I find antique and private owned thrift shops much more relaxing...not so many folks grabbing, pushing and just getting in your space trying to get the best deals. It's much more organized and folks seem to have more etiquette. You can get great deals at these kind of establishments!❤ I would love the old recipe cooking...I love those kind of cookbooks!!!!

Yes to the recipes. Always looking for new recipes to try and it's just me and my hubby. He likes to take leftovers in his lunch so I would love to see you make the dishes and rate them by taste, easiness and would you put them on the rotation. I would put a birds nest in the ladle for the Spring/Summer.

I would love to see you do a series where you try recipes from vintage recipe books! I have a small collection of old recipe books from here in Nova Scotia and they really show how much influence the different cultures had on our cuisine. Different areas of the province were more settled by Germans, Dutch, French, Scottish, Irish, etc. and the recipes reflect that heritage.

@@garnetdudding936 Hi Garnet..Do you go to estate sales. We have three or four most weeks..Thursday thru Saturday. Saturday is our day because it is fifty percent off. We find less expensive things than our yard sales. Yard sales and Goodwill have gotten crazy expensive here. Yes, I am a mix of every style but ninety percent..even furniture is from estate sales. I would not begin to know how to sale anything or price things. I have a friend who could sell a paper bag and make money.not me. I had one yard sale in my life and too much work for so little money. Have a great Sunday. 💕

I just watched you video where you purchased Carson some shoes. Lol like moccasins and a cute pair of denim looking slip-ons.
I only found you site last week but have almost anandoned all of other thrifters for your sites. Those precious grandchildren make my heart sing. You and your family are awesomely beautiful.
I am 77 years old and you and your family and you awesome thrifting makes my day. I love the way you pick for yourself and your family and for those, whom I can see you really love!
I can hardly thrift like I have in the past, but through you I get to do some of that again.
You ideas of decor in your home and sharing with us, is such a wonderful way for us old thrifters to get to follow with you!
Thank you from my heart for making my days so wonderful!
God sends wonderful woman like you as a special gift!
I truly do love you and the family!

I said when you were in the thrift store looking at the ladle that I hope you pick it up and put Easter grass and eggs or chicks in the bowl of it for Easter and during the ordinary time find an old birds nest to sit in it and doll it up with some birds eggs or a little birdie to adorn it. I have ideas galore watching you thrift things so thanks for taking us along on your adventures in thrifting!!!:):):)

Those beautiful plates you purchased were discontinued in 1940. It is the Hazel pattern manufactured by the Scio company in Ohio. Those plates could possibly be hundred years old I ate off of the same pattern of places a child in the 1950s when I lived with my parents in the housing projects in downtown Birmingham Alabama. Whenever we ate from those plates always felt like I was the richest little girl anywhere. Keys make great windchimes!---I lived in a small town called Napoleon in ND, & we had a bookmobile come occasionally, don't remember how often, I was 7-8-9 years old at the time!---Certain flatware pieces also make great windchimes...I call it angel music! Gotta tap a piece on a hard surface & listen for a tuning fork sound.

Hi Julie. I can totally relate to the slower pase when antique shopping. I am "doing my favorite thing" when I go antiquing. If you go enough to the same place you can get a feel of your favorite booths and how often they have sales. Sometimes even meet the vendors when they are restocking or working as a monitor. Yes, they do work to watch shoppers, even ask if they can carry your selected items to the check out to hold for you. I'm not sure if they get a percentage off their rent if they volunteer to monitor the store, I just know they do it. Makes sense, who else would be more attentive to watching the customers than those who have booths there. I am so tickled that you got some unique finds and was able to slow down and look. I have a little leather coin purse that was my great grandaddy's and also a pair of his round specks (glasses). I inherited these pieces. I did buy a snuff jar at an antique store cause he dipped snuff. I really like the picture too of the lady in the apron. So sweet and tells a story of its own. Oh, before I forget I have a quite a few of the shutter's and have a vintage swinging doors, I call them saloon doors. I just really like things like that. You got some great finds. I hope you have a good weekend now that Texas is finally thawing out from that ice storm. A Nana in Texas. ☺️

I also have her old ladle but have it stored. Guess I’ll look for that and put that out. The plate pattern with the flowers is the pattern of my great aunt. That beautiful postcard depicts a Breton woman from Morbihan, Brittany, France. She’s probably wearing the traditional folk garb of the area. I couldn’t see the rest of the caption or if there’s a date given, but it is most likely pre-WWII. I think the postcard with the coin purse leaning against it with an ironstone pitcher and some greenery would look nice; maybe find it a nice frame. She’s very “spring-y” to me, lol. I have a small collection of vintage coin purses and I use a straight pin to hang them in a display. The needle fits perfectly in between the clasp. I hang quite a bit of my items with a straight pin because I am forever changing my decor and the needles are almost invisible when you take them out of the wall. Put little dry flowers in the coin purse would look cute and maybe frame the postcard. Good finds

Hey Julie, my Aunt had that exact set of dishes, when I was growing up we ate off of them everyday, people say don't eat off of painted dishes, well I'm 69 and doing fine 😀 Love all the great things you found!!!

The rusty crusty stuff is my favorite! I love thinking about who had it before me and how they used it. My daughter hates them, she says it makes her want to wash her hands. Lol! I just can’t get enough!

I think at Goodwill and yard sales we rush because we are aware someone else may grab a bargain before we do. Antique malls are more expensive and less busy.

You should put a birds nest with eggs in the ladle.

I saw you looking at the thumbtacks box and the ladle. I knew you wouldn't get them but didn't know they were 75% off! For the change purse, a hankerchief, a dolly or some dried flowers would be cute also. I like caps on you. On you they are cute but not so much on me.

As you can imagine, we have A LOT of antique malls, flea markets, etc in Virginia and I love to walk through and admire all of the items but as a rule, I don’t much shop at those because of the prices. Besides, it’s so much fun to “pick” for a deal!
Every so many years, our church publishes a cookbook from the members and I thoroughly enjoy finding those!
    They have the best recipes!
I LOVE that change purse and I love your idea!
I’m always copying you Julie! You are a true inspiration!

Oh my goodness, I love the old purse, the photo, and the cook books. Just imagine how many hard working men pasted, who may have drank water out of that ladle. Love the romance in these pieces. Plus I would love to see you cook some of those old recipes. You go girl. ❤
