Nice video mate! I had to replace my bloated iPod Nano 2nd gen battery last week, thankfully everything went smoothly! (using your iPod repair guide ofc)! :)
Instead of replacing the original battery I stuck an empty iPod nano 2g to the back of my iPod nano 2g and put a 1500mAh battery inside the empty shell. The battery now lasts over 100hrs 🥳 Soldering and drilling skills required! The only downside is that my nano is twice as thick, but it's not a problem for me 😎 I don't recommend anyone try this unless they have knowledge and understand how to work safely with lithium batteries!
5:24 _"you have to lookup the regulations on how to dispose of lithium batteries in your area"_ 5:56 _"so yeah, I'll just take it and chuck it in the bin"_ 😭
I charged my iPod nano 2 for like 5 minutes and then unplugged it because the battery started to expand, can I still pop it safely or possibly drain it enough for it to be safe?
5:00 Am I understanding this correctly? Is there a danger for me to try and charge one of my very old, fully uncharged cell phones/ipods? esp if i plug it into a diff voltage power brick?
I charged my old iPod nano gen4 after several years laying around empty charged in a drawer. it worked perfectly, until the screen broke by an inflated battery.
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I have had an ipod classic 7gen for a long time now, and it is starting to get a little black spot of death, I found a mod shop online that says they will change out the battery and upgrade the storage, but is it worth it, or even safe for them to do so?
Hello, yes it is safe, the old battery just needs to be disposed of properly. We do mail in repairs for the classic 7th gen as well and can install an upgraded 3000mah battery which is over 4x bigger than the original as well as switch out the hard drive for flash storage up to 1TB.
I have before and i didnt die. Actually i have done this many more times since making this video and still no explosions. just don't poke all the way through and it should be good. It seems they only catch fire if the positive and negative side inside the battery touch each other whilst there is a charge. If you look through my youtube shorts i have many more videos showing it being done

Thanks, glad to hear it went well!
Dankpods would like to speak to you
He literally has a jar full of ipods like this, it'd be cool if he could restore them
Why does Dankpods have a fear of iPod nano batteries? It’s really quite easy to replace them lol
@@ibmpcidk looking at the iFixit guides, it looks like quite a process
@@chair5728 Only if you don’t know how to solder :) thankfully I do and it was quite easy
Bruh i just came from the huge nugget video

It won't charge if it drops below a certain level. If it still charges you are in luck 👍

1:53 where did you find that video from? I can't find it anywhere
I'm actually impressed it can be heated up to 140°F safely lol
Honestly? Great info to know. I recently fixed a 2G shuffle (similar construction to a 2G nano) by brute force, good to know that isn’t needed

Does this work the same for 4th gens? I have one with a giant black spot of death, first time repairing an iPod so I’m a little nervous XP
yeah it does. I have some shorts where i show me doing it on nano 4th gens
@ Thank you!! ^_^
I popped a brand new fully charged LiOn battery and I’m holding you responsible
😱 you only have yourself to blame 😉
Is the battery placed in the same place with the nano 4?
Would it be safe to do this if it has been plugged in for a minute or so?

I've been doing this with caution of course since I started my iPod hobby

why are both ipod people i know of aussie
Yeah lmao I bought from this guy on eBay for my iPod, wonder why so many aussies like ipods
It's hot in Australia. More chance for the battery to overheat and expand? 🤷
It's Dankpods Cousin

I was the one to say the joke, you just said it louder
It's not diffuse... It's defuse
