  • Felix Mendelssohn, born on February 3, 1809 visited Venice in 1830 at the age of 21. He fell in love with the city's canals and the sights and sounds of the gondolas. Legend has it that Mendelssohn was deeply moved by a moonlit gondola ride through the canals .Inspired by this, the composed six short piano pieces that capture the feeling of being on a boat in Venice. These songs became really popular because they beautifully reflect the charm and atmosphere of the city.
The video includes the full piano score.
