@@NWFishingSecrets gotta be a trout pond though nobody tries that!
@@nothingbuttrains9241absolutely 👌🏼 trout ponds are tough to do, but I’m down for the challenge
What would he stock it with?
He's living every mans dream, we need more of this individualized horticultural land and people who actually care enough about their surroundings in the world.
Hey Leif, I am so happy that you are starting to get more into fly fishing. For the dry flies I suggest you get some floatant and some dry shake. The floatant helps the dry fly stay dry which allows it to float, and the dry shake dries up the fly very quickly. Fish on!!!
Thanks for the tips! Got some float ant already but never heard of dry shake! Loving fly fishing every time I go now 🐛
Wet fly: beaded Cadis nymph.
(matches springtime hatch)
Easy and accurate to cast.
Let it settle, slow lift.
Super easy to make on your own.
Hook, bead,peacock quill.
Barbliss Hooks are only allowed in my area when fishing for native German brown trout.
As someone who just started fishing last year I'm deep in fishing fever atm and it's only compounded by the fact here in Australia our fishing season just ended.
So to come home with dinner and to see a new vid up is just perfect, the kids and I watch every video of yours. Kids tried their first rainbow trout the other week, cooked it just as you do. They had a blast.
Keep at it man, you really inspire a lot of us! You have some serious killer vids, Washington is a seriously beautiful state.
Thanks for the kind comment man! Glad you and the kids are enjoying fishing and that they tried Trout! Greetings to Australia and Fish on babyy!! 🎣
"Guys we gotta be quiet when fishing for trout because they can sense the vibrations as you walk,"- throws net on the bank. Lol
😆
Love your excitement for the wilderness. Makes me feel like I'm enjoying the adventure with you. Keep up the amazing adventures.
Glad to have you along on the adventure! :)
So true. I dive into the wild nature with him each time I watch his videos.
Love the respect for nature ...we need more people with that attitude and humility that's what makes you so awesome and I have respect for you
Nothing better than waking to the sound of the trees and the birds, then walking out your tent and seeing snow capped mountains in the distance. I can’t wait to go backpacking in Colorado again. Keep up the good work! I love your videos and they remind me of home :)
Couldn't agree more! Thank you for enjoying! 🏔
I can’t even begin to express how much joy I experience watching your videos.
You have the most beautiful, fun, and kind content! I always really look forward to watching your content - each one is almost like a nature documentary, and you always do an excellent job with your production, music, editing, and everything else to make it really enjoyable to watch, and it makes a great difference!
Thanks very much for sharing your journey, experiences, and kind personality with us through TH-cam, Leif!
Best wishes from Ireland, and God bless you! :)
Thank you for such a kind comment :) I really enjoy sharing the adventures with you guys 🎣 fish on baby!!
I love this guy so much dude. He makes my days so much better and I love seeing how happy he gets when he gets a fish on and he lands it, we need more people like him in our lives and I’ve been watching him for years. Definitely one of the best TH-camrs and most consistent and loyal ones there are! Keep it going man, we all love you!!!
I get so inspired by your videos, so I biked to a small lake close to where I live here in Northern Norway. Caught 2 wild brown trouts that was around 400grams each, I released them so that they can grow bigger. Had one bigger one after the lure, but couldn't trick it to bite.
Keep these type of videos coming, I look forward to each video
I asked my llama if his cousin wanted to go camping. Thrilled, he ran off screaming, “Alpaca tent!”.😂😂
Great adventure! It reminds me when I was a kid fishing with my grandpa.
Thank you for taking us all with you! Your videos are incredibly inspiring and knowledgeable! 💯
Thanks for watching! Glad to bring back good memories :) 🎣
I love that the chicken let you pet them and they are drawn to you! It was so precious!
You did not just rattle that thing 🤣
Hahah
Hahaha
Just the tip 😏😜
@@NWFishingSecrets omg hahaha 🤣😅😂
I'm busted out laughing when you said airborne trout. LOL I enjoyed this video very much as I do all of your videos .
The last fish you caught was so beautiful. Those dots along the middle was just crazy. I don’t wanna be negative but I think it’s funny when your hiking up mountains and the cameras at the bottom and you gotta walk back down to get the cam. Anything for that B Roll! Love the videos!
Man, Leif. What a cool life you are making for yourself! Such a beautiful area to live in. I really enjoy the little snippets of farm life that you include. Snake wrangling is something you don't see a lot! Your editing is getting excellent too. When you started off on that little creek I was like, 'Oh, man, dry fly!' And then you pulled one out of your wallet. Yes!!
