After many years of listening to many great composers, I think I have finally come to the conclusion that Scarlatti is the greatest of them all. I absolutely love Bach and Mozart, it goes without saying. I am also extremely fond of Brazilian choro and other genres. But I believe that Domenico Scarlatti is both the most universal and -- I realize there will be disagreement on this -- the most profound. For me, anyway. "Quicquid recipitur, recipitur juxta modum recipientis." In any case, I hope more people will realize the absolute, mysterious beauty of this music.

It drives me crazy when people say that. It seems to be a default statement of purists any time baroque music is played expressively. Notice he isn't overusing the pedal, and his rhythmic nuance is subtle. If he removed the rhythmic nuance it would be very square and boring.
@@renatofabbro5263 It works both ways in the end. I personally prefer the more "stable" approach, but this style sounds perfectly fine when listening without bias.

Matthew Vallarino Certainly the dumb ones who immediately swoon when they see his fake expressions and grimaces just for the gallery, believing they see a divine artist whereas in reality they see just one other specimen of this contemporary breed of narcissistic and camera conscious players who think that putting up a facial show for major effect (Lang Lang paved the way!) will draw the attention to themselves and will win the hearts of, well, some ladies. Perhaps.
+hdholl Nice playing, albeit a bit slow for me, but I agree about the facial expressions. I am often moved by the music I'm playing, but I don't get that carried away, especially if I have an audience. It's just awkward. If this guy wants to zone out into the music, that's fine and it will pass on to the audience because it would be genuine.
Trust me every piece of Scarlatti sonata is wonderful

I don't know about every piece. But almost every piece.
Love the delicacy of his interpretation :D
Questa sonata conduce in fondo al cuore, dove risiede la
tristezza dell’amore senza farci dimenticare le sue carezze.
OOOOOOOOOOH!!! Me like. So delicate. So heartfelt. WONDERFUL interpretation!!!
A performance so creative!
Bravo, ❤
I heard a busker play this piece on the guitar in Nozza just where the photunda used to be and it was fantastic.
Divine
Magnifique, merci 🙏💜🙏
This sounds good on guitar as well and I am so lucky I play it
Hermosa melodía que llena mi roto corazón ...el infortunio me acompaña, pero esta melodía lo hace más resistible.😢

isn´t this melody from the opera "la fierecilla domada"??
I'm learning this piece at the moment, still can't get the hang of grace notes :/
+Julia Ostlund try without sunglasses.
Where he learn to interpret like this. Not from S.Babayan.
Babayan has never recorded this sonata.
good pianist but i wasn't very fond of this interpretation. too delicate

this guy must get all the ladies!
