf life, and I add Lavender Essential Oil because it gives it a great smell and Lavender is great for mature/oily skin! Green Tea is great for under eye dark circles! I strongly suggest that you try this. Also, do more research than just watching one video. I'm sorry, but I think that these ladies needed to do their homework before assuming that just because coconut oil is an oil that it would make your skin oily or clog pores. I'm not promising anything, I'm just speaking from my own personal experience, & I've been using coconut oil on my face (along with other oils) for a few years now and my skin has never looked better. Hope that this info helps some of you ladies!

Just cause it didn't clog your pores doesn't mean it won't clog someone else's, different oils work for different people and coconut does not clog every bodies pores but it is about a 4 out of 5 in clogging them u should mainly worry about it clogging your pores if you are acne prone.

No. I put coconut oil on my hair before I wash it, I wouldn't smear thick oil on my face. This is a very, very bad idea.
Use it on your lips or hands, but not on your face, unless you want clogged pores.
Also, do not "simmer". If you cook it, all the good bits, vitamins and whatnot are lost. So basically what these people did here was tell you to kill all the goods in the oil and then slather your face with it. Yikes.
(On the bright side, at least they didn't suggest you use paraffin or vaseline. Because that's even worse.)

Okay let me say this. Coconut oil dose not clog pores. Now that dose not mean you won't break out while using it. When I first started using it I broke out with in the first few days. The reason is because just like any other products you use for acne they first brings out impurities which means breaks outs. But after using it for at least 2 weeks you should see better results. It worked for me and my friend.

+Theresa Mazur - YES COCONUT OIL DOES CLOG PORES AND CAUSE ACNE!!! I used to use it undiluted after my TCA and glycolic peels, but because it gave me deep cystic acne I had to mix it with cetaphil cream and neosporin instead which works fine. If you have serious acne and skin inflammation issues, tread carefully with all oils despite what Theresa says. Theresa you are not a doctor and recommending this to everyone without warning is rude :/

    • @emilyb8982
      @emilyb8982 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

how much of the coconut oli did you use? I used to have very problematic skin and acne scars, but every since I started using coconut oil my skin has been cleared up and remained cleared up. I just use a very very small amount and lighty rub it over my skin and then I rinse it off with warm water, tone and moisturize my skin. Everyone's skin is different the things I do might not work on everybody, it's just kind of rule of thumb. Just keep that in mind.

    • @fuzzynubbins
      @fuzzynubbins 8 ปีที่แล้ว

How much? It's oil, you can't layer oil, I used a small amount enough to cover my face and I kept it on because that's what you do after a peel. If I would have washed it off right away like you state you did, it would be a non-issue. We are not talking about people that wash it off, we are talking about people that leave it on.

for a minty smell I added mint leaves from my house into the pot while it was simmering because I didn't have mint extract.

Can you whip this solution just by shaking it in a container ?

lucia nguyen not really because as it cools it hardens. Best option to expedite cooling put in frig or freezer for a few minutes. Then whip with fork, small whisk or a mini (froth) hand blender/whisk. If u have Essential oils tea tree oil, frankincense, vitamin E are good to add helps with acne, anti aging. 4-5 drops. 1/2 tsp of vit E helps skin and preserve cream. Add raw shea butter or raw coconut butter (avail in health food stores or some beauty isles-ask first) to create a body butter that melts with your own body temp. 1/2 to equal amounts of the butters to the coconut oil should be good. Store in cool place 70• plus degrees will melt it due to the butters. ;)

No way, tea tree is essential oil not carrier oil, it will be too concentrated for skin

Correct!! Tea Tree would also require dilution. www.wisegeek.com/how-do-i-dilute-tea-tree-oil.htm