What a great little adventure you had in this video. Can’t wait for your next camping, catch and cook.
Watching your vids made me motivated to go trout fishing. I caught some browns in a small Wisconsin stream and got my dad on his first brown.
That’s awesome! Congrats on the Browns!! 🔥 🎣
Greetings from Ireland. I absolutely love your videos and almost sharing in your many adventures. You are a breath of goodness and thank you for the joy and pleasure you share.
Thank you for such a kind comment :) Greetings to Ireland! 🎣
Can’t wait to get into it! Great content as always. I love your enthusiasm btw. 😂
Thanks for enjoying!! 😂 🎣
@@NWFishingSecrets Thank you for replying! I didn’t grow up in the outdoors (I’m from NYC) but I would love to experience and learn more about it. Hopefully one day I can buy some property out in rural areas and just experience the outdoor life. I just love that you’re so down to earth and you just seem so genuine.
I agree with Peter, it helps to keep that dry fly floating on the surface and when dry fly fishing it is always best to fish upstream. Love your trout fishing adventures and hope there are more this summer.
Love learning all the fly fishing tips from you guys! Lots of Trout adventures this summer.... 🎣
Great adventure Leif ! Greetings from Malaysia
Leif, have you encountered rattlesnakes on your desert camp yet?
Both slopes of the Cascade Mountain Range have some beautiful country and great outdoor recreation. Pros and cons on both sides too, of course. On the eastern side, it can get a bit hot for my own preference, the ticks are much more numerous and then there are rattlesnakes. I grew up in snake country and had a few encounters. It took many years of living in western WA before I got used to not worrying about what might be slithering near my unseen feet when pushing my way through thick underbrush of salal, huckleberry and the like. I'm in the process of moving to the east side myself, and will have to learn caution again around rock ledges and brush piles and when picking up lumber and other building materials from outdoor stacks.
Stay safe!
I've found one Rattlesnake at the desert property (big one) last year. Was really cool cause my dad was visiting from Germany where they don't have them and he enjoyed seeing it. Very true about Westside vs Eastside. We take it for granted over West how few dangerous animals there are. Lots of Black Widows and scorpions here at the mountain farm too. Will share in a future video! Have a safe move back East!
absolute savage for petting that thing, love the property updates!!
I’m new to your channel and I have to say they are so fun and entertaining, teaches me a lot about nature
Thanks for enjoying the adventures! Glad to have you subscribed :)
That was a grasshopper on his head and also I love your videos and you always bring a joy to me ❤
Love the content no matter what it is. Your energy is unmatched dude!
Haha glad to have you along for the adventures!!
God bless you Leif. I so love watching your videos. Your passion for nature and animals is infectious and I love living vicariously through you. One day I'd like to have my own homestead property and emulate everything you're doing. Hope you're doing well, and thank you for producing your amazing content! ❤️
I'm really looking forward to the goats! Great episode, as always.
😆 man do I already have some stories for you guys....... 🐐
Just making me hungry for your more of your full blown alpine adventures. Need some more of the camping ones in beautiful forests! Looking forward...
Yes, I love it!
Looks like you're getting better at fly fishing!!😁
Hey Leif, just wanted to say that I really enjoy your videos, they make me feel closer to my late grandpa who loved to fish. Thanks for what you do, your positivity is infectious :)
Awesome man! Love your new location! Congrats on the mountain trout farm man. Lookin good!
Thank you!! Every day is a new challenge out here!! 😆 glad to share the adventures with you guys!!
When I was a younger Man we used to have folk drop us off like 5 6 miles up creek and we would fish all the way back down stream you talk about catching some Beauties... as you well know you get to go through places on the creek nobody has never fished before or very seldom. Awesome Experience....
Love these videos man! they always make my day!❤
Means so much to hear! Thanks for enjoying!
I have been a casual watcher on this channel since about a year ago.
You really inspire me to go out there and explore,
I live in the Philippines and we have a lot of good spots for camping and exploring.
I get really excited whenever there's a new video in this channel.
This'll be my first comment, I dunno if you're gonna see this tho.
Fish on baby!
My man just casually playing with the rattle of a rattlesnake 😎
just a tickle haha
Them little trout are very clever. Hide yourself at all times..once they see you. They'll never touch anything. Awesome vid
Hey Leif I love the videos man keep up the great work! I love the fly fishing content and a tip I would recommend is looking under a rock and seeing what grubs live underneath to see what they might be munching on! Anyway keep up the great work!
