  • Hey peoples, 360 surprised all of us with this interesting safety upgrade. They never said anything to anyone. They just listened to their audience based off previous and now current talk about this upgrade and made it happen. This isn't a sponsored video so no affiliate links here but I think you X3 guys will appreciate this very much. O.....and you're welcome!

    the only video i could find about removable lens guards. Thank you.

      You are welcome. Also, keep in mind you can use the camera with them on around water, but as soon as they submerge in water, the water will get inside the lens guard. I just recorded a video showing how well/not so well they keep water out.

    Bro, this video is straight up to the point without the b.s. lol
    Im convinced to get this now.
    My biggest issue with the sticky guards is they are permanent-ish which means if you're using the camera in a hot or cold environment, the camera lens will fog up inside and ruin your footage and there is nothing u can do to clean until it cools down.
    It's because the lens can't breathe between the guards!
    My question is, have you had any fogging issues with these removable guards?
    P.s. No one is able to answer this for me. Thanks anyway. Great Video

      First off...you are very welcome!
      Second, these removable sticky lens WILL fog up when used in a humid environment.
      But....this is why the regular/original STICKY lens covers are still around. Those lens covers form a tight seal that prevents humidity/water from entering the gap between the lens guard and the actual lens.
      So if you live or will be operating your x3 near water, I would just use the r
      Original sticky lens guards instead of these removable ones. The good thing is the original sticky lens guards comes with two extra sticky adhesive rings so you could reapply the lens guards in the even you ever needed to take them off.

      Thank you. Thank you so much! I truly appreciate it!
      I could tell you right now that 1
      One RS 1" is a force to be wreckeon with. Almost Everytime I record with it at night I am surprised how beautiful of a picture it puts out. The x4 is sorta making me see how much better it is then the X3 when it comes to a few things.
      I need insta 360 to throw a Gen 2 A5 chip in the one RS 1" with a more practical design (more water and dust resistant) and they'll have a camera that would dominate the next 6-8yrs in this 360 cam world.

      @@Jonasegway How was the new removable lens guard for the X3? It is really worth it though?

    • @Jonasegway
      @Jonasegway  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @gabseph well. It's still $20. It seems to be glass which is a little more durable then plastic. However....when removing the day old sticky lens guards in the video, you didn't see the part where I broke the sticky lens guard and it shattered like glass.
      So quality wise I would say the old (stick on lens guard is the same as this new design. Obviously I like the new screw on and off design because if you break them, you. Can just unscrew them. Also. I forgot to mention this in my video but you can also leave the screw on mechanism of the new guard on the camera if you want to record without the lens and then screw the lens guards back on for protection of you need to.
      I would definitely say it's worth it. But that's is because of how I use mine. If you don't use your camera for any action stuff that is high risk to damage then I wouldn't be too hard up on getting these.

    Can we go underwater with only the sticky structure ( with no removable lens guards ) ?
    Is the adhesive enough resistant to go underwater ?

    • @Jonasegway
      @Jonasegway  20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The adhesive is definitely strong enough to withstand being used underwater.
      Something I would take note of: if you are swimming underwater with the sticky adhesive part still attached to the camera and the hand that you use to swim is the hands you have the camera in, I can see the pressure from the water of you swimming could slowly weaken that adhesiveness of the sticky lens base.
      That these lens guards are not for underwater use. I could see the salt in the water weakening the compound that the sticky lens base is made of overtime. So unless you are using it in freshwater, I would do dare say to probably invest in an underwater case if you think you might be using it underwater. But you can use it if you are in a pinch like let's just say you are on a road trip and you want to get in a pool. It can take being inside of a pool and swimming around but I would wash it with distilled water for the purest water you can find immediately to get any harsh minerals off of the camera and a sticky lens guard's base

      Man this is the part i love about making these videos. Giving you guys feedback and answering questions.
      I leaned the hard way myself with my 1". When lens is busted up. So I always try to remind people to use lens guards when they are doing action stuff. It's an avoidable risk.

    How rain proof are the new lens guards? I'm hoping to use them on my motorbike

    • @Jonasegway
      @Jonasegway  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well.... I'll tell you what. I was waiting to upload the waterproof test, but I'll give you a snippet.
      The original sticky lens are much more waterproof. That's when it comes to just being submerged in water and pressurized water (to simulate riding in a rain storm). The sticky adhesive is the same with both lens covers, however the original sticky lens covers form a better seal between the actual lens and the body of the camera vs these new lens covers have gaps where you twist the lens guard into place. (Hopefully they makes sense and answered your question).
      If it rains a lot or you plan on using it in wet conditions often, I would tell you to use the original sticky lens. They are made of glass and have a much better water resistant design.

    Need to know if they are compatible with X2 (I know insta360 says they don't, but why should we trust them?)

    • @Jonasegway
      @Jonasegway  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ahhhhhh that's a very good question. I wouldn't know but I tell you what. Have you ever seen insta360 make hardware that worked with multiple cameras?.
      They even make the cheap microphone adapters exclusive to each camera.
      So it wouldn't be about trusting them. I just don't recall anything made for one camera working with a different model camera

      @Jonasegway  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sorry it took a while to respond. I was looking this up online trying to see if I could find this answer and here is what I got (let me know if this works for you).
      - Connect your camera to your phone via wifi/quick reader with the memory card that has the footage in it
      - perform your edits on the clip
      - to the right of the word EXPORT there should be three dots on top of each other. Press that once.
      - you should now see three categories: BASIC, ACCESSORIES and EDIT DATA
      - press BASIC
      - scroll down and turn on CHROMATIC CALIBRATION
      That should fix your stitch line issue. Also while you are in this menu area, feel free to press/turn anything else on that may be relative to what you are looking to do with that clip.
      Do this with every clip to make sure you rectify the stitch line issue. I hope this helps!

      @@JustAsaph my pleasure. Next time try to keep subjects in your videos as far away from the lenses as possible to reduce the stitch line effect (think....bullet time feature....where the camera is on a basic selfie stick and the stick is fully extended! Think of all of insta360's advertisement pictures/video examples where the cameras are almost always on a selfie stick and the selfie sticks are pretty much h always extended. This is them sorta telling you the best results in general are with the cameras extended as far away from any subjects as possible
