The Iloilo Esplanades started as a one kilometer stretch. People from all works of life started to come in to stroll, jog, exercise, Zumba, sightseeing , or just to imbibe the fresh and nice green surroundings by the river. Soon, people from all walks turned this riverside road into a a strollers' walk. The City Government decided to turn it into a beautiful brick-paved treeladen, palmtrees-lined , flowers and ornamentals landscaped long walkway. Today, it is 11 kms long and still growing, with the Esplanades and Biking lanes side by side the river. Now under construction is the 5km Sunset Boulevard with its own Esplanades and Biking Lanes. This Sunset Boulevard will also pass through heron bird wading areas and the beautiful Iloilo Beach Tree Park, soon to thrill Ilonggos and visitors.

Sitting here in LA at 2 am and I've watched probably 20 straight BWC videos while putting off going to bed...and now a new subscriber. Does he (orange shirt) have a vape pen at 31 minute mark? vaping seems like a big hit in Thailand but surprised to see in Philippines??? Thanks for making the time and effort Philip.

Wow! I'm honoured. Thanks for subscribing and staying up! You're right, vaping isn't a big thing in the Phils, like smoking. Moving on to Vietnam smokers were everywhere, same in Malaysia which came as a big surprise..... ladies in headscarves, sat smoking on the sidewalk.
Have you been or planning to visit the Phils?

@@BiggWorldCinema Thanks! Yes, for four weeks a few years ago, (I was feeling crappy from arrival and sat around the rental condo half the trip and even went to the doctor there for antibiotic) and am "probably" heading back in fall 2023. Dumaguette was always in the spotlight over Cebu but now I'm thinking Cebu. Thanks again, looking forward to the next video.

Funny that you uploaded this video today, I was just walking on this riverside this evening. It’s the only city in the Philippines I have been with such a quiet place to walk. Loving Iloilo so far!

Iloilo is top #5 best city 🌆 in the World 🌎. Iloilo Queen 👑 City of the South, the river looks like London river Themes. Because main road 🛣️ in the middle of the city is named after a British guy. There are no restaurants by the river, because it is design by the Mayor and City for exercising, walking, jogging, bicycle riding, fishing 🎣, family gatherings, picnics. To keep the citizens in shape.

It would be great if Cebu City had breathable air too...I got bronchitis on both of my month long trips there but I still like it there...

Women are more into Zumba which is usually held in open public places like plazas/parks. some gyms have zumba classes but it costs higher, so most opt to do zumba classes in public places.

Yeah the pay is not good. My girlfriend and her sister both worked at the call centers in Manila in 2016 in customer support for AT&T and Verizon. They were making $11/day for an 8 hour shift, but they actually had to work longer than that, to finish paperwork up, before they could go home from the night shift.

I see manly cultural similarities to how the Philippines is now. Maybe that’s why older guys like the Philippines so much.

@@BiggWorldCinema Who says there's no center as such? There is! It's called Calle Real, meaning, the "Royal Road" since the Spanish era, referring to ILOILO CITY being given by the Spanish Regent Queen Cristina the title La Muy Leal y Noble Ciudad de Iloilo, "The Most Like and Noble City of Iloilo", because ILOILO was still loyal to Spain when Manila and the surrounding provinces were already rising up in arms against Spain. And so, this loyalty gave Iloilo such tag and earned the title QUEEN CITY OF THE SOUTH, a non-transferable title ILOILO earned from the Queen herself. Thus, it would be a shame for other cities like Cebu to grab such title from Iloilo which they did not earn, and which Regent Queen Cristina herself meant to give only to ILOILO. The Calle Real as a city center is cleaner and more orderly than the downtown Colon city center of Cebu. And Iloilo City's Calle Real still has many of its Architectural heritage Spanish and American era bldgs still well preserved, unlike Cebu's. At the very center of this downtown center of ILOILO City's Calle Real is the Plazoleta Gay, named after one of Iloilo City's mestizo mayors. When you are standing in the middle of the Plazoleta Gay, you are literally standing at the heart of ILOILO CITY's Spanish era downtown area. And unlike Cebu's center where Colon, Sanciangko, Manalili converge, ILOILO's Plazoleta Gay is clean, unpolluted, and uncongested, and well-maintained with pots of greenery to brighten and beautify the area. At present, the beautiful Architectural and historical bldgs here are still intact, and beyond this heritage area is a new beautiful skyscraper tower that is being constructed, La Terranza towers at Arroyo Street, in Plazoleta Gay, and which delineates the boundary between the European Heritage Calle Real area and the new modern downtown area. As to Iloilo's new completely modern areas, Iloilo's new CBD is the Mandurriao district and its Diversion Road area called TRISOMA (my invented accronym, meaning, Triangle South of Mandurriao). This new growth center is Iloilo's new BGC. A shopping mall here called Festive Walk Mall is almost the same in looks to the Uptown Mall at the BGC, no wonder, because both malls are owned by Megaworld. And Iloilo's interesting Calle Real, Diversion Road, and the tourist attractions are just next to one another and even walkable or short distance-ridden by public 12p commute. No such thing as being spread out. Ilollo is, in fact, the cleanest, most pleasant walkable city in the Philippines, better than polluted and irritating traffic-congested Cebu. A short ride from here is the another new "BGC" in Metro Ilollo, called the "Georgia Estates", 500+hectares, being developed by Sen. Manny Villar's VistaLand, and is a continuation of the very successful "Savannah Estates" development beside it. The new "Georgia" and Savannah developments follow the same Architectural design as the Heritage southern plantation American structures in Savannah, Georgia, USA. Near here, and also within the Metro Ilollo area, is another new "BGC", the Santa Barbara Heights development, 175hectares, which is inspired by rge beautiful Architectural designs of the Florida Boca Raton resorts developments. Still, adjacent to the Santa Barbara Heights and Georgia Estates developments (they are all adjacent to each other, making the entire Mandurriao up to Oton and Santa Barbara municipalities one big highend development), is the Santa Lucia Centro Verde and Green Meadows township developments, another new of the ever-expanding new "BGCs" in the entire Metro Iloilo.
