Great review! On my 4th MINI now. Just a clarification though, there are multiple colors for the ambient lighting. The color selection is not in the center display, but rather one of the toggles on the roof next to the map lights. Toggling back or forth changes the colors or you can set it to cycle through all the colors continuously.

Hello. I am deeply considering a 2023 Mini Cooper S. Since you are on your 4th Mini, can you please advise me on the long reliability. I plan on keeping mines for a long time.
I have a 2013 Clubby S tuned to stage 2. I like people to think some timid twerp is driving this car. Then when I get cut off by that same person and I happen to confront him...This 6'4" 265 lb brother gets out to see what the problem is. Yes i fit in my mini quite comfortably. I purchased the car in Florida and drove it up. Godd review of the 2023. Needs and performance tune though.
I agree that blind spot detection should have been included but the visibility is amazing that you can easily look at your blind spots the old fashioned way.

I really don’t see the fuss about those blind spot monitors. Unless you have a pick-up, large suv or are too lazy to check your surroundings, i don’t see why this feature is so important to people.
You can change the color of the ambient lights, actually there are many many colors, the button is below the Rearview mirror, and there is an option to make it change all the time while driving.
I had the 2023 mini Cooper S Convertible in blue, with chesterfield seats and gold stripes! As for an automatic that was once broken in a bad ass, fast ass convertible Mini!
Great review. Keeping it real. Question: The camera microphone makes it hard to tell, so I wonder how you feel about cabin noise, especially on that bumpy highway? Was the radio fighting to be heard over engine/road noise?
Mini owner, here. The sound system easily drowns out any road noise. He may have had the sun roof slightly open (it opens in three stages, and you can stop it between them), but, even then, the I have never had problems hearing my music over the background noise.
Ambient lighting can be changed in the center top next to where you open the moon roof. The lighting on the center circle console can also be changed to match the ambient color you chose, a rev display, or speed display. Can also coordinate to the drive mode which gives you a separate set of light options too if you prefer. -MINI owner here
I have a 2016 S with Electronic dampers. I think if you get the Electronic damper package (it's called Dynamic dampers now I think) the ride should feel even better.
I like the car, but 189 hp out of a 2L Turbo seems low. The Golf GTI is around 240, and the R pushes 300 hp out of the same. I would have thought BMW could offer better performance numbers.
This sounds really strange but I tested a 2024 MC JCW manual and a used 2015 MCS manual. The older car was faster feeling and more fun, raw feeling. The JCW seemed sleepy. Just didn’t have the same feel. Anyone else experience this? I heard the JCW has more top end feel and sacrificing a little torque. Is that true?
Great review! I absolutely despise this car though. It's my company car (not the S version) and almost everything about it makes it a terrible car. Terrible visibility, ridiculously bad and dangerous handling at high speeds, the reverse shift (manual) is right next to the first and second gear which makes it prone to shifting wrong, especially in city which this car was made for. Let's see, oh yeah, the small boot space you mentioned makes it almost impossible to drive with your kids while going grocery shopping, the ridiculously slow app to activate the remote functions,... I could go on and on. I would NEVER buy this car. I'd rather drive a PT Cruiser, yes I went there.

I think you can change the colour of the ambient light on a button near the rear view mirror
