The Elms is the PERFECT mansion, not just for Newport, but of all the Gilded Age masterpieces. Opulent and serene, nothing over ripe or gaudy, just elegant and inviting. I so much prefer this cottage to those ponderous Vanderbilt things anyday! Beautiful tour, thanks so much for posting it!
Lovely tour. We have been to Newport twice, once last year for the Audrain Motor week and more recently in August when we returned to tour the mansions. The Elms is my favorite from the standpoimt of how it sits so much in the open as opposed to others that are landsccaped so strongly up to their doors. Thank you, this is wonderful footage and music.

Your reference to the Venetian Corner/Cornaro family is correct as many American billionaires bought whole rooms from European palaces and transplanted them to the USA (Mr. Randolph Hearst was one of the greatest importers of European art in that manner) I want also to compliment you on your choice of music, it fits the images beautifully.
