      Hello Angelika!
Thank you for your kind words. We're glad you enjoyed the video and the jams. Your sourdough mixture is perfect!! My sourdough loves the whole wheat and added in rye flour. This will be fun to see how they all work out. I love a clean and tidy home. It takes a lot of work, but it is so lovely to have a clean space to live and work in. Planting tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and parsley sounds like a wonderful way to spend time in the garden. I'm so happy to hear your strawberries are doing great as well in your email. I will respond back this weekend to your email. It has been a little busy around here. So sorry about not answering back yet.
We did manage to do some gardening despite the stormy weather. We have more to do this weekend, too. I wish you a lovely weekend and the week ahead.
      Kindest Regards,
      Emily and Ruby Ann

I’ve always wanted to make jam, and i never considered using frozen berries. I might need to try that! Jam is becoming more and more expensive. My husband’s aunt told me years ago that she worked in a big jam factory. She said that the strawberries were white, then they added food colouring!!! 😖
I never forgot that, and has always made me suspicious of jams at the store. I’ve noticed that the cheaper jams at Walmart pretty much just say berry flavoured. Which means they probably aren’t even using real fruit. Definitely something to think about. Homemade is always so much better!
    ❤Have a beautiful day!

Yes, you're correct they add flavoring and food dye:(. That's why we can make our jams. Quality control ;). Once you can your own, you will never look back. It's so easy to do!! We love using frozen fruit for many reasons, but we also love using fresh fruit in season(we used fresh blackberries in this video). We have wanted to can cherry jam for a long time, and it's not in season presently here. Plus, you must pit the fresh ones; frozen is more economical. Just make sure you get high-quality frozen fruit. We use Azure Standard frozen fruit. This company has never let us down.
      Have a wonderful weekend!
      Kindest Regards,
      Emily and Ruby Ann

@@themoderndaycottage That’s great! We don’t have Asure Standard up here in Canada, unfortunately, but I can buy locally grown blueberries all winter (frozen), because there is a large farm nearby. I will have my own strawberries soon, but not sure I’ll have enough for eating and canning!! 😅

@13:00 is there a reason why u canned the jars u will use instead of just storing them in the fridge or on the ouster top until u use them to fill the pop tart ¿ looks like a waste of life but maybe I’m missing something. Thanks for sharing loved ur videos a new subscriber here ❤

We are delighted that you have subscribed and are excited to welcome you to our cottage community. The jam jars we used for the pop tarts were not water-bath canned. In the video, I mentioned that these jars were from our canning process earlier on the same day and had already been set up. So sorry I didn't disclose that. I agree it would have been a waste of time to water-bath them; we placed them directly into the refrigerator after using them for the pop-tarts.
      Kindest Regards,
      Emily and Ruby Ann