Glad you're enjoying it! It's been a ton of fun to learn! Great idea to look under some rocks....
@@NWFishingSecretsglad I can help I learned that trick from my uncle and has worked almost every time!
Fly fishing instructor here: try putting the fly line on top of your middle and index finger and then grasp the rod with it when stripping the line in. Your basically clamping the line between your fingers and the rod handle. Gives you much more control when stripping and better hook sets.
Love your videos 😊 just relaxing
Ive been of work sick the past week and literally binged watched every single one of your videos your literally my favourite youtuber now, your energy is unmatched keep up the great content bro your vids are so entertaining💙
Fantastic wee video, love it when you use the fly rod! Best bit....18.01min. "Oh, there it is.....fish on baby!" Sets hook and pulls trout's face off!😂 Keep em coming Leif.
😆 Gotta get me a lighter rod for those lil guys! Thanks for enjoying, will do! 🎣
Am i the only one who was worried about the snake overheating in that bucket?
Yes
you bet
your energy is addicting, makes me want to get my butt off the couch and go fishing. stay wild
I love fly fishing but i only catch trees most of the time😂, i love these videos to three so relaxing❤
Oh I love catching trees while fly fishing 😂
Another awesome fly fishing video. Thank you for posting this. Glad that snake didn't get a chunk of you, either.
Leif,
Very cool, and enjoyable entertainment! My most memorable fly fishing on tiny creeks is to be very stealthy on approaching the holding holes and actually getting the fish to jump out of the water to eat the fly as it flies just above the surface.
That would be amazing! 🎣 🪰
Love your videos...all of them were so surreal and enjoyable! Really wish I could come up there to your ranch for a visit! Love to watch you cookin' up grub too!
Another great one! The footage of the rattlesnake and the cricket would make David Attenborough impressed. Take care, good man.
Ayyyyyyyy! Finally something to sit back, relax and enjoy tonight. Finally starting to get nice and summery... cant wait to see the alpine lake videos to come. I know I'm definitely doing a bunch of hiking up along I90, hwy2 and especially up in the idaho panhandle. I would love to see some more fly fishing videos because I'm just starting to learn it hahaha. Maybe you could do a trip to Idaho or some more eastern washington videos! Fish on and happy hiking season!
Bro, 3 weeks is a lot for us waiting for your new awesome episodes 😂 every weekend I remember you, I got motivated to see your adventures. Keep going and never stop uploading new awesome videos
Leif mate! When u cast ur fly line out in front aim about 3-6 feet above the water level which you want to fish. This will allow your fly to hit the water softly vs like a crash. The leader will shoot out beyond the fly line and fall vertically down to the water surface.
Glad u took just the fly rod this time mate!
Tight lines 😊
Amazing content, you deserve all the love and MORE! Love watching these adventures. Much love ❤️
Thank you for another awesome video, I couldn't wait ! :D
I enjoy your videos. Me and kids watch your videos all the time. Keep the great content coming my friend
Always hyped for a new NW upload
Keep doing what you love and don’t let everyone pull you back
you should take some of those prickly pear cactus pads and stuff them in the ground, they will grow and give you more fruit. They are known for "walking across the desert". They grow big enough to fall over and the individual pads root and start another plant.
Awesome video as ever... You are getting much better at fly fishing. When I lived in Scotland I had a similar place under a bridge which was challenging but rewarding to fish... Got to figure out your side casts 😄
Looking forward to getting back to WA and getting out there!
NW Fishing Secrets it's always fun to watch you do different things in your videos
Im going to save this video for tomorrow, thanks for the upload.
Going to enjoy this one with my morning coffee, love your videos!
Brother we love your energy in videos, feels like you instructing us in real.
You rattling the rattle snake 😂 I'm glad you found a home for him .deer and fishing you are living the most awesome life thanks for sharing this.
😆 Hope he likes living up in the mountains 🐍 Thanks for joining the adventure!
It’s been a while but man I really enjoy your videos wonderful to see you again, Fish On!!!
Hahah that grasshopper had zero fear 😂 It's nice of you to relocate the rattlesnake, that was honestly terrifying. Made me realize I need to really pay attention to if they're around in my area of washington, I've never really paid attention. Your farm is so cool! I hope that coyote never comes back.
Yo man just wanna say thank you for the vids over the years just now getting to the age where. I can drive myself and will be taking myself to mountains and lakes to fish just like you, thank you
Thank you man that means a lot to hear! Congrats on being able to get out and explore by yourself! Lots of adventures waiting out there for you 🎣 be safe and fish on!!
