Still listening to this amazing man in 2023. I grew up with all the good ole fellas from the 80s & early 90s country and Dwight Yoakum was one of my top favs. He made those jeans worth looking at 😊
Overseas Germany late 1986..and this cassette is playing non stop in our makeshift barracks while shooting Tank Table VIII thanks to our fearless leader, Captain Steven Breen who just loved Dwight! We ended winning Best Platoon that winter..Thankyou Lt Colonel Joseph Sutton for all the "Honor and Courage" Sir🇺🇲
I met Dwight yoakum at don fox park in Lebanon TN and I was 12 13 he was so surprised that I knew who he was and what he did. Got to talking about sling blade and everything. He invited me my bro and uncle to a party, but my mom refused to let us go.... And that was the last day I told my mom anything
They were first considered too rock back in the day when he went big, but it's his music that I still remember... I started with early country in the 80's as a kid and went to rock/alternative. He is honestly the peak of country music and darn it he's just that good!
@@Aint1S Actually, too country ... he was doing an authentic country thing at a time when Nashville was all caught up in syrupy, stringy schlock. The punk kids loved him though, and that's where he found an audience.

@Dwight Yoakam🎵 are you the guy on sling blade who says “get out of my house! That goes for cocksuckers AND retards!” That was my favorite line in any movie ever.
When my son was a baby I sang this and play his older brother toy guitar to make him stop crying. He always stopped crying and looked at me like "oh my God, this is my life now!"
Haven't listend to this song in years, but the chorus of this song just gets stuck in my head sometimes, I don't know why, but I just decided to give it a listen tonight. So glad. God I miss 90s country!
got my Beacon theatre tickets! Can't wait to see Dwight in concert. I never get tired of listening to him. Hope he does Suspicious Minds and Buck Owen's Together Again.
This record was suitably retro in 1986 when it came out. Modern country was too modern and this was perfect, still is. We saw Mr Dwight Yoakam back then at Massey Hall. We waited outside his bus after the show. He didn't come out but he sent out some signed pics and we were delighted.
love, love , love Dwight, i remember when he first started, he was young, boy could he move his body in those tight jeans, i still love to watch his older viseos, with all his beautiful moves,
Hello Nancy 👋 Simple music can make you sing, a simple hug can make you feel, better, simple things can make you happy, I hope my simple hello will put a smile on your face..
I always felt Dwight was under rated and underappreciated. Been a big fan since the 80's. My go to song is "Fast as You" Never gets old and stands the test of time. Dwight is a country music legend!!!
Oh mister Dwight…how I love you. 💕. Funny, you’ve been simply a part of my life, since I was, 12? But it was not an overt obsession with you…let’s liken it to this: Someone goes on a trip to Las Vegas. another goes on a trip to Bakersfield. Thing is, overtly, it would appear the person who went to Vegas would have a better time, yea? Well not so fast…seems Bakersfield is visited by this person frequently…so incredible nostalgia forms. And you find yourself drawn back there, time and again. 💕. You ARE the Bakersfield trip. It carries more weight. SO DO YOU! You ARE AN incredibly talented musician and artist. I feel honored every time I sing your songs. They bring me joy, love, fun, lots of dancing, and singing as I learned, so many years ago from YOU. (Well, and the JUDDS). I’m trying to get TACHI PALACE to book me a few weekends…to cover your songs. People NEED nostalgia. And memories of being made to feel good. By you. I only hope, if they agree, that I could perform in a way that FULLY honors YOU! *grew up in Kerman/Fresno/Clovis, ca. Now in Slo county. Dwight hasn't disappeared. In 2024 he's busy performing in a national tour. Dwight has been a radio DJ on SiriusXM since 2018. His channel is called Dwight Yoacham and the Bakersfield Beat (Channel 349). It's one of my favorite channels on satellite radio.
Dwight has this sixth sense about covers. Knows what suits him and what's gonna have the most mileage to them. From Everlys, Parsons, Beach Boys and Lefty.
Dwight Yoakam is the darnest country singer ever!! He is so good at singing 😍. His music is un believable!! He's my favorite singer next to Big & Rich!!
Been listening to this man sence I could walk lol listen to what my father did still do 30 years later watched and love south of Haven west of hell, panic room, and vest of all when trumpets fade
I've never liked Country music, ever. I'm a die-hard rocker. Then I watched Ken Burn's "Country Music", found this, and have now discovered that there is some wonderful Country music. There's so much in common with Stevie Ray Vaughan and this song. This kicks ass!
that radio sound effect was cool, searching through the stations, and you come across honky tonk man right as it was coming on, i love this kind of music vids becaus3e of the radio sound effects lol. you even had some interrod and heterodyne in there too which made it cooler sounding. and i do a lot of dx listening myself too. love it guys.
Dwight is so freaking cool! His voice, his moves, his attitude, his charm.
Yes I agree and a awesome singer
Cuz he was punk first
They better put him in the country music Hall of Fame one day
He's underrated cause he's not a sell out. He cracks his voice like no other. Proud to listen to your music and watch your acting .
