    Let’s be blunt, what a dubious episode! Those guys were living the high life, and were super dope! I’m surprised they were able to stay high drated out there. It must have been a joint decision to cross that wash out by those 2 best buds. I thought that bus was for sure gonna get drug out, but it just kept rollin.

    The bus dudes were pretty cool, nice and laid back. They were also overtly humble and thankful that your crew saved them after 3 days of being stuck out in that desert. I also like that he gave you all some mineral samples. Most people might just call them rocks, and they are definitely that, but being a geology nerd I can appreciate the quartz and pyrite cubes for what they are, and I think they're cool gifts.
    Oh, and I doubt that Skeeter fella woulda had a lot of luck jumping on tat train, as hobos learned along ago that they have to wait for the trains to slow down before they have even a chance of hopping on them. So hobos typically hang out just outside of train yards to get on or off them when they slow down drastically approaching or leaving the yards, or when they hit a sharp curve or uphill climb. Trying to jump on or off of a massive chunk of metal that has millions of pounds of force behind it, going anything over 5 miles an hour, is probably not gonna be fun for anyone involved.

    As someone who owns an old ambulance, I can tell you those old trucks will surprise you wheeling. The big problem with that bus and the washes was its departure angle was just shallow enough to get it hung on the back. If the axle were closer to the rear (like my ambulance) it would have had no issue at all. Fun fun. All it needed was a gentle nudge to get it off the frame and it was ready to go again, both times. Love those big dually boxes. Makes me think I should get busy and fix mine now. :)

      That one on a van chassis wouldn’t be ideal because they’re so low. But, a short bus on a medium duty chassis does pretty good offroad. They have decent ground clearance, a good wheelbase, and short overhangs. Just need solid ground as they sink quick.

Shocked With The Location, But Did What The Client Wanted.....The NEXT Thing I Know Is He's Taking Three Elephants Out Of The Trailor, Put On Their Harnesses & Moved The Truck & Trailer Where They Actually Needed To Go!....Always An Interesting Adventure! I grew up on the Oregon coast where we had miles and miles of "gravel" logging roads, a lot of us learned to drive on them, it gets a little confusing when you go to areas where people call them dirt roads. Of only minor interest unless you are a weird trivia person, they are not really "gravel" but crushed rock, gravel is the smooth round rock that you find in river and creek beds but everyone I know, myself included call them gravel roads.

    • @kenclark2848

    • @Coldfire840
      @Coldfire840 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My trivial mind puts the rock you're describing as river rock which is a form of gravel. But you are not wrong, Gravel is naturally occurring, and what most people see is crushed rock since it's processed down from larger stones.

I've owned a Estwing 9 lb dead-blow for 20+ yrs, and i can't tell you how many times a could of solid strikes with that sucker, has saved me countless kicks with my boot, as well as far less chances of marking the wheel face, or killing my knee from forcefully donkey kicking the stuck wheel. Definitely worth looking into It MORR team.

    Growing up I lived on a gravel road that was eventually oiled and stoned... A tanker truck would come down the road spraying oil... A dump truck would then come down spreading stone over the oil... eventually traffic would press the stones into the oil creating a semi hard surface... If you were one of the 1st few vehicles to travel the road after it was oiled and stoned it would kick oil up onto your vehicle... People would have to drive into town to the local auto parts store and purchase bug and tar remover to get it off

Expensive conversion but they don't hold any value so you can pick them up used pretty cheap. Course it's still a big heavy vehicle with terrible approach and departure angles so you still need to be careful.