Ayyyyyyyy lez goo, cool fact if you whip any snake like you’re whipping a towel it will immediately put it to sleep. Obviously head isn’t in your hand while you whip it, the tail is!
Was wondering what end I'd need to hold 😆 Didn't know that!
EpiZOOOODDDEEEE..grabbing snacks and hanging on the couch for the next 45 mins
I love your guinea's hands and chickens! Cool snake! And a good job on your irrigate waterexclamation point🙂👍✌️👋
All of that nature right by your farm property very nice adventure looks fun. 🙌
Nature Boy..
Love your symbolic relationships with all life forms. Thank you.
Another good one!..👊🏿🇯🇲
I watch all your videos. I like them very much. May you be given the strength to carry on with your passion. Sending love from Sri Lanka : )
I’m so glad that running water in Norway is clean
Loved the drone shot chasing the truck! Like a trout chasing a fly, or a madman chasing a rattlesnake!😊
Your always doing crazy adventures and making the rest of us want to to the same crazy stuff that you do thank you for the inspiration. Keep it up!❤️
A mid-week treat!!! Thanks Leif!
Thanks for enjoying! Hoping to have the next one for you this weekend! Gonna be a good one 🐐 😂
man thats my dream fish freeely no work do videos of doing what you love and thats youre job at the same time and of course having a farm. Thats so cool i wanna be just like you
Different than usual. Liked it. You always keep it interesting. Wish I had your life. Single mum in NZ not as easy, but I will keep looking forward to what you give us. Thank you. ❤
Beautiful! Cant wait to find everything else that hide close to to your new home!
You and me both! Thanks for watching!! :)
Awesome video! Always look forward to your uploads. Really enjoy seeing all aspects of your life, not just fishing(but love that too!)
Thanks! Glad you enjoy the adventures around the farm too! 😆 🐍
Hey man, love your content. I grew up in western Montana fishing the same style creeks and backcountry lakes very similar to your area. The best setup for those streams and lakes is an elk hair caddie fly, then attach 10-12 inches of liter and tie on a prince nymph or bead head nymph and use that as a dropper. You will slay fish on both the dry fly and wet fly….even get doubles at times! Get yourself a few bottles of gink (fly float) I have had 100+ fish days on backcountry lakes and streams. One other thing I noticed, if you run your excess line through your index finger of your hand on the rod it gives you the ability to control your hook sets so you only use one hand to set hooks instead of setting the hook with your line, you set the hook with the rod which results in better and easier hook sets in tight areas (banks or trees) save you from leaving a lot of flys up in trees lol. Keep grinding man I feel the same way that you do about the mountains so I respect the work you put in.
This reminds me of excellent children's programming. No way you can feel anything but good watching this if you are in touch with your inner kid. If not, I am sorry for you. This was just lovely. I am going fly fishing for trout at my special mountain place Friday. This got me MORE stoked!

a little snake 🐍 thrill with some trout excitement 🎣
Only thing missing was some coffee 😂 🐍 🎣
@@NWFishingSecrets haha! 👍🏾
I love your natural spontaneity
Leif's avocado picking skills are UNMATCHED
I’m joining watching your videos❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
glad to see you enjoying the fly fishing. look up a "hopper dropper" set up. with all those grasshoppers around it would kill with a nymph hanging 2 feet below off tippet
Great video! Great energy! Can’t wait for the next video 🤘🏽
Coming soon!
If you like fly fishing small stream you should really try fixed line tenkara fishing, makes a 6 inch trout feel like a marlin, very satisfying to fish small streams with a tenkara rod.
Love these! Keep them coming! Your excitement keeps me coming back!!
I always had an idea for a possible worm farm with a piece of plywood with outdoor plant sprinkler systems in that board to keep the ground moist and dark to attract. Along with that, maybe a compost area too if you don’t have one yet.
Longer videos please bro, some camping mushroom hunting like the good old days. Don’t get me wrong still love all the new stuff, fish on babe🎣🐠
5:44 As a plumber I definitely would recommend using primer then glue. That joint is probably gonna fail soon. But love the content. Keep it up🤙
Another great watch… you really are living a dream… thanks for sharing… very best 🍻
I love that everything becomes a “wild mountain *something*” wild mountain deer, wild mountain snake, wild mountain vole. What’s next? “wild mountain EARTHY UNDERTONES” 😂😂😂 Great work man! I always enjoy watching your stuff.
I’m going trout fishing after school today. They have these gigantic brood trout that are about the size of steelhead in the pond I’m going to but it’s mostly filled with rainbows.
