So if you're traveling and reach out to a hotel, how would you ask to get paid for the video on top of a comped stay?
I would reach out explaining that you are a videographer and make commercial videos (you can send them a portfolio of your work) and ask if they are currently in need of video services. If they say yes you can send them your rate card (or mention in the first e-mail 'if this is something of interest I'd be happy to send over my rates for projects like this'

Hi Laura, thanks for the tips, really appreciate it! If they agree to pay the price you set, do you take a deposit before leaving and how do you do that? Is it through your website or? In other words, how do you make the client trust you that after paying a deposit you will actually turn up and do the job.
I normally just invoice after! But if you’re worried you could also negotiate 50% up front
