Botond Sipos c5 is close with two less engines. Have flown on the c5 and when loaded with helicopters it can preform very well. Have seen them load tanks but never flew with that load however from the ground it looked like it was just floating in the air and the engines were screaming. Very cool to watch. I don’t want to take away from this aircraft it is certainly one of the best haul aircraft out there. I could watch this aircraft take off and land all day..

No, you did fine with the video, the earlier moments showed the ground crew security cars peeling around to get out of the path of turbine thrust, so their cars wouldn't flip. Whoever brought their Stupid dogs to the show should be thoroughly beat to a pulp, ruined Everyone's video that day! Very irresponsible! Other than that your video was great, not shaky and caught the extreme power and takeoff angle. Great Job!

When that plane came to Chile, sadly it left the country at night... So we couldn't go to watch it at SCL. But we live aprox. 14 kms south of the intl. airport, so we waited for it to fly over us. Really it was a magnificent sight, and the most loudy aircraft to have come, since the C-5 Galaxy in the 90s.

I saw it at the farnborough airshow in 1990. It was obviously very light. It took less runway to get airborne than the 4 place leopard personal jet! That is a huge wing and it is meant to carry a heavy load half way around the world. So when it is empty it gets into the air pretty quick and climbs like a scalded cat!

Although it is quite realistic to create a car with a maximum takeoff weight of about 800 tons. But such a project costs at least 1 billion, and the military and economic confrontation is constantly hindering us.
Remember Marcel Dassault's words: "to fly well a good plane must be not only well designed, if must be beautiful too" meaning a plane with harmonious shapes will be able to penetrate the air the best way. AN 225 is one of these.
I'll give the Russians one for this bird. They have a hard time designing anything with Balance, and clean lines. But once the gear retracted she was sure pretty.
I have toured the plane - 30 years ago! Big bird. I also have seen it take off and do touch and gos at the Abbotsford Airshow. That is one way to sweep your runway!
Buddy of mine toured with the ‘Stones in the 1990’s and the Antonov was actually used to get several semi trucks (or “lorrys” as they’re called in Europe) of their gear from one continent to another in short order. Not cheap though, I believe in cost about a million bucks back then.
This is ground effect at its best, the Tail getting the lift at a certain angle. If loaded would have used ground effect over longer distance. Evetex, you captured the moment, good for you. As for people complaining!, no answer for that.
Only three things to remember: 1- A C5 Galaxy isn''t nearly an aircraft with a cargo capacity like AN 225, perhaps an AN 124 2 - American enginnery can't developed a decent engine to put on a P-51, only a licensed made RR. 3 - American don't developed in time a jet engine on second war, they simply borrowed it from britains, too... Ah, a VTOL. jet, too! ( remember Harrier )

For this reason I am used to flights in extreme conditions. However, if you do a search, you will find a video about the visit on board the Antonov 225 Mriya and you will find that the upper part intended for the crew or any passengers is equipped with beds, a bathroom and a kitchen.

The longest video ever of the shortest takeoff ever. Actually, the takeoff roll was around 25 seconds long, not especially short. The distance appeared short because of the perspective it was seen at.

Worked for bon jovie and there gear was loaded into this at airport in Kent. It was going so slow when it took off it looked like it would never get airborn.. it did very noisely..

It's an optical illusion. From a distance, it looks slow. But still, it's amazing that something that big is able to get airborne at any speed.
I was just enjoying its stately elegance and grandeur as it slowly taxied toward takeoff. It really built the video up to its awesome finale.

The longest video ever of the shortest takeoff ever. Actually, the takeoff roll was around 25 seconds long, not especially short. The distance appeared short because of the perspective it was seen at.
@@dhy5342the speed what about the speed. Just seemed so ridiculously slow. Seems like they lie a little bit about these airplanes also. I know they lie about the fuel.
Worked for bon jovie and there gear was loaded into this at airport in Kent. It was going so slow when it took off it looked like it would never get airborn.. it did very noisely..

Watch "Twister"and think about the force of the air (slipstream) that the aircraft is moving through, yet it looks deceptively slow because of the size of the aircraft.
I had to watch that a couple times to believe it! Amazing!
