I had no idea it was a cover, so for other readers: the original was by Sue Lyon (who?) in 1962. I sure did notice that the song here had that 60s girl-group sound!
Many thanks to Elefant Records for sharing with the longtime Primitives faithful! Glad to see the band doing something different with this rare early 60's cover CD. Bravo!
I've just come across this delightful song interpreted by The Primitves on my Deezer app. I've been listening to it endlessly. Great version. Great band.
Turn off the moon It's much too bright Turn off the moon Who needs the moon tonight? Turn off the light That shines from above It's nicer in the shadows When you're falling in love I only need my baby's eyes To light the way From here to paradise Turn off the moon While we're in the park So I can give my lover boy A kiss in the dark Turn off the moon It's much too bright Turn off the moon Who needs the moon tonight? Turn off the light That shines from above It's nicer in the shadows When you're falling in love I only need my baby's eyes To light the way From here to paradise Turn off the moon While we're in the park So I can give my lover boy A kiss in the dark Turn off the moon It's much too bright Turn off the moon Who needs the moon tonight? well well well..what a great way to start the new year i u tubed one of my favourite bands of all time to listen to some tracks and what do i see,a song i've never heard before which means a new album is on the horizon i expect...come on guys don't teeze me like this..tracey your still cute and the band well still look'n stylish as usual....
Perhaps it's because The Primitives make Indie Pop tunes rather than Punk songs. They tend to cover more psychedelic 60s stuff more than any other style i notice
CHris Henniker I love their stuff too, one of my favourite bands of all time. Nah, it's like some bands you can find to hear...their influence is more from The Velvet Underground.
New stuff? I miss the old band. My 5 year old nephew could write a song just like this and perform it. I stopped the song after 45 seconds... and I happen to like "cheesey" music.... but this is just too over the tops.
Saw them in LA and San Diego in '16, they put on a great show. Tracy's voice is as clear as ever.
Primitives certainly knew what to cover and they did it amazingly.

Glad to see pure pop is still being made
Excellent !!!

They’re so amazing. This whole album is so amazing.
What a great cover.
This is a fantastic song! Sounds like from the 1950s! No Serial Killer.
It’s from the 60’s movie Lolita.
True talent never dies!! Bless Tracy and the great Primitives. Fabulous stuff and love their music so much
I wish I could get old this way
Oh My God! I have been in love for 35 years.

Can’t wait t see them live again in June this year in Newcastle. It’s been way too long........
if this got airplay it wouldve been top ten !
I love The Primitives.
Gorgeous cover
She's so cute, bless her. Glad they're still going 😊 This video is also very sweet.
The new album of originals is brilliant.
I definitely will have to check it out. What I've heard so far has been great.
Word for the wise: it's worth traveling a couple hundred miles to see their one hour show.
Nice latin feel with the Maracas!! Another great class song by them
I think they get better with age. Would love to see them live...
Just a lovely song.
Having seen them once already this year I'm going again on Fri.. Love this band soo much and Tracy Tracy is hot in real life too
She still looks good and they all sound good. Welcome back. Better late than never.
Still a fantastic band
Oh my gosh. These guys are so weird, and it's simply delightful. xD
It is great to watch and hear them again. Thanks.
los amo
Love it . And Fender Jaguars I think.
Great❤❤
Well done guys! Missed you!
Auténtica y divinísima!!!
Still got it. Cute song.

I love this
Morrissey needs to tour with Primitives. Hopefully he won't cancel.
ZEPPELIN needs to tour with The Primitives.
Me encanta!
Siiiiiiiii!!!!! ;-) Gracias Cov kids!
Clare Quilty sent me here. J/K. My decades-old fondness for this band did, quite some time ago.
in 1962, from Stanley Kubrick's "Lolita", she was just 14 at the time, she is now 63. Stillman & Harris wrote the song.
who ??
@@alejandropublicitari Sue Lyon ("Lolita") originally sang this in '62.
LOVE IT
powerful bass...
Примитивс вернулись! Не может быть!
*originally by Sue Lyon* needs to be written in the description.
demasiado optimista
Sue Lyon recorded this originally
What a phrrr?!!!
This video is great....hilarious how P.J. and Tig both look like they drank a few bottles of Jamison's between 'em the night before this vid shoot....
You are talking to us from the streets. We call them maracas.
Every time that I listen to The Primitives I think about Morrissey (in a good way).
Oh okay, whoops!! Thanks for that, got mixed up. Nevermind they sound great on this song. ;-)
Amazing!
I even wonder why they haven't done a Ramones cover yet?
'cause the Ramones suck
Perhaps it's because The Primitives make Indie Pop tunes rather than Punk songs. They tend to cover more psychedelic 60s stuff more than any other style i notice
I think their stuff is so cute, but their early stuff has Ramones influences.
CHris Henniker I love their stuff too, one of my favourite bands of all time. Nah, it's like some bands you can find to hear...their influence is more from The Velvet Underground.
Well I'm not talking about The Primitives. Sue Lyon is old singer it has nothing compared to The Primitives. Primitives they are in their own place.
You need a time machine
I thought Primitives don't sing anymore.
@primitivesBAND
Does any red-blooded male not absolutely love Tracy?
really!!!...saadok???
New stuff? I miss the old band. My 5 year old nephew could write a song just like this and perform it. I stopped the song after 45 seconds... and I happen to like "cheesey" music.... but this is just too over the tops.
It's a fun redux of a 1960s hit. Think "fun" and then the song is great.
flo9 but he has not has he?
She is talking to Clare Maguire I think.
Those are castanets not maracas ;-)
Who are you talking to?
Sigh.... Tracy Tracy Tracy....
Pessima rispetto all'originale
