I'm not Indonesian but for someone who understands Indonesian and speaks English, I think Iko speaks good and clear English and him coming from Indonesia where English is not widely spoken previously, I applaud his ability and effort to converse and act in a hollywood movie. If Jackie Chan can do it, Iko Uwais can do it too.Let's all embrace diversity and applaud all these actors that's making an effort to come out of their comfort zone.

Lets hope HW realize his talent and give him good opportunities not stupid movies they have a jewel like Tony Jaa and Scott adkins HW don't know these guys have serious talent. Then again its HW I mean back in the day Bruce lee face the same thing they did not no what they had he had to go to Hong Kong then they called him for enter the dragon. But typical HW try and put pretty boys in costumes and sell them as action stars when you got guys who are the real deal

Iko Uwais, a truck driver who has pencak silat ability. He become pencak silat athlete and now as an actor. Iko is one Indonesian famous actor from Betawi, native in Jakarta, capitol city of Indonesia. In real life, Iko is a humble man. He still remember his many friends as a truck driver.
As Indonesian, I am very proud of Iko.
In Mile 22 his characters name is Li Noor. It's from Ali Noor. Noor or Nur is a word from Arabic, means light.
Ali Noor or Ali Nur (with written Noor Ali or Nur Ali), is a common name of Betawi man.
IKO is my favourite actor and from my country and i wish his action on that movie can bring our local artist to be better better better again.. Congratulation Iko :)

saya sempet kerja belasan tahun di salah satu Bank Asing di Jakarta. Bahasa Inggris saya saat itu gak jelek. Pokoknya lawan bicara saya ngerti deh.
cuma.... Jujur, bahasa Inggris saya, conversation nya meningkat pesat justru saat saya sempet kerja di salah satu perusahaan Amerika di Seattle.
kenapa bisa begitu...? karena disana saya "dipaksa" untuk bisa berbahasa Inggris. sementara waktu masih di Jakarta, saya hanya berbahasa Inggris dengan orang asing. dimana itu pun sebagian besar adalah teman2 dari Malaysia, Singapura maupun Hongkong. Bahsa inggris mereka itu selain dialeknya masih "ke melayu2an" juga mereka kadang malah pake bahasa Indonesia. jadi yaa... saya gak maju2.
So... buat temen2 kalo mau bisa bahasa Inggris nya bagus, harus sering2 bicara dengan orang yg memang bahasa Ibu nya adalah bahasa Inggris.
Dan... itu yang Iko hadapi saat ini. Dia sekarang mulai lebih sering berada dan berbicara dengan orang2 tersebut.....

Kita tetap harus bangga dengan bahasa Indonesia kita, tapi... di era globalisasi ini Bahasa Inggris harus mulai kita jadikan bahasa kedua kita.
