you just took in count the higest dps, but dude who uses a melee ranged turret for viking od? we usualy use close-mid turrets, like smoky, thunder, hammer, etc, but who in this world would say firebird or freeze is good for this od?

for modes like siege , things like striker or short range turrets seem better option. for normal gameplay which players aren't usually in batches, things like hammer seems to be good.
hammer the best, no matter projectile speed, splash and damage, good for both killing or hunting jugs. thunder and rail are supposed to be good due to splash and penetrate, but due to protection and it is easy to "wasste " the shoots if not aiming accurately. magnum, od in long range, otherwise even harpoon will shoot air. close range, i prefer other hulls, it is more effective than viking od due to the limit of range and recharge speed.
With Hammer, you need to get close enough to the opponent to blast the full damage into them. Hammer's pellets spread over a long distance, so only some of them may hit. When shooting from too far away, Hammer's damage may decrease by 50% and sometimes 75%. It's a short range turret for a reason. With that in mind, Hammer has a decent DPS. During its 3 shots it has downright oppressive damage, but it's that clip reload that brings it down. Thunder, for instance, is much more consistent, but Hammer's DPS should be able to match it. Railgun has a lower DPS. Smoky has a higher DPS.
