My guess? No. My nephews dad did this to him after my sister passed away. As soon as he turned 18 he was a burnt out baseball pitcher who could’ve at least gone to minors but bc he was never a kid, left home asap bought a motorcycle & he’s now in prison for a DUI bc he had FOMO. Unfortunately, he only hurt himself and luckily not someone else.
He wasn’t allowed to be a kid. Dad and grandparents doted on him when it came to the sports - tons of love but he wanted to quit for a little bit in HS and his dad wouldn’t let him, literally forced him. Made him play year round. My sister never would have gone for that. Sad, sad story parents who do this.

Anyone who played football knows that the best players in little league or grade school were rarely, almost never, the best players in high school or college, and many of the best college players never made it in the NFL. Boys & young men seem to “peak” at different stages/ages. There’s a thousand intangibles that come into play- mentality/smarts, love of the game, a warrior’s heart & mentality, desire to succeed. This poor kid, I fear, is being set up to be the next Todd Marinivitch….😞🙏

I got recruited to play soccer in England and moved their at the age of 14. I was a goalkeeper and in 7th grade I hit 5'10. The doctors said I was gonna be 6'2-6'4. I ended up breaking my hip right Before my 17th bday, and then another 2 times after that in the next 2 years. I also haven't grown since 7th grade and am still 5'10. Even without getting injured I would of never lived up to the "hype" as I just didn't have it. No matter how good s kid naturally looks, as soon as they are teenager's the decisions they make dictate whether they make it or not. The more they hype this kid the better Chance he will fail unfortunately. There's no issue telling him he's talented, but never tell him that he's not the best. That's something he needs to only hear from himself, never from his coaches or especially his parents.

Put a good defensive back on him and he would get smoked. Not to mention put him under pressure in a legit game against people his size and then see how he does.

Alot of people here are mentioning Baby Gronk's height could be impacted as he grows older.
Sure, he is doing things a bit differently. But, only time will tell how his training & body evolves combined with his genetics, sleep, rest, & nutrition during this process.
    Here's what the research says:
// Safe Training For Kids //
There is a common myth that weightlifting and other forms of intense exercise can stunt the growth of children and teenagers. However, research suggests that this is not entirely accurate.
Weightlifting and athletic training, when performed under proper supervision and with appropriate techniques, can be safe and beneficial for children and teenagers.
In fact, regular exercise during childhood and adolescence has been shown to promote healthy growth and development, improve bone density, enhance coordination, and support overall physical fitness.
It is important to note that young individuals should engage in age-appropriate activities and follow guidelines established by experts in pediatric exercise science.
    Here are some general recommendations:
    Before the age of 7:
Children can participate in a variety of physical activities, including unstructured play, swimming, running, jumping, and basic sports skills. They can begin building a foundation of physical literacy through enjoyable and varied movements.
    Ages 7 to 12:
Children can start to engage in more structured activities and organized sports. Strength training can be introduced using bodyweight exercises, resistance bands, or light weights under proper supervision, focusing on technique, coordination, and proper form.
    Ages 13 to 15:
Adolescents can gradually progress to more structured strength training programs using weights. Emphasis should still be placed on proper technique and supervision. The intensity and volume of the training should be appropriate for their individual abilities and development.
    Ages 16 and above:
Teenagers can typically engage in more advanced weightlifting and athletic training programs, similar to those designed for adults. However, it is still important to prioritize proper form, gradual progression, and adequate recovery.
It is crucial for children and teenagers to receive guidance from qualified professionals, such as pediatricians, sports medicine specialists, or certified strength and conditioning coaches, to ensure safe and appropriate training programs.
These experts can provide personalized advice based on an individual's physical development, skill level, and specific goals.
Remember, the goal is to promote overall health and well-being, rather than focusing solely on performance or aesthetics.
Encouraging a well-rounded approach to physical activity, including a variety of sports and exercises, is essential for the healthy growth and development of children and teenagers.
