Touchy's getting better and better at editing (and at making fun of it) while also becoming a good history student. I bet that Touchy's past self from ten years ago would be surprised if some told him about his present self.😊

This is a song about the gamechanging victory att Breitenfeld. The Swedish army with a lot of mercenary german speaking soldiers and sachsen allies had Gott mitt uns as a war cry in the battle Breitenfeld. A battle cry was, in addition to boosting morale, also a way of distinguishing between friend and foe in battle at the time when there was a lack of uniforms. I imagine they also had a twig in their hat.
Gustav II Adolf Gott mitt uns as a signum. The Pappist or Catholics had something where they mention the Virgin Mary.

Ha ha i wrote before watching the video to the finnish . But since you mentioned that the art of war has changed so much I would like to mention that Gustav II was very modern in his warfare a lot of which there are still influences of. Fire and movement were an important part, so he had smaller and more flexible units, companies, regiments and brigades that were not used before with any greater effect, as well as smaller and easily mobile cannons. But also took back cavalry attack with pointed weapons instead of riding forward and shooting and then turning around. //Gott mit uns.

My favorite recording of this song is at the Sabaton open air 2016, wich was Tobbes last show and Tommys first one. You should check that one out because it's quite fun.

Always like your reactions to Sabaton. I did see your vlog and was sad they didn't do 82nd for you then. Your engagemang deserved it and a missed opportunity when playing in Tennessee.
In February I get to go to my first Sabaton.

18:22 That would be Peter Tägtgren, Sabaton's producer. He sang the verses (and some of the backing vocals) on this song. As far as I know, Chris and/or Tommy usually do those parts when they play this song live.
Edit: Oops, I forgot they address that later in the video.

Was gonna comment that the "on september" part sounded exactly like a "pain" song, both the voice and the rhythm, turns out it kinda was :)

Lots of great songs on the Carolus Rex album. I think it's probably their most consistent album, from beginning to end every song is really good. Hopefully the Patrons will vote to get some more songs off that album done. 1648 and Long Live the King are both awesome.

"Gott mit uns! has a long history. from the 30 jears war to the belt buckle of the Wehrmacht in WWII. Even back than it was the motto on every soldiers belt buckle. millions marched into the abbys and died .....for nothing

It started long before 30 years war, teutonic order had it and I think romans/greeks also had it but in different languages of course and it comes from the bible.

Claiming to fighting for God wasn't / isn't uncommon. The German language was seen as better than the peasents language (Swedish).
Few soldiers actually wanted to fight so a war cry invoking gods might was chosen. To give it a little more power, it was said in German.
I remember very little about the following but...
Some Swedish king ordered a book that explained the bible in a way that makes current media seem trustworthy in comparison.
The book basically explained that Jesus; Atlantis; Adam/Eve and everything good came from Sweden. It was written in Latin and Swedish. The king and bishops signed the book, proving it contained the one and only truth (so help me god 🙄).
Last i heard, this book was in Göteborg Universitet (online pdf of about 520 MB and the original handwritten book with all the signatures). I have some basic training in old Norse and Swedish but i didn't understand much. This book has suddenly disappeared.
A friendly description: this is a sensitive topic!

      I like that part where they asked if they should sing in English;
one dude in the back, "yeah!"
