Great revew Axel, your review is even more detailed more technical than Timmy, and I really appreciate that. The Cantor is one beautiful looking IEM, and at $800, with that level of details, I would say for ppl looking for analytical kind of listening without shelling out kilobuck money, then this is the one. And you're absolutely spot on with the details remark. This is less detailed than Anole VX, Jomo Flamenco and especially Annihilator & CP622B for sure, but terrific value regardless.
If the timbre and tonality is anything like the P8, that’s all the reason I need to skip these. The timbre of the P8 was borked to my ears. Very metallic and unnatural. Great review, man. Thanks for sharing
Hey Dom, 😀 Yeah, the tonality is pretty much the same as the P8, with a bit more sub-bass and slightly more airiness. The timbre is improved but still inspired by the P8. The Cantor is like a super HD version of the P8. If you liked the P8, you’ll love it, and vice versa. Thanks for stopping by.
Thank you Axel for this video! Is there any option to compare this iem to canpur cp622b or grand maestro. I do not have any exp with anoly vx or annihilator so it is hard do imagine detail level this iem. Its tuning etc. All best, Marcin.
Thank you! Unfortunately, I don’t have those IEMs, so I can’t make a direct comparison. To explain it this way, I think most would agree that the Anole VX and Annihilator 2023 are top-tier when it comes to detail. The Cantor is about 80-90% of that level in terms of detail. Jaytiss is a great guy, and he has the Canpur CP622B and Grand Maestro. Feel free to ask him about it in the comments, he’s pretty responsive.
Big fan of you Axel. Fantastic review. This review should be the golden standard review format. I'm very interest your opinior about which iems do you think has most detailed next to anole vx?
Thank you for your kind words! If you're asking about IEMs on the same level as the Anole VX, I'd say the Elysian Annihilator 2023 and QDC Gemini are comparable in terms of technicalities and detail. If you're referring to IEMs that are a bit below the Anole VX, I'd place the Cantor at around 80-90% of its detail. After that, I'd rank the DUNU Glacier, Elysian DIVA, Softears RS10, and 64 Audio U12T. The Shure KSE1200 offers even more resolution than the Anole VX and is the most detailed IEM I've ever experienced. However, it's an electrostatic IEM, and in my opinion, EQ is probably needed to fully enjoy them (at least for me).
Hi Axel! Very good review. Hoped you also would address the cable quality I didn't expect that Aful would make an IEM that beats the technical performance of the Pilgrim (really didn't expect that) by so much, hence they are a quite a new company. I own the Aful P5 as the P8. They are good IEM'S (prefer the P5; more energetic), but it sounds like Aful has not been sitting around. But seen the price, there R&D put quite an effort to make it as good as they can. The long nozzle is for me personal a pro; except for the Variations, almost every IEM'S nozzle is actually to short for me. Last time I said to you the Mega5est is on my short list; correction, this is my next IEM! Thank you.
Thanks! Yeah, I completely forgot to mention that. The cable is high quality with a cloth-like outer layer, no microphonics, doesn’t tangle, and has a slight memory. It feels really premium, and I wore it for hours with no discomfort. The level of detail from the Cantor really surprised me. I think the price reflects the R&D and the number of drivers. The nozzle seems like it’d suit your preferences, and the slender design is a bonus. 😄
Great review! I don't have an all-BA set in my collection. I like DD bass so much, afraid BA bass will not satify my ears. thanks for the review. The Explorer really does come alive with some good juice!
I haven’t had a chance to listen to the V16 Divinity yet, so I can’t really comment on its sound. But I will say the Cantor sounds more detailed than the Prestige LTD and Monarch MK III, even though those two have more bass.
@@Gizaudio yeah, I personally have the Mest Mk2 and it definitely has a unique looking FR. I may think about getting an AFUL iem with a similar FR but it will probably be the Explorer just cause the Cantor isn’t the cheapest 😅
@@GizaudioPersonally think the best way to go about that is a personal target curve. You can maybe let pple know your preferences vs other target curves and then we all will have some sort of 'baseline'

@@Gizaudio thank you! I believe that the Cantor is perhaps on par with the resolution of the u12t based on your comparison with the UM Mest MKIII, which I think is not far from u12t in terms of resolution?
I had more IEMs I wanted to include in the comparison, but I didn't want the review to be longer than that. The Glacier is one of my favorites, it has way more bass and a Harman-like tuning, so its sound signature is different. I enjoy both for different reasons.
True. About the ear tips, you can use your own tips. AFUL recommends using the stock ones, but I tried over 20 different types and found I preferred the Spinfit W1, Divinus Velvet, and Final Type E. One type of ear tips that didn’t work for me was wide-bore tips. I wouldn’t recommend those with the Cantor.
@@MikeHerbosa The metal part is just the tip of the nozzle, while the nozzle itself includes the blue resin section. The ear tip should cover the blue resin portion.
Hey everyone, be sure to catch the technical scale at 04:38 and the final rating at 10:40.
Can you recommend for me which is best louder max? Also I’m deaf man. I did bought iem kz10 is no good not really loud plug in the pc.

Big props for comparing not with just same priced iems. Sound quality and especially enjoyment are not necessarily proportional to the money paid

As much as I do miss Timmy, I do appreciate how you give way more info. Btw was subbed to the other channel before you made the jump to Gizaudio.

@larryknicks “cleared up” in a positive way? 🙂
Thanks for your comparison with the RS10. I was waiting for some one to compare the Cantor to some flagship like the RS10.

Nice job on the review. Much better pacing than before.

already a huge improvement from last time props 😄

Good take Axel, Our impressions highly match on the Cantor. It is like P8 on steroids.
I agree. Thank you for watching.
I might have to pickup an Explorer, everyone seems to like that IEM and it's not too expensive.

What’s a good 500-1000 IEM for bass and relaxed listening with good isolation?
Look at the Symphonium Meteor
Lots of IEMs, try checking out the Symphonium Meteor, and FatFreq IEMs.
Can you talk about the Tangzu Wan'er Studio Edition in the next video?
I will try :)
How does this compare to the Thieaudio V16 Divinity?
I haven’t had a chance to listen to the V16 Divinity yet, so I can’t really comment on its sound. But I will say the Cantor sounds more detailed than the Prestige LTD and Monarch MK III, even though those two have more bass.
It reminds of the Mest Mk2 just based on frequency response.
You’re spot on! The frequency response graph is really similar to the UM MEST MK II. Nice catch! 👍
